I don't comment much on youtube videos but wanted to say something about Michael. Before I had my TV series on Animal Planet, I started off as a movie animal trainer in the early 80's and worked on a lot of movies and TV shows. In the late 80's I got a chance to work my dogs periodically on Highway to Heaven. I don't know if a lot of people knew that Michael, wrote, starred, produced, and directed that TV series, and the entire crew was awesome. The days were short and mostly shot in the Malibu area where he lived. One of the nicest and most professional human beings I have ever worked with. Anyone who worked with him will tell you the same thing. I cannot believe it has been 30 yrs.
I'm sure you meant to say 30 years,
It was so goos tv show, so Angels decided to really hire him.
Birth Name Maurice Orowitz Jewish father and Catholic Mom
I actually heard he was an ego maniac and treated others actors bad?
I saw Michael Landon at the Malibu Feed barn many, many years ago. He was with his wife and some of his kids. He was smiling at everyone and I have to say, he was one, GREAT looking man!!
Only Carson could have pulled this off with such grace and humor. Gosh I miss that man. End of an era
Actually, had he, Carson , kept his mouth shut while Landon delivered his powerful rebuke of the tabloid press and immediately there afterwards ..the moments of silence Landon's cadence and phrasing offered would have had an even more profound impact on the audience. Instead, Carson's unease - which provoked his repeated interruptions - almost ruined, certainly , detracted from the message the statements carried.
mano fiske People like you never cease to amaze me.
Yes I miss him too my Mother loved him
@@MeTooWhatNow RUclips is just chocked full of Knowallogists who always have something stupid to add, like mano!

Landon was a class act! Kudos for him to call out the tabloids!
@r brooks williams he proved them wrong
Hands down one of the kindest human beings to ever walk on this earth.
Hardly.
@@MarkHarrison733he was a drunken cheater
This is the attitude I want to have when I know my dying day is very near the doctor gives me the long face I hope I can just smile and say thank you I'm going to heaven 🙏
Both men are missed. True originals.
Loved Barney Martin who played Jerrys dad in Seinfeld

@@worldview2134 The scum that have to leave the ignorant negative comments or just have to hit dislike really are the cancer of society like Michael Landon said about the tabloids🙌🏼🙋🏻♀️ I’ll always remember and miss Michael Landon & Johnny Carson❤️❤️ They really don’t make men like that anymore😔
I read somewhere that Michael didn't have the best childhood, well you sure couldn't tell it the way he lived his life, to the fullest, full of love, of family, of children. What a legend, both of these men were. I remenber watching Little Joe over 50 years ago, and I couldn't wait til it came on. Thanks for the memories.
his mother attempted suicide several times. he once saved her from drowning as a way of killing herself. and how did she repay him? he was wetting a bed due to all the stress from her suicide attempts, so she hung the dirty sheets out for all the neighbours to see, to shame him :(
I saw this the night it was taped. My thoughts at the time were that Michael Landon was a very brave man to be facing that dreadful disease with a smile on his face, and a great attitude. He knew that Johnny Carson would treat him with dignity. The entire segment was conducted with style and class. Michael Landon’s final TV appearance was a triumph of the soul.
Fell in love with him when he played little Jo in Bonanza, then little house on the prairie and highway to heaven.
I understand how you could feel that way. He is the reason I started watching Highway to Heaven again on NetFlix.
Kevin Olson Same here. I’m binge watching every season right now on Amazon Prime. Almost done with season 3. Wonderful series and the hope, faith and inspiration in all the episodes is what we could all use right now. Michael Landon had a great heart and told beautiful stories.
I once read an interview where Landon was asked how it was so easy for him to cry while cameras were rolling. He said he had a close relationship with his father. When he was an adult he had learned that his father was heinous physically abused as a child and all he had to do was think of his dad being abused , and the water works would surge. That's some dedication to go to that dark of a place.
When Michael was speaking seriously you could hear a pin drop in the audience. I've never seen such reverence for an actor.
Actors, and people in general from that era, were cut from a different mold.
Brian Trimble ..Yes & I fear this generation will have to learn the true privileges of Freedom & Democracy by fighting for it again. The respect has gone.
I totally was mesmerised listen to both Michael’s calming answers to Johnny’s endearing questions of Michael. As said
by another both of these men were grown during a time of ‘gentlemen’
Until "Johnny" opened his big mouth(not once but _twice_ ) and almost destroyed "the moment".
The little house on the prairie was my jam as a kid!! Michael had such a great and loving energy about him!!!
Me too, I was a bit obsessed lol. I just found it on Amazon Prime and been rewatching some of them.
I have every episode on dvd, I love watching them still.
I love the boyish laugh of Landon, and the friendship of he and Carson
Bonanza, Little house on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven; Michael brought decency, encouragement and commitment to family to television at a time when the Television started going in the opposite direction. Thank you, Lord, for the life of Michael Landon.
Amen!
Well said. He was an Angel on Earth.
@James Henderson , that's completely untrue. Are you just looking to get attention?
Amen 😇
Watching Highway to Heaven and all the episodes dealing with cancer and Michael and Victor French both died from cancer.
Who in the world would give a thumbs down to this great beautiful man R.I.H

They are heartless morons. I still watch Little House on the Prairie. The greatest show ever.
Perhaps they dont like that Landon died.

@@ellenabendschoen4990 me too! I am working from home right now due to COVID and Little House is on every morning! I have been watching the show since I was little and never get tired of it! :)
So right Michael, media is the cancer of society. That little clip played made me tear up a bit ☹️
Same going on today in 2021!!! The News cancer!
Yes Media, News, talk shows etc. are all cancers. A cancer of society’s soul.
Tv Media is a shameful tool, full of lies and very biased because they and all their journalists are owned and horrid
@@hollydavis2261 they are unable to think for themselves. Puppets for their networks! Very sad, but I have no mercy or patience for any of them. Thankfully I don’t watch or read any of their nonsense. I choose not to be insulted by the mindless. ✌️

Common sense and sensitivity. Wonderful Actor and person. Love His sense of humor
My wife died of the same disease in 2017. She had the same attitude and sense of humor as Michael did.
I remember watching little house on the prairie,,Mr Landon showed me how to b a man ,and how to b a father from watching that show ,,he was a big impact in my life , may he rest in peace ,and may he be with our Lord Jesus Christ ,,,great man

Michael Landon was one hell of an actor, wish there were more actors like him, RIP Michael and Johnny.
Micheal was a true inspiration for every generation
Do you think he was a better actor than Marlon Brando? I saw Michael Landon act, he's pretty good of an actor. I don't know if actors and actresses like to be called "pretty good" than "really good"? Yeah come to think of it, he probably worked hard playing these roles in movies.
I feel you, Mr. Underwood. They don't make them like that anymore, sir
@@BigLee93 what's your point? Do you have one?
Landon was just an average actor.
Such an awesome guy and roll model. I wish there was more of us like him. Rip.
Michael Landon was a kindhearted gentleman. At 3:36, true words.
Rip Michael Landon and Johnny Carson . Here’s Johnny loved that line.

My favourite actor, such a talented and lovely guy. His films always had a meaning in life, he was and is still special. God bless you Michael Landon, one of the greats.
A hero, as the Little Joe Cartwright, when i was a little boy, in the 60s. Great Actor. R.I.P Michael Landon; we´ll meet again .... on the other side ...
Michael Landon had a brilliant sense of humour! Good to see him having a good laugh even though it was stormy weather in his life. Eugene Maurice Orowitz A.K.A Michael Landon from the Little House on the Prairie was a very talented actor. Gone too soon. Rest in Peace Brave Soldier

Can’t believe that he only two months later after this interview past away...
Thank you for sharing this. Such a lovely man. 💜
I loved his little house on the prairie movies.
Great Actor. Great Descent Honest Loving Human Being. A Great Man. Thank you ❤
My Grand-Daughter and I watch "Little House on the Prairie" weekly....I don't have the heart to tell her "Charles" is dead. She absolutely idolizes him......she says he's just like my "Papa"......(me) which brings a huge smile to my face and a song in my heart. I'm old enough to remember the shock when we all found out Mr. Landon was sick.......I know it's cliche, but, he was taken far too young. Through syndication he's still teaching good, old fashioned values of tolerance and humility. I know you're resting in peace Mr. Landon....a short but powerful life. What more can any of us ask for........
Love these guys.👍👍👍👍such a GREAT ACTOR Highway to Heaven was my all-time favorite
I thinks ""Where pigeons go to die " is the best movie he ever did. So touching.
My mom never was big on TV and celebrities but there was one person she absolutely loved and adored and that was Michael Landon.
Miss ya michael.
Highway to heaven such a great wholesome family values show, teaches you how to treat people better.

As Ailing Michael Landon was with cancer,he still had his hearty, infectious laugh,he lost a lot of weight by this taping,he was 53 he was a good actor,he’s missed by many.
Outstanding actor. Grew up watching little house and highway to heaven. Im only 38 and still watch it. So handsome too.
He died seven weeks after this show. Welcome Home, Michael.

Breaks my heart to see this. Miss them both.
it’s so heartbreaking that these two greats are gone and with them a great era. The crappy fake news we have now is as bad or worse then the enquirer was back in the day.
One of those situations where ill never understand how anyone can give a video a thumbs down.
My wife was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Christmas morning '06 when she had a gran mal seizure just before
we were to get up and open gifts with our 11yr old daughter and our 8yr old son.
She did everything she could for 101/2 years. She did get to see both our children graduate from high-school and our daughter from UW-MADISON.

I loved Michael Landon since the beginning when he was playing in bananza
I wish I could have seen this series... I'm cryin' watchin' this.
Landon died two months after this aired. Always like his acting and loved Carson as well.
Such a Brave man a great actor he was a legend REST IN PEACE MICHAEL GOD BLESS YOU AMEN
Great attitude under such drastic news. To God be the glory.
Omg I miss this guy so much. His work is truly genius!
Handsome & hilarious till the end;Rest in Peace both of you two
I remember seeing that on tv when it came out on tv Really shocking he passed weeks after that aired. Those two were class acts
Beautiful Human Being!!
A man with class and dignity.
He was such a great actor. He was so good in Little house on the Prairie and highway to heaven
What a class act. RIP Little Joe.
Michael Landon laughed all the way to his own funeral good for him.
I was born 1960 the year after bonanza was first aired on TV. I got into the series about 1965 I thought this looks good when I first saw little Joe I thought wow he looks handsome that's when I started to grow up with the guy who played little Joe Michael Landon .then came little house on the prairie, and highway to heaven. I am now 61years old IV got dvds from all his shows and numerous photos of him when he passed away I was devastated I have so many memories of growing up with my hero I will never forget him
It’s still a visceral reaction of angst remembering watching this and feeling hope that he would pull through. As a kid, we practically grew up with Bonanza.
Michael landon was a class act..glad he called out the tabloids
God, they are all gone- the incredible Michael Landon and Johnny Carson and his sidekick Ed McMahon- what a loss, RIP Gentleman 🤦😢💓💓😥😥😘😘
Passionate actor. I recently met him in a dream.
A great man. We miss him.
Little House is one of my favorites shows ever 🥰
Class and Courage
He showed us unparalleled dignity
Just amazing, I miss these days.
Hopefully they post the last part of the interview @Johnny Carson
I remember watching this when it first ran. Michael amazingly composed, strong willed and accepting of his fate here...Johnny looked rattled at the beginning but Michael put him at ease... Michael was dead less than 2 months later. His "Highway to Heaven" friend and costar Victor French died less than 2 years earlier of cancer... It was a strange fast ending for Michael... "Highway to Heaven" may be the best TV show of all time...
Flippin’ Awesome!
I remember watching him as a kid. Had to move the rabbit ears to pick it up as times🤣
Only 4 channels back in them days!
Great times. Simpler days. Only if my son could have known them.
Crazy what 35 years can do.
the most heartbreaking realization i had at that final clip playing, if Micheal Landon would've survived his battle with cancer i would've gladly watch that pilot and show, now though it can't come true.
If I'm not mistaken, that pilot still aired after his death.
I've watched them in all this shows I was so heartbroken when I when I heard that you was dying from cancer my heart goes out to all the family that it has lost him
How can so many people give a thumbs down for this?
Love and miss you Pa....
Aww he made a pilot for the Fall. Was this episode ever shown on TV after he died? Michael left us too soon.
These guys were fantastic bring back this kind of actors there shot now
Nobody beats pancreatic cancer. That said...I suspect there is something wondrous on "the other side".
Hey, conception is the onset of a terminal illness.
As Walt Kelly said through his POGO comic strip characters, "Don't take life so serious, son. It ain't nohow permanent."
Chuck Jones gave Bugs Bunny a variant on the line: "...You'll never get out of it alive."
Michael Landon passed away July 1st 1991 age 54 pancreatic & liver cancer.
Pancreatic cancer doesn't have to be a death sentence. He was on track doing the Gerson Therapy. After this show the pharmaceutical companies got a hold of him with a new promising chemo program. He left the Gerson Therapy and they put him in the grave. Before he died he called the Gerson clinic and said he wished he had stayed with it.
My brother followed the same path. Don't put all your trust in someone just because they wear a white lab coat.
@@mzimmerman123 Believe me..I don't trust. I think they'd rather have me dead to sell my organs...I am NOT an organ donor..used to be. Sorry about your families experience. Will look up the Gerson Therapy.. There are cures for cancer...Drs. that know the cure...are suicided. It's SICK To parents with young children..I brainwashed my children from a very young age (3)..JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE AN ADULT...DOESN'T MAKE THEM RIGHT...
@@MommaZim2 there is a documentary called The Beautiful Truth a woman was interviewed who was going through pancreatic cancer the same time as Michael and she was still hear 20 years later. She talked about this very same Johnny Carson episode. There is a lot more current RUclips videos though.
I loved Michael Landon’s laugh...that was not acting, it was the real thing. It was the same as “Little” Joe, as Charles Ingalls, and as Jonathan the angel.
Thats not fair that scene from that movie made onions appear omg
