You probably need to build a swale system to hold the water in your farm

Yes, definitely we need that but holding all of that water would not be possible even then due to very high volumes at times 😊

There has to be pond at the water exit atleast 10*10*10 . To check the flow of soil /organic matter along with water. The overflow from the pond can go out if excess rain is there but the slowdown will settle the soil there in the pond.
