I took a bunch of lessons in a tiny, 2-place helo and landing over water introduces a different dynamic as the water doesn't offer the same air-cushion that solid ground does. Looks like a tight fit and right over the water. Awesome!

@Remain Nameless when I do load calcs in helicopters where I will be less than Effective Translational Lift over the water, I use the performance charts for Hover Out of Ground Effect because water although it provides some benefit, it is not nearly the same as a hard smooth surface. When a helicopter hovers over the water, it disturbs the surface enough that you may be short on performance if you don't properly plan your margin of safety!

That is the absolute closest and confident landing I have ever seen in all my years of aviation ....... your right spectacular and let’s not forget EPIC !!!!!!

Skills to pay the bills!! I was an Army Crew chief for 6yrs and That pilot almost certainly received his training in military aviation and if I'm wrong then he missed his calling and they missed out on an EXTREMELY talented aviator.

It's good to have pilots like this at home for helping people, y'all can't claim all the talent now lol. Although seeing a group of hovering chinooks on a mountain too would be dope

He's like a robot. Amazing he came in that hot, and just drifted it into position sideways like lining up a plane on the runway and then just coasted down exactly on point within inches of the edge of the lake.

nowthisis2stupid I guess you must have won the bet nowthisis2stupid. I have been a commercial helicopter pilot and helicopter flight instructor for the past 20 yrs. I have worked in the rocky mountains, the arctic and Central and Eastern Canada. I have 6500 hours of helicopter time as well as a fixed wing licence. The majority of my time has been on Eurocopter (now Airbus) helicopters, primarily the Astar. The vast majority of our work is doing oil and gas support as well as forest fires. All of our landings are confined in remote locations. I have probably landed helicopters 40 000 times. You could probably say I am well versed in what it takes to land a heli. Have a nice day.

Helicopter pilots are a different breed of man
But to be honest, those blades don’t have a hard time cutting through smaller upright branches, and what gets cut, gets flung onto the ground due to the downforce from the rotor.
