  • The small volcanic island of El Hierro lies far out in the Atlantic, off the west coast of Africa. For ages the island wasn't found on any map, until geographers set the Zero Meridian here in the 14th century. After that, little was heard of this small outpost of Europe. Full of a wealth of nature, the island provides a unique habitat for many species, and is also one of the few islands using new energy concepts to attempt a great leap into a greener future, using an inactive volcano crater as a pumped-storage power plant.

Using volcanic sources for power is great until the magna chamber moves, then what will they use as a source of power?
My father was born on Madeira Island just miles away.
