Thank you so much for watching 🥰 Now that I've shared some of my favorite books with you, I'd love to hear about the books YOU love! Comment with your favs-I'm always looking for new recommendations :)
I don't read as much as I wish I did lately but The Mistborn trilogy and the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson hold a special place in my heart 🖤
If you want something with a heavy subject matter/ something sad I highly recommend In Memoriam by Alice Winn. It's absolutely relentless in some places, but also a lot more hopeful than I expected in others. A short story collection I enjoyed earlier this year is Gods of Want by K-Ming Chang.
Project Hail Mary is a beautiful book. A wonderful exploration of what it means to be human despite having a cast that is only half so. If you enjoyed The Martian; film or book, this leaves it in the dust (pun partially intended). Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. The best love story disguised as a fresh and engaging sci-fi novel. Thrilling but comfortable and wildly page turning. Endurance. The single greatest adventure story ever told with the added benefit of being entirely true. I cannot believe this whole experience isn't talked about more often. Alas, Babylon. Written in 1959, it explores the great "what if" of the USA and her allies were engaged in a nuclear war by the USSR. It doesn't shy away from race relations and gender roles of the time while approaching them honestly and thoughtfully. The parallels to the modern day cannot be ignored either. Pleasantly hopeful despite the bleak environment it explores.
I feel like if you were to own a private underground library, set to be in design exactly like the Batcave of some sort, would definitely keep all the latest resourceful information and collector's issues on the DL. Now that I think of it, I kinda wish I had me a cool blueprint layout of actually wanting to build and design an underground library, similar to how a mancave in the den or up in the attic would be choice to look 😁
As someone who has spent A LOT of time in libraries and used bookstores, and even more time reading, I am undoubtedly biased, but I think this is your best video yet!
@@williamgass9242 I love books. So, since her video is about books, I am more likely to like it. If I cared nothing about books, I would be less likely to like her video.
As the resident reader in all of most of my friendships and relationships, it's always a pleasure to have someone else read passages from the books they love. Especially when they're novels I wouldn't reach for myself
I love this! This actually happens with inclement weather. The bookstore employee is so bored and you literally can go in there and talk about literature quietly all day. It’s perfect.
Glad I discovered your channel! Being a book nerd this right up my alley. Also you make a great librarian and book store clerk. You have a very calming voice. 👍😊🔥
This is one of your best videos, always love when people talk about what they are passionate about, and getting read to taps into those childhood core memories 😊 I don't really read much anymore but I was an avid reader in my youth, maybe I should make some more time for it nowadays 😅 Anyways, hope all is well with you, thanks for the 💤💤💤 ✌
I actually work in a bookstore and I love when a customer comes in when its slow and just wants to talk about books with me! Our store is small so they always just follow me around while I ask questions about their taste and I make recs along the way :)

Ah thank you! I love the concept of your channel! I have a (somewhat) baseball themed video, too...it's mostly make-up themed, but I spend some time chatting about my boys Colton Cowser and Gunnar Henderson 🧡
LOVED this one! Very soothing and relaxing. My favorite classic is: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It has to do with our human vanity and our fixation with the things in life that cannot last; that are by nature, temporal, and how becoming attached to them produces suffering.
@@NoelleNorthASMR Same :) also ordered a copy of Jesus' Son as Denis Johnson has been on my tbr for a while but never got around to him. Looking forward to it.
Love the video!!! also I have a big ask, can you do a therapy role play? I feel like a vid of you saying positive affirmations and checking on mental health would be so comforting and tingly. Also remember me when your a huge asmr channel ive been watching since day one! keep making great vids can't wait to see what's next.
Love Cormac McCarthy, and you're totally right, his prose is 10/10. That said, kinda surprised to hear Blood Meridian as your #2 for him. That book is freaking brutal. His writing is still lovely but I just couldn't get as into it as I can with his other works. Was rather glad to finish it so the suffering could end 😅
Very very fair! Brutal is the perfect word. But I think his prose is often at its best when it’s describing brutality…the sheer power of the writing in Blood Meridian blows me away.
You made an excellent choice for the video. I love it. Mistress Noelle North ASMR, you continue to impress me and your fans with your excellent ASMR skills in your videos. I'm rooting for you. All your fans, me included, appreciate your choices for your videos.
I love hearing book recommendations, but I also dread the idea of adding even more books to read on goodreads. The list is already very long. Thankfully I only added 2 books on my to read list, as I've already read some of your recommendations 😅
The asmr and the book recs were fantastic (planning to read Say Nothing over the summer now). Really hope you keep making content and/or do more with this character. Oh, and you should check out "I Have Some Questions For You" by Rebecca Makkai. Very good plotting and prose in a true crime mystery. Or "Everything Is Illuminated" if you just want something particularly weird lol
Saw the Rooney title in the thumbnail, and decided to check out the video lol. Steinbeck is the man for me, check out his stuff. King is great for the horror and character work, Heinlein has some fun sci fi. G K Chesterton is an interesting one, a major influence on Lewis and Tolkien. This video was fun, thank you for working on it.
Great video! Would you ever consider doing a full read of the story “What We Talk About When We Talk About Love?” It’s one of my favorites too and I really enjoyed your reading of the opening. Just a thought!
Hi Noelle 😊 ! Thank You for some excellent reading 📚 tips. Love the Velvet Underground 🚇 especially the banana 🍌 album ! Venus In Furs my favorite track. Take Care ❤
I love Louise Erdrich so much. When I still teaching at the university, I'd teach Love Medicine every year. Toni Morrison is my favorite author, and I've always been partial to Song of Solomon by her. A newer book I enjoyed teaching was Nafissa Thompson-Spires' The Heads of the Colored People.
This was great. I read mostly horror and scifi novels but love a good coming of age story as well. Two books I'd recommend to anyone are Boy's Life by Robert McCammon and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Thanks for the video and happy reading!
