John Wall, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, De'Aaron Fox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Maxey. These are just some of the elite NBA guards that have gone through the University of Kentucky and played for John Calipari. And for the most part, all of them were underrated heading into their respective drafts. And now, as the 2023 NBA Draft approaches, we have yet another Kentucky guard ready to make an NBA impact, but he isn't getting the hype I think he deserves. His name? Cason Wallace.

Finally someone seeing what I'm seeing about Cason! I wholeheartedly agree with your entire assessment. I'm a magic fan and would love for them to snap him up to either play the 2 or 1, depending on what role ends up suiting him best. He's a perfect fit for this team even just at his floor. Great video man! Subbed
Appreciate it! Magic are an awesome fit for him I think
he is top 4 in the draft in my opinion
@@vanhoot2234 I finished with him at 5
Spurs type PG like Derrick White
I think that’s his floor
@@BobbyDouglasBasketball Spurs material in any case.
love your breakdown, keep it up man
Thanks so much!
You forgot to put TyTy Washington on the thumbnail
I gotta see more of him, but he had a great season in the G League!
How do you feel about his fit in OKC with SGA, Giddey, and JDub already handling most of the ball handling and playmaking duties? It was a bit of an odd choice fit-wise, with Dort playing the PoA stopper role, but maybe they plan to trade Dort in the near future if Cason develops into a better overall player than Dort quickly. Or do you think he might already be better than Dort? If Cason's pre-injury shooting was real, I think it will be a great fit. He is a little smaller for a combo guard, but Giddey, SGA, and Jdub all have good size and/or length for their positions.
Yeah given OKC's current roster construction I don't think it's optimal for Cason to really break out immediately. I think Dallas, Toronto, Atlanta (some of the other spots he would've potentially gone to) might've been better for him, but I think they're setting themselves up for a Dort trade down the line assuming Cason is as good as I think he's going to be. Having someone who can just focus on shutting down the other team's best player really gives SGA, Giddey, JDub a lot more breathing room in-game. Love the pick, not sure about the immediate fit. Thunder don't really *need* a specific type of player, so taking BPA there I understand.
@@BobbyDouglasBasketball I knew Cason was a good player, but I hope you are right about him reaching a star level. SGA and JDub are actually pretty good defenders themselves. Giddey is the weak link on that end, but Chet can probably help cover for him. I guess it is also possible that the Thunder end up choosing Cason over Giddey at some point, but I think Giddey has All-Star potential too.
I think his role early on will be as a defensive cornerstone because of how well he was able to guard 1-3 in college and his innate blocking ability. Maybe in the mold of a marcus smart, but with more upside shooting the three I hope.
I can see him getting picked by the raptors around 13th
I think if he was still there that was his floor. Apparently they were looking to trade up to 11 so OKC had to jump them
great vid im big on wallace as well he isn't gambling on defence either
Appreciate it! And yeah he’s just so solid
I know they're just highlights but the dude looks pretty smooth with good technique..
I need to watch longer videos of this guy ....you've got me curious
He just doesn't have any glaring weaknesses as a player it's impressive
