  • Buried treasure found in Staffordshire probably belonged to a King, according to a British Museum curator.

    a) You managed to be negative about a positive story
    b) If you were born in the UK ,or settled here, they're "your" Royal Family too, like it or not.
    c) I just thought that it was ironic that your youtube name was Anglo-Saxon-small point,I know.
    d) the" loot" could well have come from outside forces fighting within Mercia,or fellow Mercians involved in civil strife- it's all from weapons, not domestic treasure.

I understand your opinion. The fact remains; they are our Royal Family- vote republican ? Gordon Brown is our Prime Minister- no one voted for him either.

More importantly , the positive aspect of this story ,is the workmanship of "Dark Age" Anglo-Saxon metalworkers-we don't know for sure that these items belonged to a King.
