Coke was made by baking coal, so it's mostly carbon. They then pumped steam through it, to make "producer gas", which was mostly hydrogen. We used this before north sea gas for cooking, heating and lighting. We called it "gas".
Every day when I went to school I'd pass the old Gas works, and then again on the way back home. I was always fascinated by the mountains of coal. My mum and Dad grew up in Garston back in the 20's and 30's and my dad had some cracking stories. The one that sticks in my mind was when Germans dropped a parachute mine on one of the gasometers and 6,000 Garstonians were immediately evacuated. A navy lieutenant, Lt. Newgass was sent into the Gasometer to defuse the bomb. It took him two days because his breathing aparatus only gave him thirty minutes of air. He was successful and was awarded the George Cross. There's a plaque in St.Michael's church commemorating it.
Just a suggestion for you mate. How about exploring the path of the River Alt. Its source comes out of the ground on Huyton Lane just past Asda, and then obviously travels for many miles, eventually getting bigger. Best wishes, Matty 🙏

I don't know where you got the paraffin idea, coke is made by cooking coal without air, sometimes as high as 3,600ºF, to drive off impurities like water, naptha, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide, pyridine, hydrogen cyanide and tars. basically., anything that's not carbon. Coke is almost pure carbon and is much cleaner to use than even high quality anthracite. It was used in blast furnaces to make iron, but was also used a smokeless fuel. But think on, daft lad! What if you got poisoned going in that eerie place? Or fell in a pit? Still, I enjoyed the video. 😃 {:o:O:}
