Just a hundred? I mean, the "Caspian Sea Monster" amply illustrated the dangers involved in big ground-effect craft (which this looks like to me much more than an actual aircraft)
If I remember correctly, this is from the XTRO: Boondoggles. It's basically a TRO for failed military concepts that you can use in your game. Mostly for roleplaying games.

@@mageleader3699 this would have been even funnier if the opening text had the Law and order music with the *DUN!-DUN!* sound when they give you the date and time.
The idea of a flying submersible gets my military logistics autism really going. Imagine a submarine with all the capabilities and armaments of a submarine but it was capable of "flying" on the surface of the water even it it had to use some sort of hydrofoil technology. A fully capable submarine that could "self-deploy" anywhere on the planet's body of water in less than a quarter of the time it would take your typical submarine to deploy. THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES MASON.
Not enough naval battles in battletech. Light ship with a medium laser in a lance of 4 could be useful. But a large laser on a turret a LRM launcher for barrage and a couple machine guns and you have a fine ship. Dodging aerospace fighters every minute. Make it submersible to hide and add fast movement by hydrofoil or fusion powered rocket thrust above the waves and you have got a winner there.
If you watched the live action Gerry Anderson TV show UFO, you would know how cool this idea is. The Skydiver Lives! The important question.... Do the pilots, especially the female ones get the same uniforms that the Skydiver ones wore? (^_^)
It reminds me of that strange Russian transport vehicle called Lun-class ekranoplan. Like damn what drugs were the russians on making that thing? Obviously not submersible but god damn look at that thing man. I thought it was some crazy wacky jet plane but nooooo its basically a warship on with jet engines... and on crack.

"Failed Prototype"
Can't imagine why.
"Water and air are both fluids right guys?" -Irian Battlemechs Engineer Circa 3070
Probably said after doing rail of Canopian bam bam powder.
And don't forget space. That there is a LAM in the making.
All those underwater facilities need defending by their own sub, navy and air force.
"Can this ship go down?"
"Like a rock sir."
If you know who Dr. Christmas is, you're either an aircraft historian turbo nerd, or you play BattleTech. 🤔
Or just love the BPL's work
@@dayaninikhaton Those traits are not mutually exclusive. ;-)
Tex & the BPL told (most of) us all we'll ever WANT to know about Dr. Christmas. :D
Flying.... Submersible.... That's about a hundred different engineering problems in one terrible idea.
Just a hundred? I mean, the "Caspian Sea Monster" amply illustrated the dangers involved in big ground-effect craft (which this looks like to me much more than an actual aircraft)
But it comes with one of the best lines "kick his ass seabass"
Jules Verne didn't think so. I'll bet he'd have LOVED Battletech.

Well time for me to go find that shit...
Ah yes, XTRO Boondoggles.
A joy to the battletech universe.
The monitor is an interesting one, as it basically is an ideal thing for a place like Hesperus.
it's like the bat bomb from WWII...except the bat bomb actually WORKED.

@@mageleader3699 lol im getting slightly better at writing comic book scripts, I might just commission this with a friend of mine down the road.

I swear Dr. Christmas and Marcus Rush must have been related.
Someone at Irian found an ancient copy of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and thought Jude Law's P-40 was a solid basis for a military project.
YEA! Got to get that on DVD. Remember to add in a couple of old Jules Verne books too, though.
A safety rating of 7
Every Boat is a sub once...
Okay I was on the fence about getting into BattleTech, but now I really want to get into BattleTech.
If Comstar found out one of the Great Houses had this, my God... The balance of power could be shattered forever!
Delightfully cursed. God I love this franchise.
It's like they found an old Terran data storage center...of bad ideas.
I can fix her, bros...
I am the foremost expert in submersible combat in battletech
The Seabass is a terrible idea
The name of that thing makes me think of the old classic SNL 'bass-o-matic' skit from the 1970s. "Mmm that's great bass!" :D
Hay GI Joe had the S.H.A.R.K. Flying submarine also anything can become a submarine once
I find that a logical statement.
Looks like somebody found an old Terran data core with a copy of Jules Verne's, "The Master Of The World" and tried to build the 'Terror.'
Mage, you now know something cursed to bring into a twist of the knife🤣
I just hope he gets the thing FINISHED.
I am definitely gonna model this affront to to nature.
Guy took a look at the IJN I-400s and said "lol I can do better"
to be honest ... the technical readout boondoggles where this is from, is one hell of a the biggest fails besides the Baron compilation

@@mageleader3699 b-but think of the deployment and response time T_T
Dr Christmas approved.
A mix of old Jules Verne books, blarney, booze and blow.
A submersible seaplane.... ya that can go poorly
Its honestly really cool, but if it had a ppc instead of the medium laser, it would be way better.
There's nothing that can't be made better by slapping some variety of ppc on it.
"what is it for?" well if you get shot down you can continue the fight from underwater! :D
I has 2 nose turrets but only 1 medium laser between them
Makes me wonder if anyone has used actual subs in BattleTech and if so how effective they were.
They have, and to great effect.
@@mageleader3699 good to know! Thanks much!

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.
Suddenly Urbie isn't a joke.
Yes but can you control it with a game controller? 😂
Someone made a mini of it - you can have the craft, OR you can have a version of it crashed into the bottom of the ocean
One of “Q”s,of 007 fame, lesser known projects.
The only thing I can think of is it would be a scout of some type. Though not surprised it didn't work out. A lot of things could go wrong.
I can't Believe it didn't work it has a Safety factor of 7.
Please tell me Ironwinds made a model of the seabass.
Still a more reliable vehicle than the Super Earth "heavily armoured" Patriot walker.

Pffft, what *wouldn't* you use it for?
Extremely cursed.
Flying... Submarine-- WHY

And
I need to fix it and make it workable
