There’s a few names you might already be familiar with when it comes to Double Cross: Elvira, Brutus, Treasure, Tricycle, Garbo, and Tate. Standby for more coverage of six of Britain’s best over the next few weeks.
Can't wait. The pronunciation of foreign names is excellent, (except for some reason Argyll). I bet she'd make a great agent. What skills can you bring to the war Astrid?
@@mogaman28 It is comedy. He made trolling into artform so refined he earned an Iron Cross. Usually it was awarded to soldiers. Not to mention the fact he started as freelancer and British were first to notice that someone outside allied intelligence networks is fooling Germans.

Even Churchill was soviet, Shell Corp owned him and he did their bidding for them to push the commie agenda in return for monies to support his gambling and lavish lifestyle

Juan Pujol is my favorite. He starts off as a Walter Mitty like character who is so persistent about his fantasies of becoming a spy he actually became one. Fueled by his imagination he dreams up a tangled web of deception. The tempting question is how much did Canaris know or suspect and how much did he enable and promote Garbo to scuttle Hitler?
My Dad was a radio Operator, Artillery, attached 52nd lowland Div. in 1943. He had his part in Fortitude North. He & co. would be driven in Jeeps at speed up aand down Scottish mountains him and his 50 or so radio colleagues from 1st Mountain Rgt RA making all the signals for a (fictitious) division on exxcerises This he thought was tremendous fun. Later he participated i n thee Battle for the Scheldt specifically Infatuate Walcharen. And stopped having fun.
Thankfully, Hitler believed XX double cross info and NOT Rommel who really thought Normandy would be the spot! Thanks Astrid! Always a treat when a new Spies n Ties pops up!

How did "turning spies" actually work? Germans certainly gave an ultimatum of do or die, but did the British have a similar law of "spies will be shot, unless"? That's how it certainly feels like considering the 100% turn rate.
Chicken farmer! What a wonderful cover story. Who would suspect a chicken farmer of anything devious or under-handed? By the way, spectacular blue scarf, darling.
@@ladyzapzap9514 In Pujol's case it was "please, hire me. I want to work for you!", being ignored by the British. Then becoming a German agent, fooling them for free until he was contacted by the mi5.
Great episode ~ but you need to change your lighting setup: the shadow from the frame of your glasses is running right across your eyes up-down, which is quite distracting and makes it look a bit like you're wearing Joker (from Batman) makeup... which I'm pretty sure you're not 🤔
This was actually filmed a little while ago, it's lifted from the D-Day project in case anyone missed it! We have since changed the set, if you've seen the previous episode of Spies & Ties that's how it currently is. Thanks for watching!

You really need to make a video just for Juan Pujol. It will look like a comedy but...
Don't forget Zigzag...Eddie Chapman, the main character in the semi fictional documentary, "Triple Cross"

If Astrid ever signs off without saying "Darlings", I fear the end of the world must be near.

And yet British counter-intelligence was run by a Soviet agent. It was a strange old war.
What’s changed?!?!
That guy was in British counter-intelligence. But he didn't quite run the show. He just had a lot of influence. Their is a difference.

Usually it was a turn or die, turn or get locked up forever, or they turned themselves in.
