I found out recently that my great grandmother was from Stirlingshire scotland, it's now a huge dream to one day see the very land she may have walked on. Thank you so much for making this video
My great aunt is buried there and my granny is buried across the road in Ballengeich. I went on a ghost walk there once. Fascinating.
your loved ones are resting in a beautiful place your great aunt and your grandmother, may they continue to rest in peace
LOL!! Did you meet up with your aunt and granny???? haahaaahaaahaa!!!! Sorry i just had to ask. Best wishes Karl.
Cool mate.🇦🇺👍🏻👻

Love from Lahore Pakistan 0214242102
One of my fave things to do...is walk thu a cemetery. ..the dead need a visit now and again ....i find them very calming...thankyou you for sharing. Peace
I agree
Don't be afraid!somtiimes' it is meant to be!!!!!
I find it very calming as well. When I would get in fights with my mom I would go up there hill to an old cemetery near our house and just sit there at this one grave that said "our darling Haley" it was a baby's grave that was 2 months old when she passed. Mom always knew where to find me.
@Katie Did It now that was sad and regretful, you didn't found the site.I say next time make it your business to find the time to look for them and don't get distracted.
@@BeeWOWdbyAprilLee now i thought i was crazy to find a cemetery calm and peaceful .Do admire the head stone.
Thanks for visiting Scottish historical places. 2 of my grandparents were from there, so I appreciate the history.
Unbelievable church and the ceiling made of wood was remarkable craftsmanship! The Cemetary was amazing. It is so very beautiful. And it is easy to see Scott’s value their history and the people who lived and died for their country mean a great deal. Thank you Matt for making and sharing this video most of us would otherwise never see👏🏼
Scots*
Stirling's Old Town Cemetery is a place I have often visited, but you have helped me see it with fresh eyes. Your video will bring a new generation of visitors to the Royal Burgh, well done, Matt.
This is fascinating, I visited Stirling Castle but missed the graveyard. I was born in Scotland, came to America on a ship when I was 6.
How amazing how these very old and beautiful places of history are somehow still there and cared for through centuries of all kinds of invasion. Pray these places are as they are now and just as well loved and so respected so that they are safe allways.
I went to Stirling last year and visited this same place and literally had like an hour long conversation with the nice man that walked with you through the cemetery. This is so cool.
the live one or the ghost , mind you it,s hard to tell the difference , this sounds like the ghost. used to play there when we were bairns , also Christened their. our Family church .plus ma mum was a Sundau School Teacher.
What an absolutely stunning cemetery and church! I wanna visit Scotland so bad!!
Matt-one of the best videos I’ve viewed. Scotland and its people are my heritage. Thank you
It was great that you filmed the old man telling his stories! Such knowledge should never be forgotten by the following generations. To think that the graveyard also has a connection to another famous character from the other side of the world as well! A lesser known legend in his own right too!
That was a beautiful church and cemetery! Interesting how they had sort of the rough hillside terrain with trails in it. Lots of grand headstones in there.
RhettyforFun Yeah, nothing even comes close that ive seen. So much character and respect paid to this place.
In Scotland you will find that a lot - even in larger parks in cities most of the part will be well cultivated but they try to leave a part to grow rather more wild as nature intended as it attracts more wildlife ,birds and insects as well as giving people a feel of what it must have been like before it was even a park
I love grave yards so much history, so many stories. ❤
Stirling is my "hame toon"; walked where you did many times. Thank you...very well done. X
I've always wanted to visit Scotland. That cemetery is incredible and the history. Wow. Thank you for taking the time to film it for us.
I love seeing old cemeteries, you can feel the life energy from before the people were buried there. I love to read the headstones, so next time you go can you swing by Australia and let me hide in your suitcase lol.
The oldest stone from 1579. That's long, long ago. The history just drapes around everything so profoundly. I've got to go see this. Thanks for posting this.
Thats not to say there arnt people buried there from a good few hundred years before - as the man in the video said there had been churches on that site before but made of wood - older grave markings would most probably have been made of wood if marked at all
this channel is outstanding when you cover haunted cemeteries and castles they are my favorites, well done
Wow the church and stain glass windows are amazing 💕
The inside of the church manages to astonish even in a video. Simply amazing
Just beautiful
I wish I could like this a million times over!!!! i love love love love Scotland! I am hoping to get there in January! EEEEE!!!!! Love this so so so much!!!! That accent though...I could listen to a Scotsman talk all day.....
Rambling Redhead That woukd be awesome. Thats a cold, dark time to visit scotland. But it will still be amazing. Juat be prepared for cold, windy, rainy, dark weather. :-)
Which accent though? People prattle on about ‘Scottish or UK accents’, well which one? They vary from place to place.
Bluewolfe agreed, pal. The Stirling accent varies so much from my Glaswegian accent, (which isn’t typical slang).
Love this graveyard spent most of my childhood days running about here thanks for sharing this pal love it x
Janice Sinclair So did a , i think nearly awe the bairns fae the toon played there sometimes ,i,m from Goosecroft road , doon by the bus station.
I was so touched by this one. Thank you also to your new friend and his additional stories. This one was special.
Denise Wilson So glad this one touched you. Hope you keep enjoying my videos. :-)
It is good to have historians about. My son visited here last year ...Stirling Castle and the cemetery. His greatgrandad was born in Stirling. We are from down under.
Beautiful. Very interesting.
Beautiful church and cemetery!!! Stirling, Scotland is so beautiful!!!
Beautiful Scotland! You did a perfect job with this video. The music, the atmosphere, the walk 'o' the churchyard, the whole ambiance was simply spot on. Thank you😀😀😀
I was there in 1996. Such a beautiful place.
One day, I would LOVE to visit and spend some time in Scotland. I have lots of ancestors in my family tree who originally came from Scotland and Ireland, learned from my DNA that I'm almost half Scottish (surprise there) so yea, lots of Scots way back in my tree (Most of my family tree has been here in the States since the 1600-1700s). Beautiful cemetery and church, would loved to have been able to be there to look at all of the headstones.
You mean that you had ancestors who either came from, we’re born in, or lived in Scotland? I was born, bred and live in Scotland. All my ancestors were too. I’m Scottish. All these Americans claiming that ‘they’re half Scottish’ etc, etc.... they have Scottish ancestry.
It’s just disappointing that Scotland has been overrun with immigrants. 😢😢😢🇦🇺👻

Love this video...thank you. This is the land of my people...the Douglas.
Are you Scottish?
Such a beautiful graveyard and so well kept.my ancestors immigrated from Scotland to Vitginia in America. I am a McElyea and like so many cherokee also. I love the gravestones. Thanx for a lovely video.❤😊
The church is beyond beautiful. What a wonderful experience to see if you don't have the opportunity to go. If I do, Scotland and Ireland are on my list for certain. Thanks for sharing.
Cemetery is a good place to walk tru I have done this for years. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing. I have ancestors in Scotland and find the land, people all fascinating. Just a little info it is Holy Rood.
The sign inside says Rude...
Wrong, it’s The Church of the Holy Rude. I’m Scottish. There is other places in Scotland named ‘Holyrood’ such as our Parliament. But this church is a Burgh Kirk and named ‘Holy Rude’.
Stirling is a great place. Has it’s not so nice places too. But it’s steeped in history. www.holyrude.org/

Oh yes it is!
My husband and I both gave a lot of Scottish ancestry. I think the country of Scotland is a very beautiful country and I am proud to be Scottish ancestry and would love to visit.

Just stunning!!Thanks so much for showing this.
Beautiful. Jed was possibly a ghost. The music background is wonderful. Magnificent church and grand organ.
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us!
My friend is acquiring ancestry rights and possibly relocate to Scotland. Truth be told I'm a bit envious of my friend's plans, thank you for an interesting upload. Scotland does have beautiful graveyards in fact, beautiful environment. Thank you for this piece.
What an absolutely beautiful and fascinating place. Well done! Thank you.
My husband and I both have Scottish ancestry and I find the country very beautiful and would love to visit.
Great video and sound track backing. Thanks for giving me the experience of almost being there. Beautiful church and cemetery!
I was here in 2018. What I found fascinating was that one headstone listed several bodies in the same grave. Including first and second wives.
Kathy Morrison it was usual to dig them 6 lairs deep , it,s a family plot , different generations.
douglas todd I had never heard of multiple burials like that, as we live in the South (United States). I love that Cemetary.
Thank you so much for sharing your historic video of this amazing cemetery.
Amazing for it’s age. Beautiful. Thank you Mat
Awesome videos! It's so clear! Feel like i'm actually there.
Thanks!
I visited this place several times while I was working near Stirling in '06. Excellent views, tranquil place. Great video!
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 Have just stumbled across your videos. Really enjoyed this one (1st one for me).We will be Scotland in 2 years doing ancestry trails, but going to make sure we drop in here. Have now subscribed to you channel. 😁
Terrific tour as was your castle tour. Thank you.
Thank You for this delightful tour of Stirling's old cemetery. BUT, unfortunately, you missed the most intriguing location there. A small stone circle near the southern wall of the castle. Probably over 2,000 years old so this predates any of the other structures by many centuries. I hope to investigate this area soon and find out if it has been closely researched by Historic Scotland in recent years. - Or has it just been ignored like so many other prehistoric sites which have been incorporated in populated environments. There have been occations when urban development has dug up ancient monoliths and shifted them to a more 'convenient' location, thereby losing the whole importance of the reason why it is there. We are only gradually revealing our ancient heritage and piecing these fragmanted remains and history of our ancestors together.
Thanks for taking the time to share with us all
What a beautiful graveyard and castle. Thanks for sharing 💙

Very wise - the ghost of Big Morag is not a friendly ghost
Such a beautiful and awesome cemetery 🪦
Such a beautiful kirk. I could almost hear the powerful words of the Thundering Scott John Knox ringing out across the valley. There's a wonderful book worth buying titled The Border Reivers that covers the turmoil within and between the Border Clans of Southern Scotland near the English border and the Jed. Thanks for the epic video Matt! 🤜💥🤛
ah yes, the misogynistic zealot John Knox....great place of history that still stands, one of very few left
There,s a book i used to have it was called BY THE GRACE OF GOD it,s about James the VI of Scotland and his time living in Stirling Castle Home of Scottish Monarchs

I've watched this video before and had to watch it again. The history is so interesting there, don't think I have any past or present relatives from there. All the architecture is wonderful but I imagine the castles were cold places. Great filming and music. From northern minn.
It was a pleasure to view this!

Beautiful place full of peace and history… :)
Loved this ! Some of my ancestors were from Scotland. The last name of Boyd was one of them.
There was an old saying to my country ''never point to a grave yard or else your finger will rot and fall off,so when ever you pointed a grave yard, you got to bite all fingers in your hands''.Well the school that i attended was close to a grave yard which you can view from up the hill.I sure did a lot of finger biting as a child.
My dream is to visit Scotland.
Mine too!
My father was a Scot. I've never met half my family. Would love to visit one day. Blessings from Australia.

Incredible vlog. You take us to so many amazing places. The narration and background music set the perfect mood. Have been following your videos since I came across the ones of Mackinac Island. Are you an educator or professional photographer? Outstanding work. Thanks.
Wow. Love the History and beauty.
You have the perfect voice for telling haunted tales. ☺
Wasn't expecting there to be a narrator that wasn't Matt. Haha! Jed sure knew quite a bit. It was cool to see the areas that he was talking about and you can see all the bullet holes in the side of the church at 9:27 .
matthgmdude1 Yeah, so glad i ran into him. Definitly added to the video for sure!
Great shots! Well done sir!!
