Honestly he's the most logical character, something intensely traumatizing happens to him (after seeing lots traumatic things happen to his colleagues) he's like 'I'm out seems like this might happen again so peace!' 😂. But I really liked Hayes and wish we could've seen more of his story play out just glad they didn't kill him off so there may potential for updates about his life or even cameos.
Yeah but I dont think thats the reason he is leaving. I think he went in to tell Bailey about Owen. But when Bailey started talking about Owen about how difficult it has been for him I think he feels like he couldnt tell it. You can see his face change. He doesn't want to be the bad guy and doesn't want to be the guy to destroy Owen's career and make all his friends feel bad (like Bailey). So he leaves. because the also doesnt want to be involved in the crime.

Bailey was going on and on about the Hunts bad luck and that she need Owen to be OK because he didn't deserve all the crap he has gone through and there was definitely a shift of change in Hayes's face where I believe he changed his mind and decided he had to go because he didn't want to be complicit in Owen's actions and knowing he also couldn't work alongside him knowing what Owen had done. My comment was just joking because there's the joke around about the hospital that it's cursed (more of an outside joke about the show in general). I really liked Hayes and I'm so glad he didn't tell on Hunt because I want to see what happens when he does pull through with it and what happens with the story of him helping fellow soldiers.
I can't believe the show let go of the only character that doesn't treat this hospital like a circus, that takes his job(and his oath!) seriously, that actually follows the rules and the law and doesn't play god, and for the annoying, boring, insufferable and violent Owen Hunt. Hayes was the voice of reason in this hospital, the one that told people off when they went too far(he did it specifically with Hunt about Noah earlier in this season), a doctor who understood and respected boundaries and the limitations of medicine. This is really too bad, but it appears that Grey's anatomy prefers the idiots who cheat, steal and lie and think that they are heroes because of that.
I saw an article discussing how he was supposed to be the major love interest for Meredith but the Pandemic changed that and they decided to go another direction. His character is amazing and I think they're missing a major opportunity with him.
I say having physicians assisted death can be beneficial to people who are close to death or who are dealing with disease that will eventually take their life in due time along with their quality of life to the point they can't take care of themselves anymore. I say having at least 2 or 3 doctor signing off on those type cases for assisted death should be made to happen.

What happened is that once again, Owen Hunt plays the hero is his own story, he thinks everything he does is ok, even rightoues, that he has the right to break rules and help people kill themselves illegally,and that he's the only one who will act, that he is above law, oath or obligations.

I’m sorry but Grey’s is annoying with how they deal with characters. They bring in too many new characters and then they just axe them in weird ways when they barely had a storyline.
If this is truly the end of McWidow, then we barely got to see the relationship between Mer and McWidow too. McWidow asked her out, right at the moment when DeLuca was sinking in depression. Strike 1. Pandemic happened and Mer lingered between life and death. Strike 2. Nick Marsh returned. Strike 3 apparently. I'd like to see Owen leave instead of Hayes to be honest.

I always thought that had to do with the fact that he let his Unit's Lt die (in Baghdad) and right after he was rescued. He always felt guilty for letting him die when if he waited they would've been rescued and the guy could've had a chance.
This pisses me off. I really had high hopes for Hayes and Meredith. I know a lot of people like Meredith with this new guy ( I don’t even know his name), but Hayes was her equal. Plus I loved his bald head😉. Tired of seeing Meredith with men with more hair than she has🤦🏾♀️

yeah... Justin was psychologically overwhelmed. We wouldn't return to the show. Justin has to do what is best for him and he wants to be with his family. //If he did he would know that both Link and Jo lie to him about brother/sister relationship because they had a crush for one and other. And Izzie would have to came back. Arizona wouldn't give up fetal surgery... maybe be in charge of peds until a new replacement 🤷♀️ About the head of trauma, I think Teddy can be in charge but they are losing surgeons right and left.
That isn't what he's doing at all. He knows that Owen is breaking the law and he knows he needs to report that. Listening to Bailey wax poetic about Owen's goodness made him feel like he couldn't expose Owen so rather than work alongside a doctor with ethical concerns, he's walking off the job and giving Owen the kindness of not telling Bailey the truth.

@@noashom He would have definitely been the rational one of the bunch, but I meant more towards his relationship with Megan. They had something good going, plus, their boys are the same age. I’m glad this season his character was tethered with the Altman-Hunts, because honestly Hayes floated here and there without much of a connection to the rest of the cast.
I'm thinking the original idea was for him and Meredith to get together but the writers changed their minds. I really like Hayes and sorry they did not utilize him. It was a waste.
I think the worst part for introducing characters like Hayes, is they're written to be potential love interests for Meredith, but are ultimately written off. While I do love Nick and Meredith, it was stupid to introduce somebody called "McWidow" and be hand picked by Cristina, only to brush him aside for another character you just so happen to bring back after not appearing for 4 seasons. The same goes for Nathan Riggs, he was written to be Meredith's love interest after Derek's death with a lot of build up, but ultimately, they didn't want to renew the actors contract and brought back Owen's sister to give him a farewell, only to off-screen write off their relationship as well. Also it's hilarious that the reason the characters are written off are both related to Owen.

@@AuthorJCCarpenter yes, it's possible to change your mind on an issue but this is not the first time the writers have totally flipped. When Richard was very ill it was finally diagnosed his hip replacement was making him sick. But Richard having hip replacement never previously came up. And the show was on for 15, 16 years at that point. I'm thinking it's just bad writing again. We'll see if Owen tells Teddy what's going on if his changing his mind on that subject comes up.

This is sad because he and the Hunts were getting some very interesting relationships. I thought he was perfect for Megan: patient, reliable, understanding. And he was proving to be a great friend to Owen. I can only forgive this exit if Megan also leaves and we find out they secretly married next year lol.
Is Hayes actually leaving? Like did the actor come out and say this would be the end of his character? Cause if so, than that's a damn shame. I liked Hayes, but I really wished we got so much more for him. Sure, he definitely wasn't an Alex or Arizona, but he seemed like a good peds doctor.
The logic behind doing what's best for your kids is sound. But moving them again (first to Switzerland then to Seattle and now to Ireland) seems odd. If your kids are struggling, why move them to a country they didn't grow up in? Why not keep them with their friends/family (Abby's family, I think, live somewhere close by)? Why not keep them where they grew up with Abby for some stability?
Switzerland I think his wife was still alive probably they both moved for a job ,she must have died there so they came to Seattle because that's where her sister lives and Christina hooked him up with a recommendation.
@@walkz007 No, I don't think that's entirely right. There's a scene a few seasons ago where he tells Mer he took the kids and fled to Switzerland after Abby died because it was the "furthest place [he] could think of." I believe you're correct about the reasons he moved to Seattle, however.

Affter Hayes leave bailey should retire I love bailey but this show is not the same and the way they did teddy and owen was not realistic even if he did forgive her they would need therapy and lots of rrying little by little like with Christina it took time they would still be married but they would have to start from the ground up at least show there therapy session...

i don't think hayes is actually gone. richard flood hasn't said anything or given any sort of goodbye yet so i think hayes might be coming back to deal with the situation or tell bailey the truth about owen or something like that. either way, greys wouldn't just let him go like that, i think there's another big storyline coming up
I love how people quit jobs with no notice on TV programmes! In the UK a consultant (which I believe is the equivalent to an attending usually has at least a 2 or 3 month notice period! I imagine it's the same in the US? That said it wouldn't make for a very dramatic exit 😂

Hayes is smart to leave. Anyone who works at this hospital is cursed. Doctors here die at an alarming rate due to plane crash, bombing, mass shootings, fire. He almost died in a car crash.
You know on Kitchen nightmares or in a restaurant where although it's the chef with the ridiculous food, the servers take the heat? This is kind of like that. Ellen and all the other actors run and tell us they have a great new season, with things we've never seen before and how it's going to be a blast but then they deliver this kind of content. They know it's nothing like before but they can't trash their show. This writing is terrible and I find that they keep trying to excite us with new characters and never know where to take them. This dude hasn't even had a true storyline yet and now he's leaving. It's so obvious they're writing episode by episode and have no real blueprint or plan.
They also have a tendency to ruin past story lines. That last scene with Megan and Riggs and Farouk on the beach was beautiful. They bring her back and it's "oh we broke up." Ruined a perfectly good ending for both of those characters. There was so much potential with Hayes, and he's such a good actor. A total waste

I'm not familiar with American law but from what I understood, the others veterans were not eligible for the euthanasia, and Hunt by giving them the pills was breaking his hippocratic oath. Since he thought he was going to die in the car he made Hayes promise that he was going to continue with his mission if something happened to him. Since Hunt survived the accident he put Hayes in an impossible position, because Hayes is legally required to report Hunt to the medical board or else he's considered an accessory to the crime and he can loose his licence. And since Hayes not only owes Hunt his life but he also saw how much Hunt meant to the hospital, for him the easiest was leaving so he could be at peace with his conscience.

I don't blame Hayes for his decision. He did it to keep custody of his kids but he doesn't want to rat out a good Doctor for doing somethings in some way of government rules for physicians assisted Death rules. only logical things was him moving back to his old country where if Owen did follow through his idea of helping some veteran to end their life when they decide it their time. Hayes wouldn't loose his kids cause of the country he will be in, so in theory hopefully U.S. officials wouldn't be able to take his kids away from him having knowledge what Owen plan was. He wanted to take himself of the picture. I know the Army Veteran Owen is going to help with physician assisted death, those people got their disease or what they are dealing with from doing certain jobs that put their health on the line to the point it will become more painful when the disease progress more.
Well in my opinion I blame teddy and owen for killing andrew and ever since i hated them i loved teddy and tom together but all cuz of owen hayes is leaving, Ik he claimed that he wanted to move his kids back to Ireland but cuz Owen’s request to him at the end of last year. He didn’t want to keep a secret and yet, he also couldn’t bring himself to admit to the truth.

Maybe at this point they should just end the show, there is no point of dragging it unnecessarily besides this trend of bringing in new characters only to end their role so soon has really become annoying. I feel like even the actors are also tired of being on this show at this point.
Why was he even brought into the show? He was introduced as a potential love interest for Meredith, the "gift" from Cristina, Mcwidow, even though Mer was still in that weird and unconvincing relationship with Deluca at the time. Then the writers decided to let go of this and never wrote him any storylines of his own. All of that "building" of a potential relationship ended up happening behind the screen. Again, he was tosses aside for another weird, creepy guy. So.. the writers finally realized that they won't be a couple and there is nothing to do with him so just discarded him? This is an insult to the actor and the viewers. Not that I was such a fan of Hayes and Mer, but they could write him as a more than a pretty faced "gift".
Feels like the end of Grey Sloan Hospital. Many doctors and nurses say goodbyes after their last shifts now Hayes is moving back to Dublin with his kids. Hopefully Farouk's feeling much better after surgery/ heart transplant.

Hayes was the only person since derek that belongs with mer they really got each other and im really pissed that they got rid of him and i am mad that they didnt show mer and hayes get together because that story line would have made the show better and worth watching this season and the fact that they were making them get really close in season 17 and then with season 18 where they had already dated and they barely hangout anymore and now that mer is with nick it sucks it ruined greys no offence its just im not sure about watching the rest of greys after that i mean probably should have learned it by now they build up the characters and they leave or die.

And Alex… imagine all the drama with Izzie coming along and then the Jo - Alex - Link - Amelia - Kai realtionship(s). I really hope that this is the return of at least one of them 😩

Justin has to do what is best for him and he wants to be with his family. //If he did he would know that both Link and Jo lie to him about brother/sister relationship because they had a crush for one and other. And Izzie would have to came back. Arizona wouldn't give up fetal surgery... maybe be in charge of peds until a new replacement 🤷♀️ About the head of trauma, I think Teddy can be in charge but they are losing surgeons right and left.

That isn't what he's doing at all. He knows that Owen is breaking the law and he knows he needs to report that. Listening to Bailey wax poetic about Owen's goodness made him feel like he couldn't expose Owen so rather than work alongside a doctor with ethical concerns, he's walking off the job and giving Owen the kindness of not telling Bailey the truth.

@@noashom He would have definitely been the rational one of the bunch, but I meant more towards his relationship with Megan. They had something good going, plus, their boys are the same age. I’m glad this season his character was tethered with the Altman-Hunts, because honestly Hayes floated here and there without much of a connection to the rest of the cast.

I think the worst part for introducing characters like Hayes, is they're written to be potential love interests for Meredith, but are ultimately written off. While I do love Nick and Meredith, it was stupid to introduce somebody called "McWidow" and be hand picked by Cristina, only to brush him aside for another character you just so happen to bring back after not appearing for 4 seasons.
The same goes for Nathan Riggs, he was written to be Meredith's love interest after Derek's death with a lot of build up, but ultimately, they didn't want to renew the actors contract and brought back Owen's sister to give him a farewell, only to off-screen write off their relationship as well.
Also it's hilarious that the reason the characters are written off are both related to Owen.
Oh, I remember this guy from Shameless (Irish carpenter that dated Fiona). Glad to see him in something again.

I kinda hate Owen for this. He put Hayes in an impossible situation and therefore not only made him quit, but put more problems on the hospital which was already drowning.
Am I the only one who remembers that a couple of seasons ago Hunt did not believe in mercy killings? Teddy had a terminal patient who wanted help dying and Hunt was mortified and would not help. Did the writers forget Hunts stand on this subject?
@@raephaelemasirnille5794 People often change their minds on strong stances they have when it hits close to home for them. It's likely the writers were highlighting that fact. People can feel strongly about a lot of things until the issue touches them personally.
@@AuthorJCCarpenter yes, it's possible to change your mind on an issue but this is not the first time the writers have totally flipped. When Richard was very ill it was finally diagnosed his hip replacement was making him sick. But Richard having hip replacement never previously came up. And the show was on for 15, 16 years at that point. I'm thinking it's just bad writing again. We'll see if Owen tells Teddy what's going on if his changing his mind on that subject comes up.
@@raephaelemasirnille5794 hunt only felt that way because he had Marcy killed a soldier just before the help arrived to save them, his feelings on teddy’s patient was PTSD not his actual opinion. He did come around at the end of that episode.

Is Hayes actually leaving? Like did the actor come out and say this would be the end of his character? Cause if so, than that's a damn shame. I liked Hayes, but I really wished we got so much more for him. Sure, he definitely wasn't an Alex or Arizona, but he seemed like a good peds doctor.
The logic behind doing what's best for your kids is sound. But moving them again (first to Switzerland then to Seattle and now to Ireland) seems odd. If your kids are struggling, why move them to a country they didn't grow up in? Why not keep them with their friends/family (Abby's family, I think, live somewhere close by)? Why not keep them where they grew up with Abby for some stability?
Switzerland I think his wife was still alive probably they both moved for a job ,she must have died there so they came to Seattle because that's where her sister lives and Christina hooked him up with a recommendation.
@@walkz007 No, I don't think that's entirely right. There's a scene a few seasons ago where he tells Mer he took the kids and fled to Switzerland after Abby died because it was the "furthest place [he] could think of." I believe you're correct about the reasons he moved to Seattle, however.

i don't think hayes is actually gone. richard flood hasn't said anything or given any sort of goodbye yet so i think hayes might be coming back to deal with the situation or tell bailey the truth about owen or something like that. either way, greys wouldn't just let him go like that, i think there's another big storyline coming up

I love how people quit jobs with no notice on TV programmes! In the UK a consultant (which I believe is the equivalent to an attending usually has at least a 2 or 3 month notice period! I imagine it's the same in the US? That said it wouldn't make for a very dramatic exit 😂

Hayes is smart to leave. Anyone who works at this hospital is cursed. Doctors here die at an alarming rate due to plane crash, bombing, mass shootings, fire. He almost died in a car crash.

This was definitely seemed more of OUT OF THE BLUE decision. We didn’t get the chance to see the story line up to this decision
You know on Kitchen nightmares or in a restaurant where although it's the chef with the ridiculous food, the servers take the heat? This is kind of like that. Ellen and all the other actors run and tell us they have a great new season, with things we've never seen before and how it's going to be a blast but then they deliver this kind of content. They know it's nothing like before but they can't trash their show. This writing is terrible and I find that they keep trying to excite us with new characters and never know where to take them. This dude hasn't even had a true storyline yet and now he's leaving. It's so obvious they're writing episode by episode and have no real blueprint or plan.
They also have a tendency to ruin past story lines. That last scene with Megan and Riggs and Farouk on the beach was beautiful. They bring her back and it's "oh we broke up." Ruined a perfectly good ending for both of those characters. There was so much potential with Hayes, and he's such a good actor. A total waste

I'm not familiar with American law but from what I understood, the others veterans were not eligible for the euthanasia, and Hunt by giving them the pills was breaking his hippocratic oath. Since he thought he was going to die in the car he made Hayes promise that he was going to continue with his mission if something happened to him. Since Hunt survived the accident he put Hayes in an impossible position, because Hayes is legally required to report Hunt to the medical board or else he's considered an accessory to the crime and he can loose his licence. And since Hayes not only owes Hunt his life but he also saw how much Hunt meant to the hospital, for him the easiest was leaving so he could be at peace with his conscience.
@@tehilaepouery9799 Owen asking Hayes to carry on what he was doing was wrong. If Owen wants to break the law and risk his medical license that's his choice. But it's wrong to ask another doctor to do that. I usually defend Owen but I can't on this one; he was dead wrong for asking that of Hayes.

I don't blame Hayes for his decision. He did it to keep custody of his kids but he doesn't want to rat out a good Doctor for doing somethings in some way of government rules for physicians assisted Death rules. only logical things was him moving back to his old country where if Owen did follow through his idea of helping some veteran to end their life when they decide it their time. Hayes wouldn't loose his kids cause of the country he will be in, so in theory hopefully U.S. officials wouldn't be able to take his kids away from him having knowledge what Owen plan was. He wanted to take himself of the picture. I know the Army Veteran Owen is going to help with physician assisted death, those people got their disease or what they are dealing with from doing certain jobs that put their health on the line to the point it will become more painful when the disease progress more.
Well in my opinion I blame teddy and owen for killing andrew and ever since i hated them i loved teddy and tom together but all cuz of owen hayes is leaving, Ik he claimed that he wanted to move his kids back to Ireland but cuz Owen’s request to him at the end of last year. He didn’t want to keep a secret and yet, he also couldn’t bring himself to admit to the truth.
WHYYYYYYY?!?!? and the fact that bailey just kept talking and talking and talking about the hunt family as if she didn’t care about Hayes and his kids… she didn’t even ask if he was ok 🥺
Maybe at this point they should just end the show, there is no point of dragging it unnecessarily besides this trend of bringing in new characters only to end their role so soon has really become annoying. I feel like even the actors are also tired of being on this show at this point.
Why was he even brought into the show? He was introduced as a potential love interest for Meredith, the "gift" from Cristina, Mcwidow, even though Mer was still in that weird and unconvincing relationship with Deluca at the time.
Then the writers decided to let go of this and never wrote him any storylines of his own.
All of that "building" of a potential relationship ended up happening behind the screen. Again, he was tosses aside for another weird, creepy guy.
So.. the writers finally realized that they won't be a couple and there is nothing to do with him so just discarded him? This is an insult to the actor and the viewers.
