To tell ya the truth I'm just a fifteen year old guy. But I play the lever harp and used to have a teacher but we moved to Saudi Arabia where I am now. However I listen to this song right before I go to sleep about four nights of the week. Thank you soooooo much.
I really wish I had George's skill and talent, but even so, he has given me the inspiration to play a lot more regularly on my Overton and Colin Goldie whistles. I am finally, after about 10 years of simply screwing around with these instruments, practising at least an hour a day, starting to sound inoffensive! I do a lot more traditional Irish and Scottish pieces, but I love the things that Lisa and George have created together.
My remote ancestors believed that music was one of the keys to the mysteries of the universe. Before they could study for the priesthood, they had to become master bards - as it was rightfully believed that if one could not play music, all one could do is bray like an ass. This is a validation of this precept. Lisa Lynne and George Tortorelli - what a combination! Beautiful work that lyrics would spoil! I believe it is a bamboo flute of his own make. I play a lot of his work on a D low whistle.
Hello Lisa & George - from the man in Chicago who commented about George watching your hands for the key changes :) We listen often and always enjoy the several CDs we bought from you during the Old Town Chicago Art Festival all those years ago :)
If you like this tune then you should get their album "Love and Peace". It has that tune done in studio quality and a whole album of equally beautiful and enchanting. I have been listening to it for a few years now and I never get tired of it.
I listen to this over and over as I learn on the flute you made me ❤️. One day perhaps So beautiful. I especially love the part at 3:25 but there are so many in this. Makes me soar. Thank you!!!
I think you mean the University of Florida, not Florida State. Florida State is in Tallahassee. They and UF are big rivals, so it's kind of an important distinction! I imagine you've probably heard from several Gators by now... The building you were playing in is called the Baughman Center. It is on Lake Alice, and is often left open so students can come in to meditate, play music, pray, etc. They hold a lot of weddings and memorial services there---in fact, my Mom's memorial was held there.
@coffinadam I lived in Saudi and am Muslim..... I play Horn and it was hard because the society is pretty conservative... But I managed..... I still love Saudi but LOVE my Horn as well.....
The harp is the music of the earth heart and the flute is the whispering and gentle caressing of air and spirit

Hi Leo,
The Irish flute and the bansuri are very similar. Some irish flutes are made from bamboo.
Tom.
Love the sound of the bamboo flute with the harp. I bet that was fun to do. Were you both improvising?
I like it! I like it! I like it! I like it! I like it! I like it! I like it! I like it! ....
