- While conducting Straight Line Aerodynamic Testing with Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds at Space Florida's Launch and Landing Facility, Kennedy Space Center, FL, a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 achieved the following results in the .5 Mile test.

It appeared to hit 60 in roughly 5 sec.... traction limited?
no he caught traction after 21mph it took actually 4 and a half seonds to reach 62mph im sure the tires were not warm enough and ground probably a bit to cold not enough grip in a favored condition, the zr1 can do 62mph in 2.85 seconds in sport mode
Of course its traction limited. Its a front engine rwd car with 755 hp on an unprepped runway. Even im traction limited through 1st with 300 less hp
Hey Changefromabill, The Garmins were acting up all day so trying to apply seconds to the speed you see from the Garmin won't make any sense. All they did was give a kind of perspective. The actual time as read by the IMRA in the traps is the only thing you can compare for this run and that is what is posted on the vid after the run.. Jr_ below is quite right, the temp for the 1/2 mile was i think in the low 70's we did not do tire warm ups. And the surface is just bare concrete. I was running new Mich Super Sports because they are one of the only tires that are rated above 200 and i was fully expecting to run over 200 in the longer distances. I say that because cold SS tires are not going to hold the 755hp of the ZR1. I did run the car in "Track" mode with TC on.. My TC is set up to allow some spin on the dig. Of course the computer then takes over.. My 161 mph was one of the best mile times on that day,. All in all the whole Johnny Bohner experience at Cape Canaveral is an incredible experience. I'd go back in second. Happy ZR1 owner..

My 74 260z can get to 160 mph faster then that an in shorter distance. He got off to a bad start and a slow shift .and I like Corvettes .
Lol yeah right no 260z is coming close too that speed your top speed is around 126mph with a 139 HP stock engine

tony, you are right , but it is fun as hell.. The car was in Track mode, TC on and in D. They give me the tack and i gave her hell. 161 was one of the best times on that day. So i knew the ole Z was gonna deliver up top.
Exactly! Im spinning my wheels now, going nowhere and gotta disburse of all my leeching, burdensome "bags" which are costing me freedom.

@brucemccartney5385 the issue with the ZR1 is that their tires wear out fast so the window of peak traction is extremely limited until you get new tires. Wanna chase a lap record somewhere? Have 10+ hours of seat time and multiple sets of tires on warmers ready for swaps
