I just got one having watched a guy do covers with one on RUclips. I can’t get over the sound of it! I have one other high end acoustic (Faith) and it sounds and plays even better than it
Trying to decide between this guitar and a Yamaha A3R. Very similar in make up (dreadnaught cut away, solid rosewood, etc) I'm a lefty so I don'r get to play them before I buy them. Perhaps a side by side comparison?
+Bud Tucker The DCPA4R sounds and feels a lot more mature to me. Yamaha makes great instruments but there is that certain Martin tone you can't get from the A3R.
+MrMurcy1984 For me.... probably the D-15M. I'm a fan of the Mahogany top.... but these 2 guitars are very similar so either one would be a fine choice. -Chad
I really like your guitar playing and demos, Tony, but it would good to see you demo some Canada-made guitars, such as Larrivee or one of the Godin brands (Seagull, Simon & Patrick or Norman). I admit I have only been watching your RUclips videos for a few months, but I have yet to see a review of any of those companies' offerings, which may give consumers the "best bang for their buck" (in some cases). I admit I am the proud owner of a couple Simon & Patrick all-solid-wood guitars, which I think are great, and I have my eye on one of the Larrivee "L" models, which many people have reviewed quite favorably. I do not represent these companies or benefit in any way from mentioning this. Just would like to see one of them here once in a while. I want an all-'hog Martin someday, the 0-17 in particular. I have appreciated your reviews in general.
+Acoustic Letter thank you so much for your reply. I ended up picking up this martin I just noticed that mine came with tiny dots on the fingerboard while the one shown here has the traditional dot inlays on the fingerboard?
Acre Ramos they made it with two different styles. I have the one with dots as well. Im assuming the dots are on the newer ones as the dcpa4 also has the dots.
If I've done my research right, the 1-4 models ( so in this case DCPA1 - DCPA4) are made in USA in Pennsylvania. The 5 model is made in Mexico along with most of the X series
No, just Sapele on this model. You would have to go up to a D-16GT to get Mahogany but no cutaway on the D-16GT. But Sapele is very similar in sound to Mahogany....
Martin should lower their price. They are producing them with Richlite, HPL, stratobond (much cheaper than tonal woods), but keep the pricing high. I'm not against those materials at all, but they should be priced lower. In the mean time they are increasing the price on all solid wood guitars. That's why I stay away from Martin now and I'm looking at other brands like Larrivee (that sound incredible btw).
These are lovely guitars, sound as good as a D28 with more versatility. Also the neck is much easier to reset like a Taylor, perfect gigging guitar.
I have one of these and if you think it sounds good now, wait till you play it, smell it and hear it. Its better than the video.
sonny Theshedman 100% agreed. I got mine in 2014 and it just keeps getting better and better!
Plays, Sounds, and smells awesome :D

Thanks for the great reviews! They actually helped me pull the pin on this exact guitar, I love it! Keep it the good work.
A warm sounding martin. Sounds good, I like it.
Iam saving on this guitar for a while. Plays good and sounds cool :D
Tony!! please compare the martin gcpa4 with the taylor 214ce or the martin dcpa4 with the taylor 210ce.
I want to buy one but can't decide between Martin DCPA4 and Martin DCPA4 Rosewood, more expensive and hard to find in Melbourne.
What's that song at 3:00? Love the shakey grave sounding chords
Looking forward to a review on the GPCPA4 Rosewood soon
Eastman E20D compared with Martin DCPA4 Rosewood, any thought?
please review the ompa4 rosewood next

she's a beaut
This next on my list, agg sounds so beautiful. I have the dcpa5 and its great, but the high strings sound rather tin-y towards the higher frets. :/
When your title says Rosewood does that mean their is another back and sides wood option?
Yes there is
What is richlite? Cheaper ebony?
It's very hard composite material. Not wood
It is all solid wood? Thanks
Acoustley would u prefer this or a d15m I'm stuck between the 2

+MrMurcy1984 - If you like to have more of an all rounder and plan on pluggin in once in a while the DCPA4R will be the better choice.
OMCPA4 Rosewood PLEASE

Hey Toni Could you please give me an advise I'm stuck between this guitar and Gibson J-15 which do you think is better for all around playing?
+Acre Ramos Both are fine choices, really just depends on your playing style. -Chad

Is the Martin Performing Artist Series made in China? How is the action on this guitar. Is it nice and low or do U have to work to get a good chord?

My2ube it's made in PA. No Martins are made in China. And why worry about action when you can simply adjust it?
Sounds better than d-45 bro
lolllll dream on kid
This is D 16. Just named I’d different.
Made in good old USA. the 5 is made in Mexico.
Tony, is this same guitar made with mahogany back and sides, and if it is, is it a lot cheaper?
John Hollinger We have a standard DCPA4 Mahogany in stock now... acousticletter.com/shop/martin-dcpa4-natural/
+Acoustic Letter Do they make a mahogany version of this guitar. I can only seem to find Sapele.
