Its been shown in the comic series as well as the book version that grandpa did have a run in but it was with a different vampire. It was the widow who turns grandpa into a half vampire. The bottles he drinks are actually filled with animal blood and it's also hinted throughout the movie that Grandpa is also seen wearing sunglasses in daylight just like Micheal starts to do after he is turned.
Back when The Lost Boys came out, it was so popular because the Coreys were definitely teen heart throbs, but it hurts to know about all the terrible things that happened to them? League is also a classic to me, I totally can see why it was a huge failure, they didn't have enough time for each character and expect you to know the characters in the stories from their books(I know the books so to me it was good).
I love League. I was very familiar with most of the league except Alan, so I was ecstatic to see them cast working together as a group. Of course I would have loved to seen more character development for them individually. I thought their individual story lines were well thought out but not enough time in the film to display all of their attributes to their potential. I did enjoy the plot as well, it was a great idea also. It could have been even better with more time. They packed a lot of information into a small package, likely with the hopes of some spin-offs. I was truly saddened that nothing else came from the movie. I'm sure several people felt that way. I would have loved to have seen some origin stories or character specific movies as a result of League. I will continue to love what I have and there's always hope that one of the characters will be explored further in the future.
One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I was only three when it came out but I guess my dad saw it in theaters and loved it so so much that as soon as it came out to VHS, he bought a copy for Home. I remember watching it over and over again with my family on VHS as a kid.
Yes, the Gecko brothers are a reference to the Frog brothers. There's also a reference to Lost Boys in Reservoir Dogs. Tim Roth's character says something about it if I'm not mistaking.
When Tim Roth is going over his anecdote to make his undercover character more believable, he mentioned that his friends would call him all the time looking to buy weed while he was trying to watch t.v. "I'm trying to watch the Lost Boys!".
I don't remember where I read it but the first draft of the script originally has Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being vampire children. Hence, why they never grow old. Peter Pan was changed to David and they were aged up to elder teens/young adults in a subsequent draft.
The original glittering vampies! They bleed glitter! LOL I lived in Santa Cruz in college and loved walking around the areas where they filmed this movie. It's a classic!

I think you're looking too much into the blood bottle. I believe it was used as an easier way to trick people into becoming vampires instead. Plus if Max wanted all other vampires under his thrall without making himself known, it makes sense to use a convenient bottle. Second tidbit that i mention whenever i see lost boys get reviewed. The second film features Angus Southerland, Kiefer's younger brother, essentially playing a stoned version of David named Shane.
After seeing the movie so many times I believe the reason that the other vampires were able to get in was because Max was already invited in. They never made it clear but that's the only thing that makes sense.
I absolutely love your content mate. I'm a bit of a vampire fan myself lol. The Lost Boys is up there with the greatest in the genre, and I love revisiting it.
Yea you can control certain things within your environment, harness wind to fly use telepathy etc, and walking in sunlight would also be a plus making it way more enjoyable.
the Warhammer fantasy Vampire counts are my favorite world building kind their lore history and the fact they are not connected to chaos gods only necromancy
But I've always been curious I would think even as a half vampire consuming human food wouldn't really give you nourishment, and considering the minute you consume blood you become a full vampire so Idk how star and the kid have survived for so long, or maybe because your half human regular food would keep you alive but I imagine your no where near as strong as a full vampire
I love this movie. The saxophone player, Tim Cappello, is quite famous and returned for a cameo in Gunships song Dark All Day. One of the vampires in the What we do in the shadows movie did that joke about the noodles turning into worms with one of his victims.
The reason that Sam wasn't featured in the third movie is that the actor, Corey Haim had died by then. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were acting partners, that's how they got their roles in the film.
I love Bad Moon. It features my favorite dog, German Shepherd vs my favorite movie monster Werewolf. What a PHUCKING fight!! I’d love to read the book but the last time I looked online, used copies were ridiculously priced!
I wonder if any of the characters in this story would look back on it and regret not accepting the offer because now they would still be young. The vampires were still able to eat normal food and retain human form, all they had to do was manage the blood lust from time to time.
Hi Cogan, I just wanted to tell you that your voice is super soothing. You actually calm my nerves when it’s bedtime. I listen to your vids in the daytime when I can’t focus. Thank you very much!!!❤❤❤❤ nuff love my good sir. 🙇♀️
I really love how the actor who played the Master Vampire, Max, portrays the character as a lovable dork. I've always believed the most powerful ability of a vampire is its ability to blend in, pass as human, and come off as non-threatening as possible. Vampires have alot of powers. Super strength, speed, enhanced senses, regeneration, fangs and claws, shape-shifting, mind control, sometimes magic. However, if ppl know what they are, they become very vulnerable. Sleep during the day, sunlight kills them, crosses, holy water, garlic, can't enter a home without an invite, no reflection, etc. Ppl realize what you are, and then it'll go from sugar to shit real quick. Therefore, the most successful Vampires, the ones who can survive for the longest, are not the most powerful or best warriors, but the ones who no one would even think is a vampire even if they know Vampires are real and about. It's a big reason why I didn't like Jerry from the Fright Night remake. Motherfucker just stood out too much. Nothing against the actor, he delivered a great performance.
This was my first vampire movie, love it so much ❤️🩸❤️ my favorite part is when they go into the cave and there's a big picture of Jim Morrison in there

One of the most iconic vampire movies of all time and one of the best actors Kiefer Sutherland was amazing as that bad guy in many movies but is so good at portraying them, especially with his dyed blonde hair and attitude, keep up the great work man loved your work for a long time and you always deliver especially since I don’t know a lot of RUclipsrs that cover vampires and werewolves like you do that much and know how to make it simple but also give a good sense of humor
You should watch him in freeway with Reese Witherspoon. Gem of a film that is a modern day twist on little red riding hood
Did anyone else notice that the grandfather didn't eat with them while Max was over
Grandpa, had already made his plate and was eating in his taxidermy room.
I love the Lost Boys because I don't live far from Santa Cruz and I recognize some of the locations shot in this movie.
Back when The Lost Boys came out, it was so popular because the Coreys were definitely teen heart throbs, but it hurts to know about all the terrible things that happened to them? They tried warning ppl but of course what a lot of folks do to victims, call them liars and ask "Why Didn't U Say Something Before?" Ppl don't think about how those very important/very wealthy ppl, have a lot of power and can make it look as if a star took their own life? Poor Cory Haim, was consumed by it just like others. He used to be my teen crush, and I never could've guessed that he was going thru the same abuse as I did? RIP - Corey Haim 💔
Love the theme song to The Lost Boys. Cry, little sister (thou shall not fall)
Yeah, it's a great song, indeed
@ham472 I've seen the song used in a video here on YT, paying tribute to the movie "Hocus Pocus". It's pretty good, given the sibling relationship parallels. (5/31/2024)
I love Cry Little Sister but I lost my heart to, "To The Shock Of Miss Louise".
Now there's a song that's been living rent free in my head for 37 years!
I've had a burning need to compose music for Fairground Organs ever since.
I too, love the song. I absolutely love Marilyn Mansons cover of the song. It's amazing.
When Michael asked about Murder Capital, Grandpa said "well, put it this way; if all the corpses buried around here was to stand up all at once, we'd have one hell of a population problem" 😅
"lets go to town, this is as close as town i like to go" is a great line
Cry, little sister - Thou shall not fall
Come, come to your brother - Thou shall not die
Unchain me, sister - Thou shall not fear
Love is with your brother - Thou shall not kill.
So it's a song about incest?
i always found it hilarious that the security guards photo went up like that was the only picture anyone ever had of him and only in his uniform. lol I get why, so u could recognize him but its still hilarious.
And he looks miserable in the picture, like he's getting a mugshot photo taken lol
Jason Patric who plays Michael is the half-brother of Joshua John Miller who plays Homer in ‘Near Dark’.
Their father, the legendary Jason Miller who is best known as Father Karras in the Exorcist, would later go on to co-star in the 1979 Tv pilot: Vampire with Richard Lynch and EG Marshall. It is the only time that a father and two son's have starred in three separate vampire films.
@@brianingermann1892 Very cool, thanks for sharing this info.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
This is my all time favorite vampire world and music my sister was murdered a year ago and this was her movie so it holds a place in my heart!!
I'm sorry, that's terrible. I'm grateful you have happy memories with her of this movie ❤
@@Squirellishly thank you so much that's what I have my page devoted to ppl struggling with anxiety and depression. She was taken at 37 with two small sons. I have a thing set up to help them bc times are hard
Love this movie!
It's both funny and scary from start to finish!
It's a wild ride!
Saw this on TV at my grandma's house for the first time.
League is also a classic to me, I totally can see why it was a huge failure, they didn't have enough time for each character and expect you to know the characters in the stories from their books(I know the books so to me it was good).
Another thing they didnt have time for, a coherent plot
I remember watching this as a kid it was the first time I ever saw vampires on screen since then its been one of my favourites to this day
Yes, the Gecko brothers are a reference to the Frog brothers.
It's my favorite vampire movie. The casting was just perfect! ❤
ABSOLUTE CULT CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you can't lose the poll.
This movie is so old that Alex Winter is called Alexander. Like Laurence Fishbourne was Larry in Boyz in tha Hood.
Fishbourne is Cowboy Curtis, thats for life man...
YES!! your finally covering the best vampire film of all time!!!!!
The original glittering vampies! They bleed glitter! LOL
I lived in Santa Cruz in college and loved walking around the areas where they filmed this movie. It's a classic!
Are you sure you got the place right? Pretty sure it was filmed in Santa Monica.
The glittering Part IS by far the least stupid Thing about Twilight. At least If you read the book, she linked the invunerability of vampires to their skin having stonelike propperties, they are cold and hard and Like a Crystal their skincells Break the light . . .Like If you got a slice of Chicken breast, but stronger since the Material IS more stonelike.
Another quite bright thought was, that you get vanpires are stronger then older ones, since they still contain all of their own blood! . .
AS someone Said, If only she tried for Horror or Action she would BE a way better author
@@Thebuffshaman Exterior shots were filmed in Santa Cruz. Interior shots were filmed in Santa Monica. Santa Cruz does an annual watch party for the movie. I went to it every year while I was in college up there.
@@meeshelly25 I heard they initially wanted to use the city's real name, but, because of the then-recent arrest and notoriety of the local serial killer, Edmund Kemper, they changed the second half of the name. (5/31/2024)
@michelleat825designs Of course, they did. It was the awesome 80s. (5/31/2024)
Salem’s Lot and Lost Boys, must be my birthday!
Let's be honest. The Lost Boys of this movie were 1000x more resoectful to the Peter Pan playwork than the Peter and Wendy film 😅
exactly
What do you think of the 4k transfer of The Lost Boys? To me, 9 outta 10... it is a beautiful picture quality.
You are beautiful people ❤
Corey haim was good in the film he truly was a gifted actor gone too soon 😢
Timmy Cappella the saxophone guy was Tina Turner's Saxophonist and now hes been on a bunch of Gunship albums and it's awesome
Cogan Lollins,
I would love for you to take a look at Vampires vs. the Bronx. It’s a really unappreciated horror comedy that I bet most people haven’t heard of
Sam only got a cameo in the second movie. Edgar Frog (Feldman) was basically the only character from the original who was in it.
I came to realize that Spike from Buffy was likely based off of David & Billy Idol. Which is a very good combination. I wish they did do the Lost Boys in its original form with Peter Pan & his Lost Boys as vampires only not as a comedy but as a thriller. That would be such a cool movie for me.
Oh I love League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! It's one of my favorite guilty pleasures
Too bad they made Quartermaine the leader instead of Mina which she was in the graphic novel.
@@catspawgardner3213 ahh well, that's Hollywood for you

Werewolf movies Bad Moon and Cursed and Battle Dog's
And dog soldiers
Top 3 Vampire movies EVER this interview with a Vampire aaaand idk the 3rd I wanna day fright night
What I find interesting is that the vampire comic book title changes through out the movie
There were different comics, about the same subject.
This was and still one of my favorite
After seeing the movie so many times I believe the reason that the other vampires were able to get in was because Max was already invited in. They never made it clear but that's the only thing that makes sense.
They didn't need an invitation to enter, an invitation gave vampires supernatural protections.
@@Thebuffshaman And because they were so reckless everything worked.
Vampire rules are always different in movies/books.
That guy u said looks like a WWE wrestler is apart of Tina Turners band
As always, death by stereo cracks me up
I absolutely love your content mate. I'm a bit of a vampire fan myself lol. The Lost Boys is up there with the greatest in the genre, and I love revisiting it.
Billy Wirth, the dark-haired vampire of David's gang, was one of the first contestants on American Gladiators when it aired.
i think being a half vampire in this would be pretty chill
Yea you can control certain things within your environment, harness wind to fly use telepathy etc, and walking in sunlight would also be a plus making it way more enjoyable.
the Warhammer fantasy Vampire counts are my favorite world building kind their lore history and the fact they are not connected to chaos gods only necromancy
@@ChauncyFatsackI was wondering myself if some of the Blood Angels got some of their lore from this movie.
@@shawnbass-ig2bv, we see David and the gang eat food, too and they're already full-fledged vampires.
"peter pan, but with vampires"
What gave it away?
@@GrumpyMunkyGameDesignmaybe the title "Lost Boys"?
4:29 - It seems like nobody in town likes these guys……🤣 I don’t know why but that line tickled me, couldn’t stop laughing 🤣🤣
You finally covered the Best Vampire Movie Of All Time. Thank YOU sir.
Stop with the double spaces it’s so weird
Silver Bullet next, like Lost Boys you have Corey Heim. Just a neat fun fact I guess.
I love this movie. The saxophone player, Tim Cappello, is quite famous and returned for a cameo in Gunships song Dark All Day.
One of the vampires in the What we do in the shadows movie did that joke about the noodles turning into worms with one of his victims.
17:54 This has to be one of the most iconic vampire movie shots ever created.
The guy playing the sax looks like the antagonist from the eighties , Cyborg.
The reason that Sam wasn't featured in the third movie is that the actor, Corey Haim had died by then. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were acting partners, that's how they got their roles in the film.
LOVE 💕"Lost Boys"! When vampires we hot and movies were great.
Have you ever covered Bad Moon from 1996, it was directed by Eric Red, and was based on the book Thor by Wayne Smith.
I rember renting this as a kid back the early 90's and it just loved it this is a must watch
Hi Cogan, I just wanted to tell you that your voice is super soothing. You actually calm my nerves when it’s bedtime. I listen to your vids in the daytime when I can’t focus. Thank you very much!!!❤❤❤❤ nuff love my good sir. 🙇♀️
Yes, loving the content! Would you consider doing a breakdown on the lore and the vampires of Young Dracula?
The reasons the vampire's werent impacted by crosses is because the cross without actual faith is useless
This was my first vampire movie, love it so much ❤️🩸❤️ my favorite part is when they go into the cave and there's a big picture of Jim Morrison in there
Lost Boys - an awesome story. BTW the sax player was one of Tina Turner's backup musicians.
GOAT vampire movie, prove me wrong
I saw this movie in the mid-90s during the summer school holidays for the first time. I was just a small kid back then - whenever I watch it always brings back those summer memories ...
Just watched this for the first time the other day and loved it.
May be coincidence, but Lucy very much looked like Rosemary from Rosemary’s Baby.
The song that plays while Michael drinks from the bottle always gives me the chills haha I love it!!! The Lost Boys soundtrack is amazing, also you should do the From Dusk till Dawn series if you haven't already
Instead of worrying about they'll make new friends at their new schools, these brothers are fighting vampires. 😂😂😂
Gotta love the nod in the third one to werewolves when the girl in the comic book store reveals her yellow lupine eyes.
The Lost Boys is a cult classic like Hellraiser. Both of them feature Supernatural Elements and show what to do if you're in a problematic curcumstance as this. For I am 30 Years Old and I HAVE NEVER seen this 80s horror movie. I know its hard to believe but its true. For my Mom actually has a VHS copy of this film in her room but we cannot watch it of course for we do not have a VCR anymore. But it is thanks to you and your review that I now know how it happened. For the only movies that comes close to this is Fright Night and 30 Days of Night. Now I need to watch The Howling Franchise.
I heard about a theory that if you look at the Lost Boys clothes you can probably guess from which time period they are from. Looking at them now I kind of see that.
By far my favorite vampire make up… amazing yellow eye contacts and distinctive sharp canines.. always legendary
Lost Boys..
All Time Classic!! 🧛♂️ 🧛♀️
Best ( of what I've seen ) vampire film
Still (for me) one of the best soundtracks ever. This movie is still in my top 10.
