Yes, the X8 Pro has kept pace with the X7 Ultra and it's only the Pro version... but I would still say that I find the Pro more versatile than the Ultra thanks to its improved video quality. One thing is certain, one or the other will not be a disappointment for fans of the brand.
Agree, tough to go wrong. One thing some.may like about the X8 is the smaller camera module and lighter weight. It really makes for a more manageable device as long as you're good with the camera performance.
I’ve been waiting for this one. Just got back another x7 Ultra and it absolutely one of the best phones for 2024. Using that right now while all my others are back in box. PS: I don’t really see the need to switch to the 8 Pro but I’ll wait to see what the X8 Ultra is capable of. Thanks Grant! 👏🏽👊🏽💯
Great comparison video, much appreciated! Very close race, but I'd say the Find X7 Ultra is ever so slightly better in many photos. Where the Find X7 Ultra distinguishes itself is in macro capability and nicer bokeh on the larger main and 3X cameras. Video recording looks slightly better on the X8 Pro, but that's no surprise considering the newer SoC. Looking forward to the Find X8 Ultra!
I love my X7U and photo I get from the camera. Only one thing not great and that's the battery after almost a year of use. Other things are perfect even now.
Well, well...better hardware on X7 Ultra...but on results, it's very hard to find a real winner ! Maybe some differences in term of depth of field...even by night, X7 Ultra isn't far ahead, maybe a little better video stabilisation on main sensor...strangely, the bigger difference is on 135mm despite the sensor is the same ! Many complain about the lack of 1" sensor...but results are close. (Watched on 49" 4k TV)
I still prefer the shallower depth of field of the X7U main sensor and better minimum focusing distance on the tele, but the X8P definitely did much better than I was expecting for smaller sensors. I also started to appreciate the X8's smaller camera module and lighter design.
@GrantLikesTech We are on the same page in that regard. I would like the main to always have a 1 inch or larger sensor. I am hopeful that more brands switch to the 35mm focal length as well.
Every time you showed the 3x zoom on both the ultra would be zoomed in way too much making it harder to understand the real difference. Otherwise this review is the best I've seen and it has given me enough ideas between these two phones. They are very close to call a winner.

@ read today that both X8 Ultra and X200 Ultra may not be going global. That would be such a shame.
We have been going back and forth between the two but my wife actually thought that these were mirrorless cameras

Greater detail on the Ultra. Artificial bokeh and sharpening added in processing seems to present on the Pro.
I like the natural shallow depth of field on the X7U larger main sensor too.

Image processing is always key since even large camera sensors are pretty small on phones.

Probably because Find X7 Ultra's first tele is 65mm (2.8x) and FX8P's is 73mm (3x)
Tried to show a few at a normal distance and some to show minimum focus distance. Appreciate the feedback!
