Don't get too down Chris. I lost my entire left pinky finger and badly damaged my ring fingerover 20 years ago. Did some rehab but mostly just used my hand like nothing happened. I can still do everything I used to and don't even think about it any more. I even went back and used the same table saw that cut it off! Get back on the horse and get back out there for your own sake! Keep doing what you guys want to do! Live your dreams.
I cut off my thumb on a table saw and was able to get reattached. Able to rack up am and ride again also. Don’t have much movement but better than a toe they wanted to sew on! 👍🏼
Wishing you a speedy recovery. I'm glad I came across this video of yours. Apart from the great content, I enjoyed the positivity/positiveness from the both of you. Cheers.
OMG! What a scare that was! I have googled this fish but who could have thought they can bite your finger off. Seems that their teeth remain growing and growing and can be quite big. Happy to hear you are doing ok now and recovering well. And what a killer girl you have in Ange, I mean acting so fast and taking care and kicking you to the hospital. She has been really a rock for you in managing the whole situation. Lots of RESPECT Ange! Keep save you guys and we wish you a wonderful and healthy 2023 for the three of you. Karen & Nieck
I definitely chose the wrong fish to mess with. Ange saved my butt like she has on so many occasions! Couldn't have done it without her. Happy new year to you both and thank you so much for watching our vids.
Chris you are lucky it was not closer to the bone & Ange taking care of you, have known people who have only had a hook from lure that have lost the whole finger due to fish algie from the bite, so very lucky infection is a huge issue, glad you have had seen too, keep dry clean and wish you all the best to both of you you are both strong to go through this, The new spot looks fantastic
Chris all i can say is you were lucky >the pic showed you did not lose a great deal of your finger .In time you wont even notice .Mark that one up as lesson learnt .I hope you both had a great new year and looking forward to 2023.Always following because the journey is fantastic . stay safe
Thanks so much David. Yes hopefully the nerve damage comes right in time. I'm laughing about it already so that's a good sign. Thank you for all of your support in 2022 and I hope you enjoy our future videos in 2023. Happy new year, cheers
what an incredible story and so sorry for the loss of your finger tip. I lost the lower part of my left leg in a motorcycle accident and know what that kind of pain is like. You will be fine with prayers. Glad you weren't alone. Take care of each other and the best of luck with the healing process. Oh my goodness.
Wow Chris - that's such a crazy series of events. It's great that you guys had the foresight to both do your skippers license so Ange could just take over and get you back onshore in a hurry. It just goes to show that you need to be prepared for anything when you're travelling. Having a first aid kit with you was top of that list eh. Get well soon mate and all the best to you both for 2023 👍
Thanks a lot mate. Yes Age saved the day for sure. Always pays to be somewhat prepared - lesson learned. Thanks for watching and happy new year, Cheers
@@piratepete4322 Agree It makes sense for Ange to also have a boat license, but, in an Emergency situation, it’s fair enough that someone not officially licensed, would drive a boat, or car, if need be, to transport an injured person to safety.
Chris, sorry to hear of your Puffer incident, hope you heal up soon, glad you got attention as soon as possible. Ang was a legend getting camp up and back to shore. Wish you all the best for a speedy recovery. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and have a Safe, Healthy, Happy New Year as you welcome your son may all go well and healthy.
Hi Charlie, thank you so much. Ange was the hero of the day (and every other day) for sure. The finger is healing quite well which is good. Thank you for watching the vid and happy new year to you and yours also. Cheers
Pretty gruesome story, thanks for sharing. It's funny I once had a bad accident on Moreton Island (sliped an Axe into my foot deep enough to cut a tendon to a toe) and I remember thinking the same thing as you Chris, I was like, na yeah, can probs just finish the camp and then deal with it, nope, it definitely needed emergency medical attention. Looking forward to seeing your adventures in 2023 and maybe catch you on the road some time.
Haha luckily I had Ange to shake me to my senses! The island was just too good... Hope your foot/toe healed up all right in the end mate. Thanks for watching the vid and happy new year
oosh I got so lucky this summer, I hit my foot with a hatchet wearing flip-flops (thongs I don't know what they're called down under) it was deep but id didn't bleed that much, I was able to use some big bandages and finish our weekend. Heck of a scar for little blood. We keep learning, stay safe out there.
Thank you once again for the content of your video I'm so sorry that that happened to your hand. Happy that things are looking up for you in the new year. What I like in the first part of your videos when Andrew is trying to get in the boat and her cute little belly wouldn't let her do that until you got into shallow water. All the best to you in the new year can't wait to see that little, it will change your life forever, and love that you never thought you had. Until next time take care!
Thanks so much Jack. Ha she's such a trooper for managing to get into the boat that way with bub attempting to block her. We can't wait to meet the little man in a couple months. Happy new year to you and yours, cheers
Hello Chris wishing you a speedy recovery Ange you are great support wishing you two enjoyable new year. Enjoy your time there but I'm looking forwarded to see same MOG adventures soon. Keep safe please.
When I had a K wire in my finger, I 3d printed up a cylinder closed off at 1 end. It provided protection from bumping and also kept it dry when showering best thing I ever did for it. It’s very cheap and easy, let me know if this could help as it looks like you have a bit of a healing journey ahead.
Sounds like a great idea. I'm past the bleeding stage now so I can get it wet again which is good. Thank you for the offer though. Thanks for watching, Cheers
what a way to finsh 2022, what a story to tell the rand Kids .... its great Ange can pilot the boat but might be an idea for her to be able to drive the Mog, for occasions just like this ... anyway Happy New Year, nest wishes for 2023 , stay safe out there the 3 of you, Cheers Garry
Hi Chris & Ang, that was really rough experience, I think the fish was a Sea Toad some years back, a guy was beach fishing, and he had his big toe bitten off by a toad. Just as well, you didn't put the fish between your legs ...the out come could have been much worse.😀 hoping the finger heals well.
Hi Ian, yes toad fish is another name for them I think. That's two people who have had a toe bitten off by them just in these comments! Haha wow - I would give 5 of my fingers instead of losing the crown jewels... Thanks mate
Chris so glad to see you’re healing as well as could be expected after a serious injury. Kudos to Ange for handling the emergency so efficiently and bravely, specially, in her condition 🤰. You mentioned getting back in the water. Don’t gamble with your health by getting an infection. Why not just chill for awhile… Anyways, all the best to you and Ange. We look forward to the birth of your new baby boy. You know, he’s going to have a “world wide” group of Aunts and Uncles to virtually spoil him…😉 Regards from Miami, Florida 🇺🇸
I think his finger tip wouldn't get so bad if he had been having some sea water soak every day, so the wound would be cleaned. It seems that it was on bandages for too long and got infected because of that. That is my opinion based in what I just watched.
When I was age 27 I was involved in a car wreck as a passenger. The shock of my injuries killed me. Subsequently for the past 46 years I have had to live in the kind of pain you describe with your finger. Just be happy knowing your pain will subside and life will get back to more or less normal. You will adjust to the "new" finger but as time goes by it will "remind" you that it was damaged. Pain brings out character.
Man sorry for the incident, haven’t watched in a bit sorry bout that, but what a big surprise congratulations to both for the oncoming baby best wishes for the new year!
Been there and done all the rehab and re-shaping of the fingers. Lost my left index and damaged middle finger and thumb in work accident. Surprised myself and looked at your photos 😳 glad it wasn’t any worse for you and you’ve joined a new club! Don’t risk it and get in the water to soon.
Ouch! That looks like it was painful, and of course, you could not have picked a more painful place to "scrape the bone". Glad your now both OK. All the best to all 3 of you.
Hi Chris & Ang hope you both are ok I keep watching for a post to see if your ok. we have been thinking of you both hope the recovery is going ok I know it is a long one . I lost the end of my finger in a planer I was a guitarist in a band and was a hard process getting through it but I adapted and started playing keyboards lol I got through it eventually .we miss you both take care and know we are thinking of you as are others regards Chris & geraldine
I had that same finger tip smashed off between two fence posts. They were able to put it back on. As you said it was extremely painful. Your description of the smell is exactly spot on. I will never forget that smell.
Hey Chris met you a few day after the finger reduction in BUCASIA sorry didn’t get back to you to catch up. Great to see your better and hope your in the water again ?
You joined the club. Mine was my mate, fixing tv antenna. He went to talk to the old land line. No mobile phones them days. Needed the dunny. The ladder was bad. Stepped on brick wall. Arch fell, I fell and three bricks still together hit my hand point first. Had to sleep hanging off. Next day they put it back. Russell
Woow. Chicos, Ahora Relajarse, Disfrutar. Feliz Navidad a la distancia y Un Muy Feliz Año Nuevo 2023. Saludos desde Cordoba Argentina.
As a user of keyboards and calculators I felt your pain. I crushed my middle finger using a crowbar splitting it like a grape and breaking the bone at the tip. The concern then was infection in the bone. Had alls sorts of trouble with stitches not holding. 4 years later still no feeling in the finger. I think you were lucky not to break the bone. Wish you a speedy recovery. Yes take time out. Rest, recover and return.
As someone who horribly mangled my fingers in an anchorage winch and had a middle finger dramatically amputated at the first knuckle, I will give some insight. That finger will be very sensitive to touch, like an electrical shock. Rest assured it will become desensitized over time where you won't notice it. Also, you may experience what I experienced. As my injured hand became more usable I noticed I was using my good hand as if it was also missing the finger tip. There was some right left brain thing going on. I had to remind my brain that nothing was wrong with my good hand to keep dexterity. It was wild. Also with your injury there is a chance part of your finger will grow back. I have a friend that lost the end of his thump just after the first joint and it grew back.
You'll be right. It will probably hardly be noticeable in a year or two. I took the tip off my left thumb on a paper guillotine many years ago to a similar extent. Half way down the thumb nail but angled toward the tip, so it missed the bone. I only had it dressed at a hospital, no op or stitches. For a long time it was a bit shorter and flatter on the end, but now it's back to normal and you couldn't even tell it happened. Good luck with it.
Hell of a story, i have seen those puffers bite straight through a steel hook, your finger would have been nothing, glad to hear it is healing well, hope it continues to get bettter
What an adventure. You're making so many memories in your journey. Most good, some not so good. Either way they are all part of your life together. Experiences that you can not only share with others and your children(or children should you decide to have more) but also with each other.
Ohh wow Chris what a Scary experience glad the Dr could save most of your finger. Ange glad you stayed calm packing up and getting to the hospital as fast as possible. Take care and one step at a time 🥰 Happy 2023 🎆🤩
I feel for you mate I did a similar thing 6 months ago with a grinder and cut off wheel. still tender on the end of the stump but starting to come right. OH well still 9 to go EH! Happy new Year to the 2.5 of you guys
Happy new year to you three. Glad to hear your on the mend Chris. Got my fore finger caught in my winch trying to do something that had been against all my training and experience it was one of those ill just do this quick moments. Ended up with rope burns and stripped flesh and a lot of bleeding. I had to wrap it up and drive 30 mins to hospital. Many stiches at least 40 of the stick on one's were applied and it was wrapped up professionally ( living in a rural community the farmers are always getting bad fingers, the nurse told me). It's healed now but tendons must have been damaged as I have restricted movement and cold weather it throbs as a reminder of my stupid actions.
What an ordeal hey? You've seen the North West Blowfish I guess. Same devil. They will bite through wire trace with no issue. Well at least there was no damaged bone from what you said. Lessons of life. Thank you for the great content and it allows us to come along for the ride. Happy New Year and be safe.
I am surprised they did not do a skin graft. My son lost the tip of his finger late last year and they gave him an anaesthetic in the finger so he could go home for the night and then back the next day for surgery and a skin graft was done. I hope you have a good recovery. When you do rehab ask them for a plastic mould for your finger so it protects it from bumping it etc. Happy New Year, and wait to meet the new addition 😊
Hi Katherine, they did take a flap of skin and try to cover my finger tip which has helped but it's not great. Maybe I could do with another one. I was given a silicone finger tip glove to wear at night for 'stump shaping'. It's weird ha. Happy new year to you too and thank you so much for watching. Cheers
Ha! A few days ago I was working with a reckless coworker and the tip of my right (I am right handed) index finger got smashed. The doctors said it is a compound fracture and the bone is in pieces. I don’t really feel any pain, but my finger looks really strange. I feel for you as I am going a bit stir crazy with boredom. I can’t work at my job or go to the gym. Just kind of sitting around watching movies…and doing what I can to keep from getting depressed. 😬
I am glad you are better. One tip: fish are very sensitive to vibration. Hold onto the rubber bands when you move your speargun to the side. Only let go of your grip around the bands, once you are in position to shoot. All the best to the two of you and be safe.
A workmate pinched the end off his index finger too in a mechanical workshop. Very similar amount trimmed off the end.( He undone bolts on a gearbox cross member that had a torsion bar attached.) I hope you have a better journey than him. Three years later he could barely touch anything with it.
Sorry man! I really injured my dominant index finger with a sledge hammer, still don't know what happened tbh. I know the pain you're talking about, glad you're through the worst of it. I got to keep my nail at least but the bone was always slightly separate inside so if I jab it into something I still 10 years later get a jolt of electricity. Best of luck on the recovery!
Happy new year to the 3 of you. Chris i know what you're going through with your finger as I got the tip of my right ring finger caught in a hydraulic log splitter that required micro surgery but fortunately for me didn't loose anything it was just crushed out of shape so its all good. I wish you well In what will Be a long recovery to a new normal for you. But I understand your pain have a nice break just with anger and bub.
This is heavy guys. Good job keeping your shit together and getting back safely! Hope it heals up well for you. great story to tell over a few beers once it’s all sorted!
Glad you’re okay. I recently found your channel and can’t stop binge watching. At least you got a cool new nickname: Tip Off…. Hahahahaha. Too soon ? ✌🏻❤️🇿🇦
This is where discussing risks, possibles and some ‘what if’s’ and then what actions/kit you have and what you will do comes to the fore… you were lucky the incident not worse.
Yes 100%. Luckily we do this quite regularly so we had some bandages with us and a few forms of communication if we needed to call for an air rescue etc.
Over here in WA, spearfishermen fear these big blowies more than sharks. Especially the often aggressive northwest blowie. They can take a chunk out of anything.
Sorry about your finger Chris. Glad you are on the mend now, but good luck with it. People worry about spearos with sharks....who would have thought a puffer fish would have caused you so much trouble?! Great work Ange in your capability to look after Chris, and with the common sense to make him get into the hospital. Us males can be a bit stubborn at times ;) I see you are now working your way south, so if you get to Brisbane and want to go over to North Stradbroke island let me know and I will look after you.
That is a long way from here! Ya never know when one of those crazy fish could jump out at you though... Thanks a lot for watching mate and happy new year
@@TheOutFit Thanks for putting the time and effort into those videos. Actually just found your guy's channel because I'm into expedition trucks aka your unimog. But your content has made me watch more videos :) Happy new year
Hey guys, I just came across this channel. I can’t believe a big puffer fish bit the end of your finger off - that’s crazy. I caught one on a soft plastic a few weeks ago and it bent the hook with its beak almost sheared through it. I was filming it underwater and never knew about the risks associated. I used pliers to get the hook out but was in the water with it. Anyways, glad you are on the mend and I’ll put a warning in my video. Thanks guys. I’ve liked and subscribed to your channel as well. Take care and can’t wait to view some more content. Cheers 🥂 🎣
Thanks a lot Tony. I pulled the tip of my finger out of the glove a bit later and somehow the glove wasn't even cut so it didn't help at all unfortunately. Happy New Year, cheers
Loving the journey guys................odd question but where did Chris get his hat from the one that has a flap that covers his neck? Thanks in advance. On the finger issue it will be a great story to tell your child!
Thanks

Arch fell, I fell and three bricks still together hit my hand point first. Had to sleep hanging off. Next day they put it back. Russell
Ouch! That doesn't sound fun at all. Did it mend up okay?
Cheers
Glad to hear you still have it..you are extremely fortunate. God bless!
Wishing you a speedy recovery! Happy New Year to you both.
Happy Birthday year guys sorry to hear about your news take care and safe travels 😊
Thanks mate and happy new year to you too. Cheers
Woow. Chicos, Ahora Relajarse, Disfrutar. Feliz Navidad a la distancia y Un Muy Feliz Año Nuevo 2023. Saludos desde Cordoba Argentina.
Thank goodness you are going to be alright. Ang looks absolutely stunning. Pregnancy certainly agrees with her.
OMG!!! Glad you're on the mend!!!
Thanks Bob, cheers
As a user of keyboards and calculators I felt your pain. I crushed my middle finger using a crowbar splitting it like a grape and breaking the bone at the tip. The concern then was infection in the bone. Had alls sorts of trouble with stitches not holding. 4 years later still no feeling in the finger. I think you were lucky not to break the bone. Wish you a speedy recovery. Yes take time out. Rest, recover and return.
Ouch! That sounds like a hell of an ordeal mate. Thanks a lot and happy new year to you and yours.
Happy New Year to you both, and all the best with your recovery, Chrissy Boy 🙏🤗
Cheers Robert. The finger is much better already thank you.
Happy new year to you both and speedy recovery.
Thank you and the same to you! Cheers
Glad your okay... and taking care of each other.
Glad your ok mate. Thats hectic. And congratulations to the little one on the way🤙🏼
You'll be right.
Thanks a lot mate. Yeah hopefully the nerve damage goes away completely - may just take some time. Cheers
Hell of a story, i have seen those puffers bite straight through a steel hook, your finger would have been nothing, glad to hear it is healing well, hope it continues to get bettter
Insane bite force on those things! Thanks a lot mate and happy new year. Cheers
All the best for 2023, be safe 👍
Thanks and the same to you
What an adventure.
Ouch! Grinders definitely scare me. Glad it's coming right mate. Cheers
Thanks Graham. Ouch that sounds bloody rough! Happy new year. Cheers
Healing improvements can occur over years, and PT is really important. Hang in there, folks.
Yes similar fish I think! Some serious bite force on them. Cheers mate and appreciate you watching the vids. Happy new year to you too
I seen yous in Bundaberg gave you a toot with air horns ang gave a big wave
Heal quickly Chris, Happy New Year. love the content ❤
Chin up mate, speedy recovery.
Love ya vlogs, hope your finger gets better sooner than later, ❤️🦘🦘🦘
Thanks Steven, we appreciate you watching them. Happy new year, cheers
Cheers
ouch, looking forward to see more in 2023, thank you both plus 1 ...
Thank you and appreciate you watching the vids. Cheers
sorry to hear mate, hope the it the finger turns out ok. I spose you could try get the mog in some diability parking now though as a positive
Haha I hadn't thought of that. Cheers mate and happy new year
Get well soon .Good luck .😍🙏
Thank you! Happy New Year
I am glad you are better.
One tip: fish are very sensitive to vibration. Hold onto the rubber bands when you move your speargun to the side. Only let go of your grip around the bands, once you are in position to shoot.
All the best to the two of you and be safe.
Why would you mention a "tip"? 🤣🤣🤣
You make really GOOD videos keep it up ....love THEM...
Wishing you a speedy recovery mate and all the best for 2023 to you both 👏❤️🎆🎇🥂🍾
Thanks a lot Richie and Happy new year to you and yours too. Cheers
A workmate pinched the end off his index finger too in a mechanical workshop. Very similar amount trimmed off the end.( He undone bolts on a gearbox cross member that had a torsion bar attached.) I hope you have a better journey than him. Three years later he could barely touch anything with it.
Hoping for a speedy recovery. What games do you play?
God bless. Safety first. In the end, all is good. Back to having fun.
Thanks guys.
Take care and Happy New Year to you both. At least is was the left hand. Imagine trying to use loo paper with the other hand.
So glad it wasn't my right! Thanks mate and same to you
Happy new year to the 3 of you.
Cheers Brendon. I'm lucky I had Ange with me for sure. So true, will make a great story! Thanks for watching the vid mate and happy new year
Glad you’re okay. I recently found your channel and can’t stop binge watching. At least you got a cool new nickname: Tip Off…. Hahahahaha. Too soon ? ✌🏻❤️🇿🇦
Haha never too soon. Cheers mate
Sorry about the finger bro - good times coming with your little boy
Cheers Andrew! We can't wait to be parents. Happy New Year mate
Happy New Year to you all. Get well soon and look after each other.
Thanks a lot Mark, happy new year to you and yours also
holy sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! something to learn from. i wont make that mistake lol, thanks for sharing
Thank you, very helpful. I just ran 3 fingers through a wood planer last night. Best of luck.
Woooooow im laying here in my bed in Denmark and a story like that seems so far from reality from my point of view 😅
You are hard-core dude! 😅😂
But your content has made me watch more videos :)
Happy new year
Happy New Year and hope you have a speedy recovery.
Thanks a lot Andre for watching! Happy New Year to you too.
Cheers 🥂 🎣
Good luck with the full recovery. May it all be good. No more hi 5’s hey. Give me 4 1/2.
Wow, thank god you went to the hospital and lucky you had a glove on or it could of been worse. Happy new year to you both
Thanks a lot Tony.
Thank you so much for watching! It's a hat from New Zealand, the name is "Optimum".
