Idea for a nice comparison. 2 Laps around Barcelona: Ariel Atom V8 vs BAC Mono vs Caparo T1 vs 2023 F3 vs 2008 A1 GP vs 2017 Formula Renault 3.5 vs Lotus T125 vs 2017 F2 vs 2014 GP2/11
I think Formula e might going more on traditional racing circuits and street (Wide) circuits like 50/50 on the calendar. Cause the car might gonna go faster after introduce new cars like Gen 3 evo and Gen 4
That seems to be the direction. Already for next season they will have Portland, Shanghai (shortened version), Mexico and currently series is chosing between Misano or Imola for their Italian round. Gen 4 will be necessary to start moving away from the narrow circuits because they will have 800hp, a proper aero package and AWD.
All power no grip. I think 2025 when they bring softer tyres, AWD and some better aero the lapime will be far better than F3, even at more typical circuits. Probably missing a good 3 to 5 seconds a lap with the current car.
Allthough f3 could keep up with the fe gen 3 now in 2025 They announced the gen 3 evo which makes around 500-600 hp. Accel is in 1.8 secs and they improved the aero a bit so it could actually be faster than f2 and around same performance with f1.
F1 performance is still a long way to go. F2 level will come in the next few years. But as they need more energy, they will need some serious pitstops for charging. And the challenge is to give that many cars 600kW of charging power at the same time. At least one car per team needs to be able to charge whenever. So that's 11 x 600kW.
@@THEWINDTUNNELcan you re run the test? The formula 3 car had a dogshit lap wheras the Formula E car was decently clean. Just doesnt seem a very good test
Proof that you don't always need a gas powered engine to go fast. That's one of the main reasons I love electric racing cars. I still love your conventional gas-powered racing cars, but I love electric cars just the same.
I'm all support for electric race cars, but this is just plain slow. It's embarassing and doesn't show case the full potential of full electric drivetrain.
@@ihsanjayadi88I mean, F1 fans are complaining at every possible opportunity about how boring F1 is this season, letting people go bollocks on the cars wouldn't necessarily make a better series
@@ihsanjayadi88It's not too bad for a power circuit. Plus a lot of the performance that's missing here isn't from the electric motor and more so from the tyres and lack of aero. Last year (2023) F3 was around 5 secs faster than FE in Monaco so this is perfectly reasonable. FE was faster in the tunnel section and main straight. However, the upcoming FE Gen 3 EVO will destroy F3.

I know it's the oficial number but I highly doubt that, specially when you see the telemetry of the current cars. I'm sure they thought: 200 mph is a pretty good number huh?
Yeah, that's why they chose Monza, which is a track that suits the Formula E car. The point is to showcase how it competes against a car it couldn't beat before in its strengths, there's no point in showing them around a high speed track because everyone knows Formula E cars don't generate a lot of downforce
FE vs IndyNXT or Indycar You know, I cant believe the FE car is faster than a F3 car, but after watching this I can see FE cars are faster But, why FE dont race in a full race track??
They do in Portland International Raceway. They have to lap 10 seconds off the pole pace while going five wide along the straights to make it to the end, while Portland is still shorter than Monaco and just less than half the length of Monza
They'd run out of battery too quick. Probably around 7 laps at Monza, maybe less than that. Not that they can't do typical tracks, its just a matter of length and braking zones. Next season will see them at Portland, Shanghai F1 track(shortened layout) and either Imola or Misano (likely also modified/shortened). So they're starting to go that way as the cars evolve.

I know this has nothing to do with the race, but that’s the Formula E logo on the thumbnail?? That’s quite a downgrade to what they originally had.
My reaction the first time i saw the new logo was "somebody really loved the Nestle letter font huh?".
It's awful isn't it? It does a terrible job representing what Formula E is. It's like an 80s diesel station wagon racing series 😂
