They don't always turn things off when a building is abandoned either it costs too much or they keep power on so the lights can be used to discourage looters etc from going in. There is a video on here titled "Middle School Fire Alarm and the building is abandoned and the people filming said the alarm system had been going off for at least a few days and when the guy with the camera zooms in on a locked door you can see inside lights still on through the windows.
These are built by Siemens in 1970 and modernized in 1993 (to that epic motor sound) by ABB - ASEA Brown Boveri. I didn't get stuck in the elevator. i took it to the basement and there it stopped with the doors open. Something with the doors. After that I took another elevator up and we got into the machine room one floor above.
I find the video extremely interesting. Dieselducy had the courage to ride this scary elevator, and made an outstanding video. Great Andrew, I admire you a lot
I'd definitely be afraid to ride this thing on my own. I once rode a scary OTIS hydraulic (Series 5 fixtures) on my own & survived it pretty well, but definitely not this elevator. Sorry.
It sounds like a lot of trains made in the 70's and 80's, and Siemens builds trains as well so maybe they used the same DC PWM technology for both trains and elevators !
This elevator is a very not good elevator at all. In fact, it should be modernized into a Gen2 by OTIS. Then these things will definitely run far superior. I think the reason Alex got stuck in the elevator was because he farted in it. Lmao I love making these silly jokes
DieselDucy knows his stuff! If he's saying this elevator (no this is not the crappy old elevators in Bulgaria which somehow never get stuck which is surprising due to their crappy condition) was scary, believe him, it WAS definitely scary! This one's not for people who are afraid of elevators :)
Very nice!!! Those look like LEDs behind the floor indicators in the lift car, strange how it isn't a 7-segment display instead but looks much better as separate indicators. I take it the machine room was locked?
+legolifts10 the office part of a huge abandoned postal sorting facility. There will be an elevaTOURS urbex tour of this facility uploaded in the near future
Cool beans! I just edited 4 months of elevator videos from earlier this year including my 3 impulses from Florida & combined it into a gigantic 1 hour & 20 minute long movie & it took over 15 hours to produce. It took me on Sunday from the time I woke up to probably 1 hour before I went to bed (but I took 20 minute breaks in between each major sequence in the movie editing), then yesterday when I came home from school I was 90% finished so I spent the other six hours until I went to bed finishing the rest of the movie, then I watched the hour & 20 minute movie after it was done this morning processing & since it was free of 'out-of-the ordinary' content I uploaded it to RUclips. If it took me 15 hours just to edit over 40 minutes of elevator videos on a BASIC movie editing software, I could *only imagine* how long it would take you to edit a 4 hour long clip using your high tech advanced editing software. My prayers go out to Alex & I hope he safely escapes the stuck elevator. Have fun in Europe & hopefully you'll release one of your epic farts on the elevators... :) Best wishes go to you frirnd.
Hey andrew, used to be a long yime viewer recently got back into elevators/lifts. Have you posted the urban exploring of this facility yet? I know you mentioned the other Bank of elevators sounded fantastic compared to this one and I'd really like to see how they compared to this one. Is it uploaded yet or have you yet to edit / posted?
@@DieselDucy Awesome haha, Been watching for a while and know you probably have like tens of thousands of videos in your backlog [going back 10-15 years probably], and that it takes a while to edit these, especially with the newer style in recent years.
Nice find! Not sure the video did justice in showing how badly this elevator ran, (aside from the safety issues noted) especially considering how it broke right after you stopped recording!
It sounds like (if the elevator is hydraulic), the pump is not supplying a sufficient amount of oil, or it's running out of oil. I am quite surprised that the fixtures are in excellent condition (let alone not looted)! I expected that someone would have looted or vandalized them by now. This is an awesome discovery! Don't tell the location of this building, since there are idiots who will try to loot or vandalize it. Anyways, great video! 😺👍
EPIC MOTOR! Heres why i think these things are Death traps: When they were installed/before the building got abandoned, they ran Excellently, but once the building was abandoned, the power was still on, but the parts got slowly looser and less stable (because they were not being maintained anymore), hence the shaking/Violent jolting of the cab, or maybe it was just a lazy/crappy install/Modernization for the bank you filmed, since you said the other elevator bank was fine, and also, @DieselDucy, were is the machine room video if you or Alex have one?
Bonsoir à tous, j'ai emprunté l'ascenseur CFA (mod: OTIS 2006) au résidence L'Orée des pistes à 9 étages et monté au 7eme étage aux Menuires. Merci cordialement, Johan.
It sure is sad to see what I think was a nice building at one time become abandoned and decrepit. As with the elevator, those fixtures are really cool, since the floor indicator looks a lot like those square-lens Otis indicators, and the buttons look almost like a blend of Montgomery Vector and Kone Series-220 because of the green lights around the button rims (or maybe even Dover RimLite with green LED bulbs).
Well, they were a very short lived fixture in the mid to late 90's, and utilized a stainless steel or bronze button with a square halo that illuminated red when pressed, similar to the square EPCO Inch-Line buttons. Additionally, Dover made the Twin-Lite button that was round and had two lights on the sides that illuminated green.
nope. Abandoned buildings in nice communities are mostly used for storage and other maintenance stuff. So the building probably had occupants, just not the general public. Probably the storage people. A totally abandoned building would have no electricity whatsoever.
As sketchy as it is, I really like the buttons and indicators. That acid green looks nice
I don't get why people are shaming him. He can do what he wanted, it's his life, and I personally love his video.
Thanks so much. I love urbex

Surprising to see an abandoned building with power, and surprising that they didn't turn off the elevators when the building became abandoned.

Okay it's a death trap. But what an EPIC MOTOR it has 😀

DieselDucy You're very lucky to go to Denmark, mate :P
It sounds like a lot of trains made in the 70's and 80's, and Siemens builds trains as well so maybe they used the same DC PWM technology for both trains and elevators !
Motor sounds like a lot of high-rise EPL Kone tractions.
I been on a elevator in a hospital that got stuck while my family was riding down it was wierd
Since this building is abandoned, no surprise to see these elevators run rather lovely.
+Fantech0104 the ones on the other side of the building ran great. I don't know why these were so bad.
This elevator is a very not good elevator at all. In fact, it should be modernized into a Gen2 by OTIS. Then these things will definitely run far superior. I think the reason Alex got stuck in the elevator was because he farted in it. Lmao I love making these silly jokes
DieselDucy Now that you mentioned it that does make it quite strange. That's funny how the other elevators run a lot better than these.
They don't use Gen2 in that country
Then do they use kone ECODISC?
1:10 What's that empty space to the right of the floor buttons for?
this elevator doesn't seem that bad!. just crackles a little
+elevatorfilmer2867 productions trust me. It was pretty bad. It shook like crazy and right after this ride, it broke.

+mrmattandmrchay I got in :)
The rest of this building actually looks to be in really good condition dispite being abandoned for many years
Sadly demolished
Wow these just look bad, I know these probably run worse than they look. No surprise though, because this is abandoned.
0:17 it’s broken
yep!
@@DieselDucyI liked ur reply

Do you have any footage of when Alex got stuck?
Is the other elevator get stuck
it was broke.
This video appears to be a birthday present for me. (Cuz the video was uploaded on my birthday)
Is it a hydraulic elevator?
Traction
Ok cool
When is that elevaTOUR of this place going to be online?
+JR Jackson it will take a while to edit as this place was huge and we spent about 4 hours here

Those fixtures remind me of Schindler 5500

No door safety? That's one dangerous elevator, imagine being squished in an abandoned lift!
The building is torn down :(
Why don't they just tear down the building?
It sounds like (if the elevator is hydraulic), the pump is not supplying a sufficient amount of oil, or it's running out of oil.

Anyways, great video! 😺👍
It's traction not hydraulic
A hydraulic lift this tall is very rare in europe
the door safety either disabled or dont work
Ahh crispy 60 fps video. We need more of this on yt.
And I bet with some cleaning up and fixing up of the elevators this building could be used again because it looks in really good shape
Sadly demolished
