  • I think the story of Strahd Von Zarovich, before he became the Devil Strahd is a bittersweet tale of forbidden love, betrayal, death, and revenge. I created this poem a few years back, but am now using some AI tools to help improve it. I've used Suno to compose the ballad. Prompt: Sorrowful, acoustic, gothic ballad, played on a lute, forbidden love, female voice, soft flute in the background. Image generated by Nightcafe. Prompt: High Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, Barovia, Create an eerie portrait of Strahd Von Zarovich, the ancient vampire lord of Barovia. Depict him standing in the moonlight, his pale skin contrasting with the dark shadows. His crimson eyes should exude both menace and melancholy. The high collar of his tattered cloak should frame his gaunt face, revealing sharp fangs. Long flowing dark hair. His face should show wisdom and be timeless. Around him, mist and swirling fog should hint at the cursed land he rules.
    Poem:
He was a prince and a conqueror
    A warrior of great renown
He led his army to victory
And claimed the valley as his own
He built a castle on the mountain
A fortress of stone and wood
He named it Ravenloft in honor
Of his noble von Zarovich blood
He loved his brother's bride Tatyana
    A beauty fair and pure
He killed his brother out of envy
And tried to make her his for sure
    But she rejected his advances
    And fled from his embrace
She threw herself from the castle
    And died before his face
He cursed the gods and his own folly
He wept for his lost love
He felt a change within his body
Cursed for love that was not his
    Prisoner in darkness bound
The valley was engulfed in shadow
    A prison for his soul
He ruled as lord of Barovia
    But never could be whole
The valley was engulfed in shadow
    A prison for his soul
    A prison from his love
    Prisoner in darkness bound.
The valley was engulfed in shadow
    A prison for his soul
    A prison from his love
    Prisoner in darkness bound.

yet i do not agree. 1st: he didn't build a castle but conquered it. 2nd: he didn't kill his bro out of envy. as I do recall from the fiction book "I am Strahd" it was the outer force that after all curesed him to be a vampire. 3d: Tanya did felt something for count but Sergei was the first to whom she answered (Onegin and Tatyiana by Pushkin ^_^). After all it's a nice bardish song even by AI. But I'm only about I hope to DM Expedition to Castle Ravenloft ^_^ not the 5e remaster. I will (maybe if happens so) give that for players for some misleading of counts history. [terrebly sorry for my english]

The dark power don't make the crime. Their prisonners choose, volontary, to damn themselves by doing a great evil. They only curse them and make them their plaything. The worst is that generally, the dark lords really thing they are innoncents and are punished for nothing. But they are not. The dark powers love evilness, betrayal and denial . Enough to punish the dark lords until the end of times, again and again, like sysiphus, watching doing the same thing again and again, without any real chance to have the peace, love, familly...they desperatly want.
