  • This is a fairly rare examination of the pelvic outlet, which consists of the pubic bones and the ischial bones. This is typically done to search for fractures of the inferior anatomy which are not shown clearly on a regular AP pelvis x-ray due to superimposition.
    This exam is not often ordered, but it's a good thing to have in your tool box just in case you're called upon to perform it. Most people forget the angulations, so go back to your text book if you can't 100% remember them.
