Q: How rare are impacted canines?
A: Impacted canines occur in about 2% of the population, with the majority being in the upper jaw. Fun fact! They are 3 times more likely to occur in females (okay maybe not so fun fact if ur a gal)
Q: Can't you just leave the tooth in there?
A: While you technically can, If left untreated, an impacted tooth can lead to damage to the surrounding teeth, misalignment, gum disease, and even cause the development of cysts in your mouth that can result in bone damage. In my case I was told that I COULD leave it in there since it was inside my bone. But the baby canine would've probably fell out between the ages of 20-40. And by that time the impacted canine would've already disolved into the bone and I would have no choice but to get implants.
Q: Seriously? None of the dentists noticed the tooth in an xray?
A: Yep. If I wasn't curious enough to check the screen myself I probably would've never known.

I showed this video to my mother, who works at a dentist. She was indignant: after each visit it is mandatory to clean the room from top to bottom, because you have to avoid the patient coming into contact with infected things and catching diseases. If you really found the remains of the previous patient when you entered your dentist, the first thing to do should have been to leave, never return and find a new doctor

4:28 I got this surgery.. It dozent hurt! Really! You get to eat nothing but ice cream and soup after! The worse thing is when they tighten it, it hurts, and before it heals..you can't drink soda/carbonated drinks, really. Anybody scared of it, don't worry! It's fine.
I already got it years ago and it was the most painful experience of my whole life The tightening appointments were once every 2 weeks and I still get nightmares of it sometimes T-T

@kittyqueencutie5149 1st. yes it hurts but You get used to it. 2nd. first appointment time it was 7, second appointment it was 3.
And 3rd I had to wear mine for 4 years but it can vary for different reasons and people.

@Bellalovesgacha I’d say they probably are depending on the person. I definitely needed them 😭 I had one set for two years then another for 3. It’s only really bad for the first few weeks then you just get used to it. 👍

I've got an Impacted canine too, had to have the surgery. I was terrified to go but the orthodontist were really nice and I got to listen to any music I like. But I still haven't gotten the braces yet. So I've just got this tooth at the top of my mouth with a chain on it since November, they even gave me a special toothbrush for it.
