  • A performance of my original cover of Icelandic Chinese singer Laufey's California and Me, released on 8/24/23 from her upcoming album Bewitched. I worked very hard to create my arrangement the moment the studio version was released and recorded and edited this video the next day. I decided to cut half of the first verse out to avoid repetition but the full verse is included in my arrangement.

@laufey I hope you see my cover, I can't wait to see you in October in Vancouver!!

We need more Laufey from you!! This video is so satisfying to watch. The smoothness of your fingers and hand sways, utterly perfect. I adore this song so much, and the care and compassion you bring when you play this is very much respected and praised by all people who watch this video. I soon hope to see more piano from this channel. You deserve the recognition from this video alone. Than you for such a beautifully played rendition of this incredible song

I shall listen to this almost as often as the original song by Laufey, which by the way is a LOT!

Thank you so much! If I had to guess, you’re talking about the left hand when you say bass, but correct me if I’m wrong. I wrote this explanation to another viewer explaining it:
“For the verses I use a 5, 2, 1, 3, 2, 1, 2 fingering on the left hand on the way up the arpeggio and then reverse on the way down.
For the chorus, the jumps in the left hand are the trickiest part and a good way to get good at them is doing the jump over and over again. This will increase speed with time and muscle memory will help you not to bang to make the leap in time.
Over all, play very relaxed and remember that a loose, sweeping arm that leads the hand will work wonders”
Hope that helps! Let me know any other questions you have.
