Needs a nice wooden propeller on the front of it, and maybe a stand. Maybe get rid of the kick start all together. Make a cover to go over the ignition stuff. Heck you could even give it electric start if you wanted with one of those old starter/generators. Lol so many ideas for it. Thanks Roadking! 😄
14:30 You know what would make a REALLY great series... that '57 that's still in the background!! :) I love those Maytags, looking forward to seeing it running!
I just picked up a pe-162 generator which looks similar to a Maytag engine. I Hope to make a video one day with it running the radio it was designed to power or Perhaps even take it to an engine show.
Nice episode! Interesting to see what kind of cash goes into a “good deal find” build with all the little things. I have an early Clinton like that haha!
I can already see how this is going to go, knowing how RK operates. You'll start off "just getting it running", and before you know it, it will turn into a full resto :)
Would make a nice video series, I understand the expenses though. Haven’t seen anything on hit and misfits in a while. Great video Road King, thank you!
Getter going, I'm not really into maytag anymore either but you have to save it for the newbie Maytag / Briggs get younger generation into the hobby ever year They are costly if you put them back perfect I'm off to the largest engine show and swap in world Portland Indiana Stay safe roadking Thanks for the video's Ligebellbuckletn Ligebellbuckletn
For me it would be interesting because it's different, the single cylinder B&S engines you often work on are all very similar so this would make a nice change. I would suggest that you strip it down a bit further so that you can properly assess cost implications then decide how far you want to take it, even if that is just getting it running. Also, you need to think about yourself and if the project will bore you, then just don't do it - no point being a martyr to youtube. Maybe there's other different small engines you would enjoy more which would be just as interesting to the channel.
You know, i missed this series, no idea how, but i knew i missed the previous video you put out, popped in the channel mainpage, and thought to myself, what are those wacky boys up to, they made another engine? Because in my mind, this Maytag (that i didn't even know existed, for shame) looks like something you and the gang would fabbricobble from bits and pieces. :))
That is one cute little engine.. I wonder where it was made. If you invested 100 bucks what might you get out of it if you sold it? Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing.
A money pit for you on something you have little interest in could be a springboard for someone just getting into old engines. If it runs, great, if not, well whomever it goes to at least has some reference material to work from. Either way, it's a win for the engine not to be headed to the scrapyard.
I have been looking for that gas tank for my engine my Maytag 72 is a top mont engine I won’t to convert it to a base mont so it can bolt it to the washing machine I have
10 bucks , 10 bucks , 10 bucks so what your preserving history ! You could donate it to a museum or something , I have ! Or you could bring it to a swap meet for show or mount it on a washing machine and give it to your wife for her birthday ! Just kidding on the last one , mine would kill me if I did that ! Lmao . ALL motors are worth saving not because there worth big bucks but because there cool !
I'm looking forward to seeing it run!
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
Love these old Maytag vids. Keep them coming, thanks!
I built my 92 for my washer about 5 years ago. Still works great, and still use the washer when the weather is decent enough to use it.
I like the old washers, they're pretty cool!! Mine was a pain in the balls dragging to the shows so I sold it!!☺
Tearing down those old engines are always interesting to see what it will take to get it going again.
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
An interesting little engine, but I can see how it can get expensive to fix it up right. Good video,RK!👍
Thanks Tony!! We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
I saw a Maytag (for the first time in person) the other day. It had a huge grinding stone on it. Fired right up.
They're neat little engines, something a little different!!☺
It's amazing how fast all the small stuff adds up.
Yeah and the more you get into them, the more stuff you find that needs replacing!!☺

I've seen them with Props on them, that would go over well at the shows!!☺
805ROADKING Thanks RK. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.

If we fix the 57 we won't have anywhere to work!!☺
@@805ROADKING I hear ya, I've got projects like that too! I just noticed you're dangerously close to 100k subscribers, well deserved!
Thanks Buddy!! It seems like the closer we get the longer it taking!!☺
Always fixing something, good stuff!
Thanks Buddy!!☺
I would buy it from you. I wish you guys would get back in to hit and miss moters. Seeing you guys work on them got me in to the hobby
We still have a few Hit and Miss Engines in the Shed we need to restore, but with all the shows being canceled we can't get parts!!☺
Amazing the magnets are still good on these 90+ year old Engines,
taping into some endless energy somehow... makes ya wonder.
Yeah that is interesting!! Of all the small engines I've worked on over the years I've only come across a few with bad magnets!!☺

@@805ROADKING I know my friend... its hard to believe. But time goes quick when you have fun!! : )

Lol!! That's too funny, I'm already looking to see what I have stock!! It might all depend on how well it runs or doesn't run!!☺
Ive never seen a twin cyl maytag. Neat.
I love how you always say "poarts" and "spoark" ;)
Got the same one Maytag 72 D runs very well but I haven’t bothered to start it in awhile
I like the 72's more than the 92's!!☺
Would make a nice video series, I understand the expenses though. Haven’t seen anything on hit and misfits in a while. Great video Road King, thank you!
Thanks John!! We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!! The little Misfit is growing up, he don't have any time for RUclips!!☺
That 12 guage Romex plug wire is pretty slick. I hope you decide to fix it :)
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
Looks like that 72 had a ruff life thats for sure. Hopefully you can do something with it RK👍
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
One of the best lessons you can learn in the restoration game is know when to walk away! (Relationships too!) =D
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
That thing has been rode hard and put away wet! I imagine y'all can wring one more rebuild out of her!
Yeah Buddy!! It has definitely seen better days, we'll see what we can do with it!!☺
Well its your decision do what you want to do with it buddy!
We'll probably restore it, we'll see how it runs!!☺
hope someone gets it that will restore it King , Maybe you can trade it for a briggs at a show ! ENJOYED

Sell it to a RUclipsr who will make video of the build ...I have watched his Model T video

Get it running, auction it off.
I wonder how many people these engines have killed due to carbon monoxide poisoning from exhaust leaks.
I would imagine quite a few, they made millions of them from 1927-1952!!☺
