- Paneer butter masala is a classic North Indian dish that's loved for its rich and creamy tomato-based gravy with paneer. It's a popular vegetarian dish often enjoyed with naan, roti and parathas.
For the Paneer:
200 grams paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cubed
For the Gravy:
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon oil
1 large onion
3-4 cloves garlic
3-4 medium tomatoes
10-12 cashew nuts
1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chili
1 teaspoon ground coriander (coriander powder)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
1/2 cup water (adjust as needed for desired consistency)
1/4 cup heavy cream or fresh cream
1 tablespoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves), crushed
For Garnish:
Fresh cilantro (coriander leaves), chopped
Fresh cream (optional)
