I've only ever scrapped out a couple of modern crt's for the yokes and degausing cable. Actually one of the cables wasn't copper so now I know it was probably aluminium. Great video Chris.
I scrap these and similar TVs I find while street scrapping at the kerbside, and leave the remainder (neatly) for the pickup to come through. I dont' get everything this way, but certainly the rare transformer, degausing cable and the yoke.
I used to repair TVs and recover the scrap before taking to the dump. The one thing you missed was that black aluminium heatsink next to the flyback transformer with the small board mounted on it. Very easy to remove and one or two components unscrewed and you have clean ally. Even those two small ones in the middle of the board rip off easy with some pliers. Some sets have extruded which is worth a little more. Be worth more than those low value ICs
The transformer would make a good AU to US voltage transformer box most likely. To a layman like me the output voltage seems fine. The 12 V Tab could go to a 12V connector (old cigaretter lighter) on the side. I'd say its an easy sell for you :)
Dag TEACH.. I’ve never seen a transformer that big in a tv if your not going to use that for some thing else I would bust that sucker open 😳👊🏻 great show sir 👊🏻
Not a great deal Hanna as the timber case on these old things does weigh quite a bit, as does the picture tube and steel chassis! Thanks for watching 😊

Thanks for watching CS. Yes, copper is often replaced with Aluminium on cheaper items unfortunately!
Nice vid mate. You can clearly see why most scrappers just remove the copper on the street and leave the rest. 👍
Thanks SWK! Yep, that's the way to go if you want the coppery goodies! 😁👍
@CYRUS DAWSON Yeah, they really need to recycled properly for our environment's sake!

Yep, scrapping on the street is a good way to go Dave! With the right tools, it's a pretty quick exercise 👍👍

Thanks Stephen! I have moments where I collect ally and other times I don't as it takes up so much storage room!!

Yep exactly! Thanks for watching mate 😊

They'd be lots of nice juicy copper in that sucker!! 😉😁👊
@@TheUltimateRecycler yes sir 🤤🤤🤤
Word
Huh? Is there a magic word?
Yup. 😊
Did clearing out this tv make it a noticeable difference in weight ????

Yeah, no. Not for me. Someone else can deal with that junk.
I agree! I only took this because it was a total clean-up job and I had to take the lot!
