@BROSREACT0151 You really gotta check out the lyrics to this song a bit more ok? IT IS an awesome song...one I actually spent OVER 40 YEARS singing the wrong lyrics to. Myself and all the other kids back then whi grew up watching his show just got so caught up in the catchy chorus. PLUS my parents didn't WANT ME singing the true lyrics so they taught me other ones. I ONLY realized this like freaking 3 years ago! I'd heard it out of the blue at a friends house. I was like wait...WHAT? Those AREN'T the lyrics...play that over again! He was like what are you stupid of course they are. I'm like no dude they're not trust me I've been singing it since I'M like 9! My Mons like a huge fan. He's like you're a nut...just trust me just listen to it! I'm like HOLY CRAP! Yup...l lost my childhood that day. This song is actually about a murder. I was like ohhh maaaannn! So seriously listen to it again or get the official lyrics and you'll be like WOW he slid that in there soooo smoothly! NOBODY ELSE BUT Tom Jones couid have a hit song go international like this that's blatantly about a murder.
Does my heart good to see young people investigating "old" music. Kudos young gents!! There were so many great performers during the late '60s through to mid-80s. Now you know why old folks don't dig todays musical offerings. We got spoiled big time, by real talent!! ❤ Have fun exploring!!
My college roommate and I decided to go see him because both our moms loved him. We saw him in a medium size venue and it turned it a circle. I mean we were listening to AC/DC, disco, Stevie Ray V., etc. so we went anyway. As you guys would say "OH MY DAYS!" He was UNBELIEVABLE! We loved it SO much, we bought tix and went the next night again even thought we couldn't sit together. The second night I saw by a little old lady who convinced me to go up and get my camera shots, I'm so glad she talked me in to it. I remember her saying that she'd seen him over 30 times. He was the ultimate performer, honestly. It was around 15 yrs later than this video and his voice didn't miss a beat. Whoo Hoo!!
So great to see the younger generation respecting old school music!! Very refreshing! Thank you guys for helping to restore my faith in today's younger people!!
Great song, great reaction. Love that you got caught up in the performance but Delilah wasn’t lucky. He caught her cheating, she laughed in his face, he stabbed her, she died, police broke down the door to get him. Tragic story but beautifully sung.
Another great reaction from Sam and Zack! There is another group who has a powerful voice like Tom Jones who are, the Righteous Brothers. The older brother has the most powerful voice. There are three top number one hits were: 1. Unchained Melody. 2. You've Lost That Loving Feeling. 3. Soul and inspiration. All three of these songs were very popular number one hits in the 1960s.
Just for those who don't know, the Righteous Brothers were not actually brothers. The high voice is Bobby Hatfield (died 2003, RIP) and the deep voice is Bill Medley. In addition to the songs you mentioned, Bill Medley had another huge hit in 1987 in a duet with Jennifer Warnes, the song 'I've Had The Time of My Life', from the movie Dirty Dancing, which won Academy, Golden Globe and Grammy awards. Others have commented about Tom Jones being friends with Elvis. Bill Medley was a personal friend of Elvis' too. Here's a vid where Bill tells a couple of cute Elvis stories. ruclips.net/video/-QDjdSyfJFs/видео.html
He was born in Treforest, a mile outside Pontypridd... 57 Kingsland Terrace, Treforest Jones was born Thomas John Woodward at 57 Kingsland Terrace, Treforest, Pontypridd, in Glamorgan, South Wales. His parents were Thomas Woodward (31 March 1910 - 5 October 1981), a coal miner, and Freda Jones (30 December 1914 - 7 February 2003).
Yes guys, Tom Jones is a phenomenal singer whith a phenomenal voice. Those were the times when you had to have a good voice and to know singing to get an appearance on the radio and TV and be popular. Today in mainstream music, unfortunately, it is enough to miss your voice through computer and then call yourself a popular singer, that any idiot can do, whose natural voice otherwise sounds like a skueak of a train's brake as it scrapes on the rails, or lets out some incomprehensible voices like a forest bear. That's sad. I'm glad that young people like you, though know how to appreciate real value. Cheers!
I remember as a kid singing along to this song, not realizing what the words were. To be honest, I was probably singing totally different lyrics at that young age. i just remember belting it out along with Tom. :-P It wasn't until years later when I heard the song as an adult & finally understood the lyrics. What in the hell - such a crazy ass song, but Tom sings it beautifully & with so much passion that he makes murder sound so damn good. By the way the song & that bitch's name is pronounced (Dee-Lie-Lah). How dare she laugh in Sir Tom's face?!?! What a low class, two timing, cheatin' tramp! LOL!
@Nancy Berry Haha! Don't feel bad! I used to always watcg his show with my mother and my parents went to his suie out here. In in my MID 50s okay? Only like 3 YRS ago what the true lyrics were~I was like REALLY? Holy Crap! I JUST told her about watching this video and that they didn't catch or mention the part about his lyric yet and we were laughing about how long it took ME to figure it out! I sang this wrong FOR OVER 40 YEARS OK? So don't worry honey we ALL sang it wrong cuz the chorus was just so damn catchy! 😉❤😎🤘
My Dad went to School with Tom in Pontypridd. He was 2 years older but he was always singing according to my Dad. There was another unusual version of this done by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Check that version out.
Delilah's dead he stabbed her with his knife after she laughed at him. And she laughed no more. Girls took off their knickers and threw them at him as he sang.
"Legend" is what you are if you live long enough but Tom Jones doesn't have to be a legend because he is supremely talented. Have you listened to his music as he's grown older - he's doing gospel and it's beautiful.
Like Tom Jones a lot .us to watch his verity show all the time still sounds great. but Elvis is my man. Also Tom Jones and Elvis were very good friends. There are a lot of pictures of them together. They use to go to each others shows in los vagas

Single greatest male pop singer of all time; the explosive range, the big vibrato, the fusion of R&B & standard ballad singing... still great in his 70's... never achieved the iconic historical stature as friend, Elvis Presley, but certainly rivaled all male singers in that time, including Elvis! This hit was great but check out the black & white live clip from '67 performing 'I'll Never Fall In Love', another signature TJ song.. your life will stand still... The only greater singers are those in opera... Are u listening Adam Lambert???
@Seamus Lannon Presley is the uber-greatest, most beautiful, most innovative, hands down... Tom was an influence & a friend, that's the truth... been to Graceland 5 x's... calm down, my triggered friend

Actually, Never Gonna Fall/Delilah/Green Grass make up a trilogy. I.e. She breaks his heart/He goes mad and kills her/He has to pay.
You guys need to hear both Tom Jones version and Prince's version of "Kiss".

At age 79 Sir Tom Jones still has his voice.
Tom is still at it. He is a judge on The Voice-Britian and the audience is always asking him to sing...unstoppable talent.

tom sings as well now as did then! and at this time I write it he is 80 years old!
one of the greatest voices ever
He had a TV show in the US when I was a kid that I used to watch with my mother, who was a huge fan. He has an amazing voice...
I also watched his weekly TV series! Loved him then and 50 years later I still LOVE Sir Tom.
You must listen to him singing "I Who Have Nothing"--the power of his voice is amazing in that song.

REMINDS me of Elvis facial expressions, intensity, and some of the extreme notes, like Elvis singing Unchained Melody. BTW, they were close friends

I don’t think you guys realize that he kills Delilah in this song.
...and he escaped arrest
Clueless
Sometimes the voice is soooo great that lyrics are secondary.
He sings a song called "green green grass of home" - Warning - it will break your heart
Oh and Tom's version of 'I Believe" absolutely breathtaking
I love you guys even though I cannot understand some of the things you say, that's ok, I still listen.

Love ❤️ it 👍👍👍👍
Excellent
Around that time Tom Jones was the highest paid singer in the world. He was replaced by Neil Diamond.
Steve McCormack bit different. Tom was always a pure singer, Neil Diamond was a singer/songwriter, and the real serious money is in the writing.
Do some reaction to him in the voice u.k at his age now. He is still phonemol he is 79 now
