It is very amazing to hear johnny ray signing because he is partially deaf but still singing off beautifully. Real talent isn't really hampered by disability or anything rip johnny. Your may not be with us anymore but your songs will live on forever. Thanks for the memory

Not a dry eye in the house! Memories are so precious, I was a child but loved Johnnie Ray's voice and still do. Thank you for making this possible, he was so special. RIP Johnny Ray xxx

One of the all time greats and an international star. A little before my time when he first had huge records and live shows. Fortunately we’re blessed with his recorded legacy and video like this. Johnnie died too young by modern standards but I do believe we’ll meet again in some form, where as the old gospel song goes, the soul of man never dies.

THANK YOU, Alan! I can't get enough. My husband played something from Johnnie when I was diagnosed w/cancer in 2016. "Whisky and Gin". He said, "You're not crying from the diagnosis. You're crying because of Johnnie Ray withdrawal!" He was right, I stopped crying!
Oh and I beat the heck out of 2 cancer's at the same time and I have been cancer free since!

@@aeichler I went both nights. Mom and I the first and then I went the 2nd night.Todd invited me down to the lounge w/him and Johnnie and you all. Talked forever! When at....3-4am we all parted ways, Johnnie asked me how I was getting home. I said I was visiting my mom and I was walking but it was only 2 blocks away. He insisted on going w/them and dropping me off. He wouldn't take no for an answer. He became quite fatherly and protective.
Alan, when I told my husband years later he asked me, "Did you tell him you sang?"
My flabber was gasted! I was in such awe, it never occurred to me!
      Sure wish I had!

The man can still sing here. But every era has a style. This theatrical performance worked in the 1950s but here in the 1980s it comes across as a bit over the top.

He gave it ,it's all..looked a little dishevelled..as if he had just hopped out of bed in his rather ragged suit and his hair was ruffled...not one of his best performances...
