Kevin... thank you for the review of the Olight Perun 2, very well done video and informative. Keep the video's coming, we love to watch them! Take care!
Thanks for the review, just got one of these, also have two small key ring Olights, the little ones are very sturdy, both are on key chains and thus available at most times.
That is a very cool light. I Like the offset lamp and the fact that it comes with a head band. that dimmer feature can also come in handy. Looking forward to the Giveaway Kevin... stay warm my friend
🎄🎄just ordered one for Christmas gift for myself😀 great reviews Kevin on both olights you've done these past couple weeks. Christmas is fast approaching ~ Merry Christmas to you and your family.
@@xjeepmanx hey there, it's my favorite light for my evening ventures throughout my forested backyard. I have many feeders for birds and wildlife in the back trails. The perun 2 headlamp feature has guided me and enabled me to see flying squirrels, owls, dear, rabbits and black bears , throughout the four seasons. Still works as efficiently as when I received it. Bought my husband one as well for his ice fishing trips. Order one, you'll be pleased! Rated with an A++ score!
Great review, but I wish they would offer these in a one-setting medium high mode and be done with it. You hear a bump in the night, you go outside and you gotta fumble through like 8 settings, in the meantime, bad-guy has a bead on ya.... Make an L.E. version! one setting, call it "pretty high but still retains the battery life".
Nice... I order my yesterday , but I think I do not like it if charging have to be with the light...??...do we have the charger just for extra battery..???
So far all my Olights charge very well and fairly quickly - although I haven't drained this one yet. The batteries do last a long time and previous to testing, I might not have considered these for a long camping trip but now I certainly would.
Summer is here so just wondering if the Perun 2 is your go 2 headlight. I’m thinking about getting one but it is a big light. Maybe primary use 90* flashlight, secondary as a big headlamp. So are you still using it ?
I have done a bunch of reviews and I never get asked which is my go to. My go to head lamps are both made by Black Diamond. I have a big one that I use for blowing snow at night and that I bring on canoe trips. And, I have a very small one that I bring on backpacking trips. I like the Olight flashlights but I do prefer a purpose built headlamp rather than one that does double duty. For some, having the option may be preferred.
another honest review. you didnt mention the price so I had to look; normally 120 but black friday special at 83 so not too bad for how much light you get. I like that its both a flashlight and headlight instead of having 2 or 3 lights.
Thanks Stephen, Olight has frequent flash sales so I would certainly wait for one of those. And, they often bundle products together usually offering smaller flashlights for free with a purchase of a certain amount.
Solid red when charging and solid green when fully charged. They could have changed things up since I made the video. I'd leave it charging for a couple of hours and see if it takes a full charge. Then return it if it doesn't work.
Thanks Kevin for another succinct review. Do any of these lights feature a red light? A must-have as far as I'm concerned for night use when insects are around.
@@KevinOutdoors Let me know if yours match mine. I haven't tried again in the snow. I figure with the melting snow on the lens that it would produce the same effect
Today i received the perun 2, seal of approval by me! Amazing flashlight even better than my ledlenser for the same price range. I definitely know which one I'll have on my belt as an edc! I recommend it 100%
That is a great question. It doesn't feel like glass and it doesn't feel like plastic. I can't find info on the website but the user manual says "TIR Optic Lens". A little research leads me to believe that it is made of silicone.
@@KevinOutdoors Thanks for fast answer. I have some olights 🔦 with similar lenses and they scratched 😔Compared to fenix or armytek witch glass lenses. . Yes this is a great 🔦 part plastic lens. Thanks
Great review thanks so much, I’m sorry I must of gooned out but what size is thee battery. And I’m assuming you can buy this battery on Amazon Canada. I’m a weirdo that way always having a back up hanaha thanks again
They are both good lights. I think it would come down to if you are interested in the headlamp option or not. My daughter uses my Freyr almost every night when she walks her dog, she says it is the 'best' because it gives a lot of light, without blinding, and feels most like a 'flashlight'. The Perun 2 is of course a right angle light and she doesn't like it as much, but it works great as a headlamp.
Thanks so much for looking out for your viewers Sir. I've just gone for the freyr after consulting my wife. She has the olight baton (sr3 I think its called?), but wanted something more powerful for the outdoors. We watched your freyr review and think we need the beam distance it provides. That fits in with it being more of a flashlight as you advise. The perun does have high lumens and good runtime so on paper I thought it might just cut it (as well as double as a headlamp) but the freyr kills it in terms of distance. The freyr has that great beam, but also seems *just* small enough for EDC. Bearing in mind we are in between Canada and Scotland so we will have an large anorak pocket most of the year. We own a good led-lenser and a 3d LED maglite which compare to the freyr for output, but they're way too big even to fit in a parka.
This is the worst value headlamp I've ever purchased. It does have a bright light but it is so spread it lights nothing very distinctively near or far. The head band is uncomfortable with the size adjustment buck on top of your head so if you're going under branch or brush the buckle will get caught and the lamp pulled off your head. Good luck trying to figure out in the dark which way the headband goes on if you are in darkness. It's a small overpriced hand torch

Great review. I got mine yesterday. Used it last night for old dog that can’t see well. Love it. Not heavy at all!
Great to hear!
Thanks for sharing... you already have so much snow... down here in Toronto all the white cover washed away with rain...
Sorry to hear that :) Winter has just arrived but it is here to stay!

Nice review, getting one for sure. Appreciate your review style...subbed.
Found you by accident, great review. I’m buying this flashlight because of you ! 👍
Thanks !!
Cool, I hope you enjoy it. My goal isn't to get people to buy the light but rather to do a good review so that you can make an informed decision.
Great review. I really like your work in the Zac Brown Band too.
Thanks!
Just bought this olight. All around great versatile product. I'm very satisfied with it.

Awesome, thank you!
cool i just got one. SUPERRRR
Great, I do like my Olights and this one in particular.
Hello, I have a question when you shake the olight perun 2 lamp you can hear a noise in the lens is that the same with you or is it broken
Andrei, no I don't, yours is probably damaged.
Nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice... I order my yesterday , but I think I do not like it if charging have to be with the light...??...do we have the charger just for extra battery..???
It charges with the battery in the flashlight. It is relatively quick and the charge lasts a fairly long time.
Great review Kevin, very informative. Now for the hard question, as a technophobe, how well does it charge? Are rechargable batteries a good thing?
So far all my Olights charge very well and fairly quickly - although I haven't drained this one yet. The batteries do last a long time and previous to testing, I might not have considered these for a long camping trip but now I certainly would.

I'm currently finding them for $89.99.
Have you reviewed the Perun mini? Comparison video maybe? Or maybe a comparison video with S1R2 or S2R2?
I have done a review of the Perun mini, I much prefer the Perun 2. The head band is far superior if you are looking for a headlight.
I bought the orange one.👍🏼
Nice, Hope you enjoy it! 👍
just got one. charging and its flashing green. not drawing power. instructions says charging red and charged green. what does yours do when charging?
Solid red when charging and solid green when fully charged. They could have changed things up since I made the video. I'd leave it charging for a couple of hours and see if it takes a full charge. Then return it if it doesn't work.
Thanks Kevin for another succinct review. Do any of these lights feature a red light? A must-have as far as I'm concerned for night use when insects are around.
Good question, no, none of the Olights that I have tested have red light.
Perun mini by olight has a red light
@@Mantis858585 thanks
Great, now I have to buy this Light even though I don’t need it 😂
Thanks for the review!
LOL, before I started doing flashlight reviews I didn't realize that there were so many flashlight collectors out there.
Would have been perfect, but that proximity sensor caused some major issues while in the rain as a headlamp. Kept shutting the brightness down.
Interesting, I will have to test that out in the spring. Thanks for the info.

Hi - would it work if I go into high mountain?
I don't see why not.

freyr vs perun -any thoughts?

How's it holding up in cold weather?🤔🥶
My daughter has been using these lights to walk her dog at night. Temps lately have been very cold -20C. We haven't had any issues yet.
Clip the pocket clip to the headband so it doesn't get lost
That's a great idea!
MAN!! i knew The Truman show was real!!

I have olight. Not the headlamp. Me the light is not in the middle of your forehead. I guess you can move it to the side.
The light isn't so far off centre that you can even notice a difference.
