I am still pretty grossed out but I realize this is because manure has been normalized in society whereas urine has not.
Honestly this is super cool! Projects like these make me all the more hopeful about our future on Earth and our progress towards a more green/cleaner way of living
Bought a book many years ago called Liquid Gold. People having diluting urging with water to fertilize crops for quite a long time
I've been peeing into my compost heap for many years.
This is a wonderful use of our waste, we have gotten away from our ecological niche so far that we can't image how we are a vital part of the systems. Humans are nature's most advanced seed spreading species it would make sense for our urine is an ideal fertilizer.
I use about a cup of my own urine per gallon of water to grow veggies and houseplants. I also use low dose chemical fertilizer, liquid seaweed, ect so I use urine more as a supplement. But great results and the soil always smells sweet and healthy.🌷
I hope that many people take part of this project!
Have been doing it for quite a while. I produce 2 liters of urine daily, and I always store it in a barrel among other watery organic waste.
80C is 176F. 80C for 80 seconds has a way better recall. I down-voted your video because you didn't include metric in this. Get with the times! 1:53
Yes I stopped using toilet for urine when home, saves water and helps grow plants and make compost. Saves money on fertilizer as well😂
🤔 might try this on my ornamentals...I keep making it for free.
Dilute with water. 1 part urine, 5 parts water.
Hope they filter the drugs out. :)
Edit: Sure sounds like they don't.
Exactly , also I doubt the urine diverter is shall we say... a pure source uncontaminated by #2
What makes you worried about second hand drugs?
I urinate in one gallon milk jugs,,, and then,,, pour it on my garden during the winter and in my compost pile,,, been doing it for years !!!
NO I'm not on ANY MED'S 😅
I use my early morning urine to inoculate my biochar and then I put it all on the garden -- my way of giving my future self a gift ... super nutrient soil means better plants and less pests.
As an over 60 female I pee in a garbage can beside my bed and I take it out when I get up for the day. I pour it on the compost pile if I don't need it for inoculating biochar which is best done with fresh morning urine. I'm not on 'medication' etc and have never taken a flu shot ... wonder what that does to a bodies chemistry ???
Thank you for the extremely informative and important video!!!
that is so cool
What about all the medications people take .birth control. Depression meds.etc
I've been peeing in a container and dumped it in the sink for years to save flushing water and to avoid the splash around the toilet. I need to re-start my lawn that died from the drought. I can use this as lawn fertilizer.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
Been using pee for years....works a treat
wow, love this
Why is male urine the only kind that works for fertilizer? Are you saying female urine doesn't stink?
Set up systems in apartment buildings to collect this. Use the incentive of a reduced water bill to sell it.
Do you happen to know how to estimate the nitrogen & phosphate rate in one litre of urine?
...or you can just buy a bag of manure for a $1.25.
You can. Or compost. For extra fun, compost your neighbors' grass clippings as well.
Or you can just use both
How disgusting that you show the urine going out of a person or into a toilet. That was not needed, this could have been a good report.
It's needed. We need to see proof. So that would be fine for that.
