It bugged me too. They filmed that portion too quickly, perhaps we didn’t get to see it come to a complete stop after the rotation (I am giving them perhaps too much credit) 1:17 after review, the ruling on the field stand, it is misaligned.
Drives me absolutely crazy and I have seen it on several FS reviews. It is not just this car. That would force me to never close the screen because my eyes would be searing with anger!
If it were Tesla, I would say the misalignment is real and is probably worse in real life. But Bentley has earned a reputation over a 100+ years , perhaps the camera has not captured the right angles and such.
The past two Flying Spurs have had very odd proportions, being based on various Audi/VW products. This one makes you immediately forget those. It seems impossible for a car of this size to perform so well, yet coddle you in such ultra-fine luxury. Those horses are obviously thoroughbreds being able to hustle a 5000 pound, 17ft long car this fast! There's just one problem: I can't afford it!
Throughout the years, I've never been much of a fan of Bentley's cars because just didn't look all that great to me for all the money they command. These newer ones, though, like this Flying Spur, this car looks fantastic!
I can think of less reliable cars than those from the VW/Audi auto group. I’d start with Land Rover (which includes Jaguar). After that, target practically anything from GM, and the Daimler auto group. None of those later groups do well with any agency that tracks long-term reliability metrics.
That misaligned rotating info screen is one of many reasons to never pay this amount of money for a car. I used to be a butler and my employer sold his Bentley Turbo R and bought the Rolls Royce Flying Spur. He asked me to go over the car to see if there were any issues with it. I found over a dozen, including a spot of glue on a rear head rest, an angled screw in the drivers door sill, two loose threads in the seat stitching and imperfections in the front grill. Needless to say, my employer was pissed and had the car returned to make it right. You're merely paying for the bragging rights, not perfection. At these price points, I want perfection in the details, especially with how these depreciate!
Welcome to Hoovie's Garage, the dumbest auto channel in all of RUclips, and the WHEEZZZZZARDDD has the bill for replacing the display in the dash. (Gasps at price): $10,500?!?!?
I believe they do on the production cars, which this particular example is not technically, being an early one for the use of the media. Still, it's really not great !!
As an owner of the naturally aspirated version of the Turbo R - the Mulsanne S - I would really appreciate seeing your review. I don't know if you ever reviewed the Mulsanne S when it was introduced in 1987. Interestingly, that model was the first Bentley in almost a decade to be sold in the USA.
I have tested this car and it would be really nice for 100k, but it just doesnt keep up with its actual 300k price tag. The interior quality is not 300k, the space in the rear definitely is not 300k, the engine is not 300k and the trunk is too small for the luggage of 4 people (let alone 5, but thats irrelevant). It is fast and drives reasonably well and easily, so it should be a good long distance cruiser (I only did about 90-100 miles in it) but you can feel that it is not based on a limousine platform, but on the Porsche Panamera. If you want a Bentley, buy the Mulsanne.
So this massive car has the acceleration and braking numbers of a Porsche 911 turbo from just 8 years ago. Nuts. Cars are too powerful for daily roads now.
It’s gorgeous and I miss the era of big land yachts. The only drawback is for over 220k the steering wheel buttons look to be sourced from an Audi A3 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
I agree this is a sweet ride now go look at the Lincoln continental reserve from motorweek it just seems to me most media people are against American greatness.never have I ever thought that before in my life don't bet against AMERICA.
I have a Ford and a Mercedes. The Merc feels 10x more solid and somehow has much less squeaks and rattles than the Ford even though it's a convertible. Admittedly the Ford has proven more reliable, but with a few exceptions American cars are not world-standard and haven't been for decades.
You can get a slightly used Lincoln Continental for about 10% of the cost of this. They look VERY similar and no one will be able to tell the difference.
Purchasing this car will make you best friends with the service department at the dealership. Rear steering and that w-12 motor plus tons of canbus controlled fluff inside. Theres so much that can go wrong.
@@thetalkingboard this engine and drivetrain are Volkswagen technology correct? You'd be hard pressed to convince me that it's super reliable. I were a millionaire, I suppose I could drive one of my other cars whilst this one is at the shop.
Very nice car but that "Black Line" mascara is depressing. A Goth Bentley is like Mom or Dad trying to show how "hip" they are to their teenage children and their friends. Ugh.
Bentley and Rolls can make a dual-clutch transmission work seamlessly in the ultimate luxury-barge, yet BMW uses a slush-box for the pseudo-sport-barge that still carries the M5 badge. The Bentley knows what it is and where it sits in the market. Despite all the gaudy screens and geo-behavioural-tracking devices, the M5 seems to have got lost. There is no such thing as an Energy Impact Scorecard. The amount a car owner spends on driving his car is called bank-balance-impact, if you like (or, for those who are clocking up miles down a dead-end road, waiting for the Great Depression Reset to scrub the memory of their debt and designed destitution in exchange for their total dependency, their subscription to an Essentialness Score, and their soul, it's called credit-card-interest-charge-impact).
There really is NOTHING more you can do to a car these days unless you can get it to fly. Everything these days is boring, nothing new accept for the price tag... It is now a VW/Porche/Bentley product. Hey why not add some Pontiac to it,, OH WAIT, that is right, they are gone.. nevermind.!
Magnificent beast that reminds one of a bygone era.
"Velvet hammer of awesomeness". I just like this string of words.
Why am I watching this. I debate getting a large drink at Wendy’s.
Hey be glad you aren’t limited to just McDonald’s
Because you have class. Money doesn't buy class or smarts! You're good, dawg.
I admire your integrity.
We can all dream...
Don't worry you can buy as many as you wanted on ebay. Hahaha
The metal trim on the rotating dash thing doesn't line up straight. That would bug the hell out of me.
Infuriating, especially on a £200,000+ car. The rotating display is a £4,700 option as well !!

I noticed that with the trim as well david.

Fast car especially for being so heavy.
Every time I look at these luxurious VW group cars, something about the dash that some kind of a error light will illuminate.
Yep. It’s all fun and games until it starts breaking down. And it will.
Just give it some time.
Does that include Porsche.
It's like why can't they use the same attention to detail for the mechanics and the electronics as they do for the interior??

The slalom clip, - you could see the tires sticking to the asphalt... it’s about to peel off.
now THATS a car!
Oh yeah!.So purty. For me only for cruising and showing off.
I like it a lot. I would love it if there was a rear drive option.
Future Hoovie Hooptie.

God damn 11.9 quater mile is not bad for a car that Weigh like a yatch.
0:20 - it’s the 2nd, not 3rd generation Flying Spur
Wow almost zero body roll. It’s a good deal compared to the rolls.
HOLD UP! That rotating display.. once done rotating does not match up with the rest of the trim.
I believe they do on the production cars, which this particular example is not technically, being an early one for the use of the media. Still, it's really not great !!
It's also a ridiculously priced option, something like $8K.
Quite a few folks noticed that. Not to worry, Bently will resolve the issue to owner's COMPLETE satisfaction!!!!
Wow, I thought it would cost more in the Ferrari range. I like it.
Yeah, more like the Ford GT!
5:12 I was thinking it would be $300,000+
PLEASE, P L E A S E, P L E A S E upload the BENTLEY TURBO R retro review if you haven't already. Thank you.

TOTALLY AGREE, where is that video..
Cool how they let us hear the starter a few times.
Love that car, and the late 80s more!

Shit! A Rolls is 500k! You gonna pay for the luxury. But newsflash. If that's not worth it to you don't buy it. America remember?

Super reportage bravo ...from Marseille
when this thing took off I was like F****!!!! like a dam sledgehammer.....when I became rich one day lol
Bently/ Rolls Royce would describe the performance as "adequate"!
Bentley and 3.7 were said in the same sentence. I still don't believe it.
And if Motorweek got 3.7, that means the actual time is closer to 3.3-3.4.
I don't like the square rear taillights. They need updated to the ovals.
I think they look nice. Have you seen the black flying spur RDB modified? Makes me want to sell a kidney xD
nice......but does it come in a stick/manual?
I was watching this guy as a kid in 1990!!
I was watching John as a 46 year old mature adult in 1990!
What i still don't get, is the why MPG stateside is about 1/2 of the rest of the world's.
Good job to all those involved Great Design!!!
would this make a good sweet 16 gift? what colors does it come with?
It’s gorgeous and I miss the era of big land yachts. The only drawback is for over 220k the steering wheel buttons look to be sourced from an Audi A3 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Beautiful Motorcar
No wood trim on the rear doors is not sitting well with me.
The 0-60 time on this behemoth is better than my Mustang GT's
11.9 second quarter mile at 119mph? You sure it didn’t stop from 60 in 119ft?
Only if i win the lottery on this one.🧐
Should be renamed the ARISTOCRAT.
👍😎🤓
Rear seats looks quite standard. My S class looks better in the rear.

Lincoln all day!

I get your point but Bentley definitely carries a different road presence than your run of the mill Lincoln.
If you can't tell the difference between a used Lincoln and this Bentley, you're not a car enthusiast.
Love it!
This car is so beautiful
The latest depreciation king have arriveth.
Nice ride!
Love the old flying spur hate this new design
Almost good looking enough to make me forgive them for the hideous Bentayga.
That steering wheel looks very much like the one in the Golf.
Hand made steering wheel in a Golf? NOT!
@@TheOzthewiz whether handmade, or made by a machine, they still share a similar design.
I love my new $52,550 Lincoln Continental
Damn...that is fine. 3.7 to 60 too with all that mass. Well done Bentley!
What a great way to spend tax dollars. Public television reviewing cars for the Tech Barons.
I feel like this is the last Bentley with the dinosaur hurrah we've all been wanting just for it to go away to Electric
I grew up watching Motorweek and man this John Davis did not age well
Who does???
If this was 3 years I think there would be a market for this car but now it just doesn’t fit in
The type of face only a Kardashian can love.
I decided to buy one, in four years at a 65% discount
At $76000, that's STILL a LOT of coin for a 4 year old car!
New saw the reason to buy these, get a car that's 2x as reliable for 1/2 the price.
Purchasing this car will make you best friends with the service department at the dealership. Rear steering and that w-12 motor plus tons of canbus controlled fluff inside. Theres so much that can go wrong.
Nope! This powertrain is incredibly reliable and set up on a Porsche platform. You’re thinking of any other British marque.

White leather and damp or wet jeans.....not a good mix
People trying to survive out here
And everyone talking bad about Hyundai and Kia smh

The chrome would have been an even gaudier trim.

too bad it is not reliable
#perfection

I want to buy this car but two things keep my away. The w12 engine, and the gas mileage. If they made a hybrid I would be all over it.
Bentley offers a hybrid version called the Flying Spur Hybrid Odyssean Edition.
Mulsanne front and Arteon on the side? 😬
In a 10 years this will be 30k
And your point? And no it will be 80k
that front end is giving me studio ghibli vibes
Five years from now, watch its value sink like the, ummm, Titanic.
Yep that's it.🤣
Looks like a Kia Amanti
Watch many videos, Bentley and Rolls Royce cost tens of thousands per year in maintenance and repairs.

Hideously ugly front and banal rear. Inside is luxury at least. Bentleys used to be beautiful inside and out.
