The transformation didn't change skin color so how come discrimination stop, being pretty or ugly had nothing to do with it, prejudices occur because of race, religion, castes, creeds etc. Plus this transformation just changed peoples eyes yellow put obscene amount of make up and shiny clothes and called it being "Pretty".
Lot of such teen/young adult novel series turned into movies seem to being made, way too many.
