What Kerry Washington gives here is a masterclass in about 30 second. She says that line, and her face telegraphs that she is expecting her daughter to finish her sentence and say “me”. When she doesn’t, there is the tiniest hint of confusion, and then utter devastation when she realizes that her daughter thinks that she doesn’t love her. Not that I should be surprised with how amazing Kerry is.
