I think he gained profound respect for being honest about his turmoil. Highly talented people seem to walk the wire between bliss and turmoil. It is something that plays out over and over. I am glad he has found his way and continues to enchant us with his God given voice.
Imagine being 30 years old, 20 million dollars in your pocket and 100 girls outside your hotel ready to make you out and more, It might be heaven for some of you but it can also be a very dangerous situation. When you are at the top with all the ego and your demons playing together it's like a loaded gun pointing your head.
Good point well made. That unfortunately and sadly is how we lost Kurt Cobain, who of course passed away two years before '96 and Dave's confession to the cameras in which he mentions Kurt's name. I was and am the biggest Nirvana fan since 1992. I remember this Depeche Mode drama from MTV at the time, but was'nt yet a fan. Over the last several years and recent times especially, I absolutely am. And I love watching footage and features like this. You can see how relieved and grateful Dave is upon getting back in the game following his near death experiences. Ultra is a brilliant album- I think , one of the best DM songs in general closes that one, which is the track "Insight'.
You don't like their music, that doesn't mean it's mediocre, it's just your opinion. On the other hand, Alan failed without Martin and Dave, the proof is that you, his fans, live in the past and didn't support or understand his Recoil project. You all spend your time writing negative comments on Depeche videos instead of listening to Alan's music
Some great footage some of which I'd never seen before - thanks for sharing
Ultra is one of my fave albums. Thanks for putting this together, insightful stuff.
Thankful Dave is still with us today.
He came out of jail and apologized to his fans and his mother. 😢🖤
❤
Devotional is probably the best ever tour of DM. Ultra is my favorite album of 97 year.
The rest are details.
Glory to you Dave 🤟🏻❤️🩹

Exactly, Barrel of a gun. Luckily He survived all this crazy shit. 😊❤
He's like some sort of "Lethal Weapon"
And thankfully rebuilt his life he did

David GA-JAN
Alan Wilder
Alan Wilder failed without Martin and Dave. Ready, I completed your sentence
their music has been mediocre after Alan Wilder left....
