Welcome to Macau! 🎉 As a local, I am genuinely delighted to see RUclipsrs exploring our beautiful city. Please don’t miss the charm of the old town-there’s so much history and stunning architecture to discover! 🏛 You are one of my favorite couple travel RUclipsrs lately! ❤ If possible, I would recommend staying a few more nights to experience different hotels. The integrated resorts in Macau are very cost-effective, and you’ll find plenty of delicious street food! 🍜✨ Additionally, there is a lovely light festival during Christmas and New Year. I sincerely hope you enjoy your time here!
Thank you so much! Oh yes, the old town was incredible - we loved that part!! We got to explore 2 hotels which was amazing, but next time we will stay for longer!
Within Mainland China, you can find Central Asia or Middle East in Xinjiang (as it's nearer to Central Asia). You can find Thailand in certain parts of Yunnan that live the Dai minority (similar to Thai). In parts of Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang, you can find Russia (due to the Russians who once escaped to China a long time ago). In Shandong Qingdao, you can find Germany because it was leased to the Germans for 99 years. Then there are pockets of French, British and Portugese enclaves due to brief occupation of these places during the First World War. I've come to realise this after watching some vlogs.
40:06 Here the bus driver misunderstood and thought you were going to the Ruins of St Paul, thats why he let you out after two stops. That lady was trying her best to help but unfortunately, as with most of the locals, shes probably never heard of the portuguese name "Rua do Cunha" before. I am sure she would have got it if you guys had said "Cunha Street" instead, as Cunha sounds closer to the cantonese name of the Street (and she would have understood what "street" meant)
The buses have a flat fare of 6 MOP, or 3 MOP (?) with Macau pass. Yeah, you caught the bus in the wrong direction, and you were misunderstood (both happened to be two stops away). It would probably have helped if you have shown the phone map to the bus driver instead; even if he couldn't read Rua do Cunha, he could probably figure it out from the map that you want to go to Taipa.
You guys have really crushed your China trip/tour. The videos, stories, reactions, commentaries, interactions, prior research, and recommendations have been spectacular. I'm sure your experiences, the views, and the new subscribers have made the trip worthwhile. I believe you'll return to China soon to explore the interiors. Lovely couple, keep up the amazing work!☺
That's life is also about, not always on the move when you are travelling. With such a nice upgrade, what's better than to kick off your shoes, put on something comfy, clink those champagne glasses with good food in the coziness and warmth of the hotel suite, watching from inside the rain drizzling outside and just talk.
Thanks you guys so much lovely couple to heads Macau,🇲🇴China this week in great joy to visit many remarkable places on the streets in peace Asia December of 2024❤❤❤
What an amazing life journey you are both having, incredible. Remember first watching your channel when you were in quarantine in Thailand in seperate rooms😊 keep following your dreams 💕
Best I can tell, at 40:02, a voice speculated that you might've wanted to go to the Ruinas de Sao Paulo somehow (not knowing that you just came from there; and as you correctly surmised, the Chinese name sounding nothing like the Portuguese), and you happened to say "Yeah, bus number 33" right after, hence the lady and then the bus driver both came to the conclusion that that was where you were trying to get to, as a result. The bus driver even commented that it would be 2 stops away, I'm assuming that was why 2 stops later the bus driver insisted that was the stop (he thought) you wanted when you were "kicked off" the bus.
Ohhhh haha strange that they assumed that, we showed them the name of the stop we wanted in writing. They seemed surprised that it was named in Portuguese, which further confused the situation since all of them are in Portuguese hehe!
@@2Passports1Dream It seems clear that the lady doesn't know Portuguese. She spoke Cantonese but I'm not sure she's necessarily a local. (Perhaps from HK/Zhuhai/Shenzhen/Guangzhou?) The bus driver might've been able to read that but from what I can tell in the video the driver didn't get to see your phone? Anyway, I share your trepidation about riding on buses in foreign countries. Though I have always enjoyed it on occasions where I plucked up the courage AND did all the necessary research. Just realised the bus driver did wonder if you were going to Rua do Cunha at 39:49, perhaps due to the fact that in this case they sound similar enough in the two languages, but no one was in a position to confirm that for him and then they collectively and mistakenly came to the conclusion that it was the Ruinas you wanted. Anyway, I hope you don't feel bad about being "kicked off", it seems that the driver simply thought you wanted that stop that was the one 2 stops away from when you got on.
What's so strange?? You can't speak all languages can you? So don't assume everyone can understand what you're trying to say or do. Do all people in Sweden speak Swedish? Guess not,. So don't assume everyone in Macau knows Portuguese.@@2Passports1Dream

Hello. We also visited Macau last May 2024. Venetian mall in Macau and Manila’s Venice Grand Canal mall have the same man made canal with gondolas inside the malls. Macau was the first one to build. Manila’s version is bigger :). That city has so many modern and luxury towers that are so refreshing to see.
Macau offers the shortest bus route into and out of China to mainland Chinese and foreigners; just remember social gathering in casinos is fine, but gambling can be addictive and lead to significant financial problems.
I visited macao in 2016 and here is a little difference or change i've noticed in this episode. Date back to 2016 , i didn't see so many simplified Chinese characters hanged on advertising board ,most of them are traditional Chinese. so i guess macao government might do something about it.
I hated that ferry. It was a ferry from hell 😅 Macau used to be a Portuguese colony. I noticed a lot of Portuguese wording, but no one actually spoke Portuguese. Like I suspected, the Chinese writings weren't a real translation, but they had their own name for things.
As a Chinese, I never understand why Europeans travel to small Asian countries. In fact, if you stay in China long enough, you will see all the cultures of Southeast Asian countries, Japan, and South Korea. You will find similar cultures in China because the origins are basically in China. If you go to any province in China, you will find yourself on another planet. The food, the culture, everything is completely different. Keep exploring, travelers, you will encounter more surprises. You have only explored one thousandth of this country.
As an HK Chinese, I agree that China has a vast and diverse culture worth exploring, but your comment oversimplifies the uniqueness of other Asian cultures and "small Asian countries" as you called them. While similarities exist due to shared history, "similar" doesn’t mean "the same." Countries like Japan, Korea, and Vietnam have their own distinct languages, traditions, and histories that can’t be fully experienced just by traveling within China. For example, Vietnam has Chinese influences, but it’s also shaped by French, Indian, and indigenous cultures. Similarly, Japan’s Shinto shrines, tea ceremonies, and social customs are entirely unique. Even within China, minority groups like the Dai people in Yunnan may share some cultural similarities with Thailand, but their practices are distinct from the rich and complex Thai culture you can only experience in Thailand itself whether it’s visiting Bangkok’s temples, enjoying real Thai food, or learning about the country’s deep Buddhist traditions. Traveling to these countries allows people to experience their cultures in their true context, not just as a "similar" version.
@@2Passports1Dream 33 is correct, but the one you took was heading to the opposite direction. It would be better to ask some young people nearby but getting on a bus cuz bus drivers do not understand foreign languages.

Macau offers the shortest bus route into and out of China to mainland Chinese and foreigners; just remember social gathering in casinos is fine, but gambling can be addictive and lead to significant financial problems.
The bus driver and the lady thought you guys were going to ruins of St. Paul.
Oh shame that's just where we came from!
12:30 similar to actual tube without the graffiti? Lol
ahahah yes, much cleaner also
Dominican refers to the Dominican Order of friars, founded by St Dominic.
One hour video?
Best wishes
Heheh yes it was 3 days! :)
Mantap
In the Catholic Church there are various orders, like Dominican and Franciscan etc.
It’s a lot like Ceasars Palace
We've never been there!
Macau's casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) was about 5 times more than that of Las Vegas in 2019. In 2023 it was about 2.5 times.
That's so crazy!
There are many free hotel casino buses which is why not many people use the LRT.
Hahah that makes sense!
First ❤
WOW!!
Macao hotels are definitely cheaper than HK, because they have casino in each hotel and they expect to make some money when you play casino.
Hahah makes sense!
Who is David Brekham please?
Hahahah did I say it wrong? lol! David Beckham, the English football player (married to Spice Girl Victoria - aka posh spice!)
I visited macao in 2016 and here is a little difference or change i've noticed in this episode.
Date back to 2016 , i didn't see so many simplified Chinese characters hanged on advertising board ,most of them are traditional Chinese. so i guess macao government might do something about it.
Oh interesting!
Name of hotel please
I hated that ferry. It was a ferry from hell 😅 Macau used to be a Portuguese colony. I noticed a lot of Portuguese wording, but no one actually spoke Portuguese. Like I suspected, the Chinese writings weren't a real translation, but they had their own name for things.
Oh interesting, we assumed it would be a translation!
Absolutely
We don't agree necessarily, it's a different culture and different language and cuisine - very different from china! :)
Most of the English never been to America ! American never been visit to Europe !
for fun, try making an episode without using the descriptive "so". good luck! :)
Hahahah sounds impossible
@@2Passports1Dream it's not so impossible. :)
dominican they wrote in chinese 道明会 its means Dominican Order or Ordo Dominicanorum
The bus u should take is 33 or 22 😦😦
We took 33!
@@2Passports1Dream 33 is correct, but the one you took was heading to the opposite direction. It would be better to ask some young people nearby but getting on a bus cuz bus drivers do not understand foreign languages.
