Yes this would have been ideal but like everything I do it’s last minute and o couldn’t get one the right size! 😂
Thankfully there is a thick plastic shield around all the cables and it has been fine 👍🏼

Hey good video, very informative. got a brand new WT next gen getting MW canopy installed After the GVM GCM upgrade next week pre rego, then i have a full Enerdrive system going into the canopy, with a 200Ah, and 200w panel (no boat!) and soon as its all done were Sending it - hope to catch up with you guys.. .. our first lap! Did they supply split corro to protect the big power cables under the car? What size is the main power cable from the front battery - 6 B&S (13.5mm2)????
8 b&s cable from the start battery and they don’t supply split wrap as the cables have a thick pvc outer coating covering both the + & -
Just wondering don't u have to mount the negative to a geound source on the vehicle.. sorry just getting ready to install this in my px3 ranger cheers
Negative runs to the starter batter which is grounded to the car 👍🏼

Where were you able to find a fuse tap that’s can plug straight into that ignition blue cable ?
Bought the fuse tap from repco but it comes with no fitting in the other end so just fitted one to suit the ignition wire
Great clip mate. I just bought the kickass control hub with 20a dcdc and monitor system. Does your monitor system have a shunt for the lithium battery? Love the content Goldy and I have subscribed!!!
Thank you! The monitor runs directly from the battery so doesn’t require a shunt making it a lot easier!
Bro how’d you get the cable from the battery into the canopy? Did you have your take off the connector then put the connector back on? Cheers man
Yeah that’s exactly how I did it mate! De pinned the anderon plug, fed it through then re attached it 👍🏻
I have an open tub. Will be getting a canopy soon but want to run a duel battery for fridge/lights etc do you have any suggestions
So many options out there! If your after something before putting the canopy on I’d probably look at a behind the back seat set up, otherwise a 120ah lithium with the 40a dcdc will run that gear no problems 👍🏼
Can i ask, is the ignition cable just for smart alternators? Or do all vehicles wire this up
It is for smart alternators mainly as the charger won’t kick in without it.
I like to hook it up anyway for price of mind that the charger won’t keep drawing from your start battery after you’ve turned the car off 👍🏻
Hi Alex - just in the process of installing a similar setup myself. 2 questions please. What do you do with any spare cable length when running the long cable from the battery to the canopy? Secondly Did you ever think of using the Anderson Flush Mounts to connect the battery cable to the Canopy? Love your Vids.
Hey! There wasn’t too much excess thankfully but just zip ties it neatly under the tray, yes there are plenty of good options with the Anderson mounts and I think I’ll do something like that next time 👍🏻

No they are completely different systems, best contact Cowfish themselves as they will give you the best advice 👍🏼

Are you referring to the Cowfish tv antenna or the Cowfish internet?
The antenna is very simple as it just replaces your existing antenna.
The internet is a little more complex with drilling through the roof and running power to it but still not too difficult

You went with the best in the caravan custom lithium then go backwards
Hate to say it but depends on who pays the bills mate….sorry but as I mentioned in comments last week the channel is becoming an advertorial. None of the gear here is new its been around for years. Disappointing because I loved the earlier stuff and this one i turned off after a minute.
I wouldn't say they are the best
For what they are doing with a canopy fitout kickarse is fine. You don’t need the ducks nuts gear everywhere.

We absolutely love our custom lithium setup in the caravan and am definitely not confident in doing a whole caravan system myself, the canopy on the other hand is a much simpler set up that I’m more than happy doing on my own!
Gives a bit of perspective of both ends of the market and means we get to work with two great companies! 👍🏼

Why do you need a dc dc charger . Wont the alternator charge the second battery..?
It regulates the charge to your second battery to charge it safely and correctly, if you connected it strait to your alternator it would kill the battery fairly quickly 👍🏻

Yes it’s fuses just before the battery

Why not just run a VSR instead off tapping into another line ?
Also are you running a shunt?
VSR’s aren’t any chop with smart alternators.

@@user-jg1zq6bh1c I used to use a VSR as well which worked well on my old Triton but vehicles with smart alternators will detect when the crank battery is full and cut back the charge rate to save fuel. It won’t hurt anything, but it means your house battery won’t get a full charge.
As the others have said mate it wouldn’t have been the best route for use to use a VSR with our car having a smart alternator, the ignition cable tells the dcdc when to turn on and off so it won’t flatten our start battery.
No need for a shunt in the setup as the digital display shows all of the information directly from the battery 👍🏼
