I have a copy of The End of the World Is A Cul de Sac that I bought from Waterstones, but I 've never read it. I am also interested in trying The Warden this year. The booktube Trollope craze has passed me by. I love your haul!
I was somehow expecting another family video with currently reading announcements or book recommendations by your family members at this time of the year. 😉
I haven't read Roman Stories by Lahiri, but I have read The Nameshake and her collection of short stories The Interpreter of Maladies and I loved book books.
My Monticello is a great collection. The first story is quite good and I know that Levar Burton read it (I think it was part of his podcast, but it is included on the audiobook). There was one story in the collection that didn't work for me, but the title story is very powerful. I hope you enjoy The Beadworkers when you get it. I'm not overly surprised it wasn't at B&N. I found it at Powell's here, but it's a local author--and I think I may have even pulled it off a display for local authors.
Oh good, I'm excited about my thrifty My Monticello. And one of the best things about BookTube is finding out about terrific regional and international books that just aren't going to pop up in my area bookstore or library. So thanks again for the recommendation!
I've heard so many good things about The Road to Dalton. My Monticello is really well done--I think you will like it! I loved Mrs. Kimball, so I'll be interested to hear if Tales of Burning Love is similar (or as good). Also curious about Absolution and Loot.
Great haul! Happy Holidays! Sadly, I have had Covid since Christmas Day. I did receive Alice McDermott’s Absolution as a gift, and that’s on the top of my list. Louise Kennedy’s collection sounds great too. I’m with you on Maureen Corrigan. I love her recommendations. Have you read her book, Leave Me Alone, I’m Reading? Good stuff! Here’s to a healthy new year! Thanks for your great videos!😊
Oh no, that stinks! Worse than a stocking full of coal. I hope you are feeling better soon. I did not know that Maureen Corrigan wrote a book- now I will look for it!
I’m much better today. Turning a corner, I think. Thanks. Maureen Corrigan has a couple of books. I know I’ve also read her book on reading The Great Gatsby. She’s wonderful….
Yea! Hope you are intrigued by memoir, who knew Providence, RI had a prominent mafia? I have Roman Stories checked out and the Louise Kennedy collected stories on hold. I’ve been circling Loot for awhile too. I usual completely gel with Maureen Corigan, but I think she put The Wager on her ten best list and it was a huge disappointment for me and leaves me a bit suspicious of her now since she chose that, lol.
The Wager just sounded boring to me. I couldn't rustle up any interest in it. I think Maureen C. is reliable with her fiction reviews; not sure about her nonfiction taste! Your library sounds more robust than mine.
I am so glad that I came across your channel, got me back into reading.
Thank you and welcome!
A great haul! I would recommend adding The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride.
That's a terrific recommendation...I already read and loved it! It will be on my top ten of 2023.

Thank you! There's nothing like a new pile of books!

Awww! It was just our little trio plus visiting cat for Christmas so I took a video break. Happy almost New Year!
Nice haul!
Thank you!

I have high hopes that Roman Stories will be as good as her previous story collections. Thanks for watching!

Hopefully I will be having good reviews of them all in 2024. I definitely have a promising stockpile!
Interested to see if you like that Bluebook!
It sounds pretty cool. Heather's review sort of reminded me of Station Eleven.
