Whoa. Must have been a thrill for them to debut this one a gajillion years later to a crowd that knew every word. Looks like an amazing show, one that every band wishes for.
I can't even imagine being there, hearing Davey say "Maybe you guys will know this song too", wondering what they were gonna play... And then those drums hit and you realize they're playing fucking Synesthesia. What a transcendent moment for the people who were lucky enough to be there
Whenever I think I'm outgrowing my love of AFI, I'll stumble upon something like this and all of a sudden I'm 16 again...

Synesthesia, now the world, Rievers music. All these rare AFI songs were played at this show? What the fuck did I ever do to you AFI.
Reiver's Music was at a different show, but this one also got Totalimmortal and Sacrifice Theory which haven't been played many times in the last 15 years or so, and Endlessly, She Said which has been VERY rare since 2007. In fact, I asked Davey about playing it a year or two before this show and he told me no because it's too hard for him to sing now haha. But then they played it like twice after that.

@@TheRealConcertKingafi was my favorite band for most of my young life. I went to see them in Jacksonville Fl and they didn’t play totalimmortal or god called in sick today.
I wasn’t mad. But I realized that they were no longer that band I fell In love with all those years before. I miss that band.
@@jebadiahfyefye8994 Since The Blood Tour, the shows on their headline tours have been changing setlists wildly night to night. Sometimes they play more stuff from one album but they do generally play a good mix of albums, with at least one Black Sails song per night and often one from the even earlier albums. There are still a lot of songs that are more rare than others, but on the more recent headline tours they've done such a great job of mixing it up and pulling out surprises for fans all over the place. The tours where they're only a support act though, those are usually closer to festival sets focused mostly on singles and hits. But they have been better about throwing in at least one or two surprises into those as well. So go see them again if they do a headline show near you and you never know what they might play. I will say they do consistently seem to pull out the biggest surprises at SoCal shows, but some of the setlists from across the country on the Bodies tour were absolutely killer.

WTF, his voice is AMAZING here and in this recent crop of videos. Whatever tweak he's made he sounds better than he has in a decade or more (I'd say since the StS era...). I hope the reinvigorated tour vocals will lead new music which soars like AFI at its best (BSOTS-AOD-STS) did!!
I believe, don't quote me, the band started playing a half step down in the key to make it easier for Davey to stay in key

Do they use pre-recorded backing vocals?
On a few songs, but the vast majority of the backing vocals are live. Snow Cats and is the only one I can think of in regular rotation that uses piped-in vocals, and Hunter and Jade still both sing in addition to the tracks on that one.
