Hold up, the detectives were really good actors
I agree!
hey power to you!
I thought it was all good fun. I didn’t take anything seriously. I loved the TikTok dance at the beginning of each episode. Yes, it was a whodunnit but I didn’t care who did it. It was entertaining just to be a fly on the wall. I’ll save my criticism and cynicism for Handmaids Tale.
Exactly 💯
hahah fair!
You are spot on about the writing, casting and soap opera overtones. The best part about the production was the set design, IMO. Great review-- thank you!
thank you :)
Kidmans accent changing all the time he me confused
Why was that? Her changing accent is explained in the show - or haven't you watched it??
Too many bad reviews for me to even try. Seems like 90% of netflixs shows and movies are terrible. Plus nicole kidmans plastic surgery is so distracting to me now
I had the same soap opera vibes! The way dark music starts playing are the characters look off into the distance and the camera zooms in!! I really liked the show, but it was definitely very soapy.
Did you see Bono’s daughter in Behind her eyes ??
For a minute I thought the father of Isabelle's baby was going to be Tag.
I'm still confused about the ALMOST sex scene with Amelia and Benjy. They are hot and heavy, but then she gets on all fours, he freezes, and then they just stop, with Amelia being frustrated, I thought it might have been an idea that Benjy was somehow? Gay? In love with Shooter? What did I miss?
I think you missed the point - yes.
He tried to turn the vibe from sexual to romantic by turning her over, trying to enforce eye contact. She's frustrated and gets dressed complaining about how 'perfect' he is. Basically signifying he's more in love with her than she is with him.
For some reason i was convinced Amelia was just acting concerned and it was her who did it. Something about her seeking out the cops often to point the finger at others concerned me. Low- key dissapointed with the motive. Abby could have just as easily sneaked an abortion pill rather than a sedative in Merrits drink and caused a misscarrige. It's not like Abby can't get her hands on the abortion pill and you can't detect the pill since it contains natural hormones so she would have gotten away with it
I wondered this too about Amelia and everyone else. Twists are challenging to pull off nowadays. This really doesn't do this as everyone looks guilty. In the end, Abigail being the one makes sense. Even though there are clichés, the writing provides thematic continuity
I think you've missed the point of the story. Totally.
fair points!
I sort of watched this show slept through most of it and fast forward through the end ! I don’t know what was worse the acting or the casting ? The AI who obviously wrote the script! Or the Mickey Mouse Bollywood dance at beginning ! Every other word was F😡🤬💩 Or ing! Terrible show
You are an easy marker. 6/10 max
I've read the book and thought this was an improvement because it added more of a dark comedy element. I liked Eve Hewson in Bad Sisters but she kind of fell flat for me here, I would have liked to have actually seen her and Meghann Fahy switch roles since Fahy is being a bit typecast here and I think she has more range. Nicole Kidman's performance also didn't work for me due to her ever changing accent and flat expressions. Reynor and Fanning were the best part, they brought a hilarious campiness that felt intentional (unlike some other parts of the show).
So on point!
It was on the nose at times.
Also, Eve Hewson was great in The Knick.
Such Awull series ! Terrible acting!
I’m right there with you! I gave it a 7.5 but I was happily entertained just the same. A bit light and too soapy but fun. I did really like the female detective - thought she was great and I like Michael Beech as the me detective but it wasn’t a standout role. I agree with just about every thing you said. Great review!
Paula from crazy ex gf
yay great comment and happy you watched Lydia
I loved the dance !!!
to each their own LOLOL
Did you see Bono’s daughter in Behind her eyes ??
never seen it!
@@SteveVarleyShow you must. It’s very hard to guess what’s goin on
I thought the dance was quite ambivalent... It's fun, but ominous. I experienced it that way. The cast talks about having fun, but the director said it came from dance in nightmare sequence. The nightmare sequence wasn't shoot, but the dance part of it was. It totally gave me those vibe! To jolly to be real.
Well...that's the feeling I got.
Overall, I found the show more interesting. I didn't think that sooo many things are grating. I understand the criticisms though.
p. s. That final cut dance was grating, indeed.
hahah thanks for sharing!
It's a slick, polished family drama with a clever mystery attached. All the cast are terrific, the location is gorgeous, and it's also a lot of fun. Very entertaining.
polished?! no way!
Please review Kaos! It was so engaging- like Romeo + Juliet.
I gotta check it out!
