    Oh no! My heart stopped in my chest on this title. I was so excited for your recent success, and so it’s hard when you have a bump in the road. Tuning in, it’s like I know you personally, and so it’s like we are friends and every setback you have is hard on me too! As viewers, we celebrate the progress and pray during the setbacks. Love ya, Jaquie. Good luck 👍🏻🍀

      +Chronically Jaquie go to the drugstore and get some Flonase (generic is fine). Spray it on the area a bit before you re-access your port and let it dry. When it's dry you can clean it and get sterile and do your normal accessing and it will reduce the irritation. I react to all adhesives bc I react to everything lol. My pain dr told me to do this when I was on fentanyl patches and it works. It's amazing. Hang in there fellow army wife!

      I wish I saw this comment earlier! I'm also allergic to all adhesives, and just had my 48 hour heart monitor, and I reacted pretty badly. I need to try that Idea the next time!

      There is a cavilon spray made by 3M that we use for dressings in the nursing home. It forms a barrier on your skin that will still allow dressings to stick. May help with reactions.

    It's ok to cry Jaquie. You have to let that frustration out somehow so you can summon the strength to carry on. It really sucks that Judd is being called out right now. I'm glad your mom is still living with you even though she has to work. God never gives you more than you can handle (although I have been in situations that I think God has forgotten about me, but He always brings through it.) He will bring you through this too. I truly believe that and I know you do too. I'm praying for you and thinking about you,

Thanks you, and I hope you’re ok! ❤️

  • @wtpb
    @wtpb 7 лет назад +17

    If this looks like it might be an ongoing problem, I'd be asking my doctor if it was possible to order a spare replacement tube to have on standby. That way he could order the next one when he switches it out and there would be no waiting. Going multiple days without nutrition every few months is not ideal when it's a simple switch. If he has a spare one on hand and can change it out faster, then it shouldn't adversely affect the weight gain and progress you have already made.

    • @michellewheeler559
      @michellewheeler559 7 лет назад +2

      Lyndel Turner it's not as simple as that most hospitals at least the bigger hospitals have access to whatever size they need and yes it can be pretty simply replaced by IR it's the frustration of waiting and with Jacquies body I don't know if IR can do it or if her GI prefers IR undersedation or anesthesia. It's just not as simple as having an extra on hand. That isn't the issue, if it was just the g tube easy fix just change it out, but with the gj tube it has to be wire lead into the jujunum. There's a lot more to it and depending on her Drs and their game plan not everyone will have the same plan. I'm sure she wishes it was just as easy to have an extra tube to ease the waiting game, but i like you thinking to speed things up, but i have a feeling with her special situations and possible side effects her drs would take more precautions, but I could be wrong.Like my son's Drs told me if his ever stops flushing or we have issues with not being able run feeds they want me to.stop feeds, depending on how long he's been without feeds get to er to confirm it's out of jujunum, if it is have them pull the tube and I have the back up coreflow they want me to put in till we can make our 6 to 8 hour trip to his hospital where IR can simply replace it, they might keep him for a night just because last time it dislodged 24 hours after put in.

    • @wtpb
      @wtpb 7 лет назад +1

      My point was that not having one on hand could mean she has to go longer without nutrition unnecessarily. That not having one on hand could mean that there is an added wait, on top of the other complications posed by Jaquie's situation. I in no way intended to trivialize the procedure when using the word 'simple'. I do understand that they sedated Jaquie for her last replacement, and understand that there is a likelihood that they may likely do so for this instance. The difference being that if her GI did have a spare on hand, he may be able to get her on his schedule to replace it without having to wait the 'extra' time for it to arrive.
      Jaquie gave me the impression in this vlog, that she believes, this could be a reoccurring situation due to the positioning of her tube/button. If it is a foreseeable reoccurring complication I would expect a specialist to be prepared for that eventuality in future by securing an additional GJ tube/button for when this occurs.

    • @michellewheeler559
      @michellewheeler559 7 лет назад +1

      I understand what you're saying now, sorry I misunderstood, but I'm not saying it's never done but I have yet to see it done especially in an immune deficit person because it is another probable source of infection, and that could be very dangerous. I like your thinking but I doubt that it's feasible, but again I could be wrong. I just pray she gets it replaced and a plan in place in case this does become a frequent occurance.

    • @wtpb
      @wtpb 7 лет назад +2

      I would assume they come in sterile packaging much like all medical supplies, so there would be no risk of infection.

    • @michellewheeler559
      @michellewheeler559 7 лет назад +1

      Yes that is true they do but if they were to place another site for it to go into that is a hole that is cut into the body and stomach with the j part of the tube wire fed into the jujunum. It's not the packaging that is a risk it is the risk once it is out of the package into the body because as soon as it hits the air it's nonsteril unless done in the operating room where the entire environment is sterile plus it's a foren object into the body which always gives risk of infection and the body not tolerating it. It is constant care to keep these sites clean because it leads directly into the body. Same thing with the port site where Infusions are done there's a risk there as well in cases like Jacquies and my son the Drs decided the the benefits outweigh the risk but that doesn't mean that infection to any of the sites anyone has isn't a factor because it comes in sterile packaging.

    Oh no! That was quite a set of unfortunate events and I understand that you feel down... It's very frustrating when we make progress in one area only for something else to have a setback. You missing Judd also doesn't help. And if you couldn't really get any nutrition for an entire day.. well, I know I get "hangry" when I just skip one meal. I hope they can switch the tube out really soon so you can get back to moving forward. Can they give you nutrition in some other temporary way if things move too slowly? Can you get calories through an IV? I'm totally clueless about that sort of thing. But as you said, things will work out. We're all hoping it will be sooner rather than later!

    Hang in there girl! At least Judd will be in country. I can say my husband is in the Georgia Air National Guard and he and his aircraft were called to Puerto Rico. Right now they are sling loading sand bags to repair a dam. There is no cell service in most of the are so he messages me when he can. It reminds me of when he went to Kosovo just after we got married 16 years ago when I was lucky enough to hear from him once a month. Hang in there bc you have got this! It could be worse. If you need anything or just want to talk to another army wife feel free to contact me on messenger through Facebook armywife4life78 Casey Thompson or instagram beautybroken78. I'm here for you. Sending hugs your way!

    Its good that you have a bigger hospital near you. We only have a very small hospital 30mins away and the bigger one is two hours away (but it still isn't that good) so mostly if there is a problem that our small hospital if it is an emergency people are flown by helicopter to the city, which happened to my mum and we couldn't all go in the helicopter with her so my little brother and I had to take a seven hour train trip to meet up with my mum and dad in the city. It has been a hectic couple of weeks

    It seems like with chronic illness there are days/weeks when things are going along normally and then there are days/weeks when EVERYTHING goes wrong; it's as if there's no in between. That's how things tend to go for me anyways. I really feel for you; you must be feeling just so frustrated and exhausted. My pup and I send you lots of extra love and spoons

    I know how you feelwith Judd getting called to work at the most inconvenient times. My sister is in the army and always has things related to the army to do on most of the family’s birthdays. Especially mine.

    Can your doctor order an extra feeding tube for you? So when your feeding tube stops working or kinks or anything like that you can replace it immediately (or at least very quickly) instead of having to wait a few days for a new one to arrive?

      Sophie Van Der Sinckt replacing a g tube orj tube is easy.. however she has a GJ tube which involves threading an extension from the stomach to the intestines and cannot be done at home
