I got to watch him during his career, I can tell you this, he was the closest thing to being unblockable as you could get and he was double teamed on almost every play. He was an amazing athlete for a man his size and frankly is the reason DT's are used the way they are today. He was a pleasure to watch, even if he wasn't on your team.
the determination of Walter Payton , the strength of Jackie Slater , and the heart of Reggie White , 3rd overall pick in the 1990 draft to HoF in 2012 , one of the Greats on and off the field , RIP Mr Cortez Kennedy .
This was a MAN! He never got to play on a winning team, but was a Seahawk all the way. The new guys took the old with them and it breaks my heart to think of him dead at such a young age. Bless his family with comfort.
I remember that in the 1992 NFL season when Cortez Kennedy won Defensive Player of the Year award on a 2-14 team and he was a beast on a bad team but RIP Cortez Kennedy and this is coming from a Cowboys fan.
Dude did all of this from the DT position what a monster and a legend. The two great defensive legends of the 90s in the AFC West are gone today in Derrick Thomas (Chiefs) and Cortez Kennedy.
@@ericsigersmith6067 I mean I was referring to just the deceased DTs that played in the AFC West during that era. Kevin Greene is still living and he never played for an AFC West franchise. He played for the Rams, Steelers, Panthers, and finished his career I believe with the 49ers.
RIP Cortez. You were a huge disrupting force for my Hawks. It is so sad that this, and this is speculation in my part, could be another recurring concussions issue that nobody knew about. My heart goes out to his family and friends. You are already missed sir.
The 92 seahawks were such an anomaly. They had a top 5 defense, DPOY Cortéz Kennedy, and an 1,000 yard rusher with over 4.5 yards per carry; but they finished 2-14 because of the worst scoring offense (140 total points) in a 16 game season (For comparison, 16 of the 27 other teams that season scored double of Seattle and all but 2-14 New England scored at least 100 more than the Seahawks). Also, RIP Cortéz
That right there's my favorite defensive lineman in history. To be honest in the late 80s to '90s the only reason anybody pay attention to Seattle was because Cortez Kennedy.
Damn. He got QB Eagles twice in the same game as a DT??? RIP Tez...The way these stories have been coming out, I wish I knew more about him as a person before all of this.
My favorite Seahawk of all time! Still has the record for eating the most expensive hot dog in the world! lmfao I still remember him and Sam Adams with Chad Brown would be terrors on defense.... R.I.P. Cortez..... smh.... damn
You hear people talk about Aaron Donald, JJ Watt and Warren Sapp. I'm always shocked at how few people remember 'Tez. One the best all time, definitely needs to be mentioned with those names.
Been listening to Hugh Millen on local sports radio here in Seattle for years. For some reason, it's hilarious to me watching him get terrorized by 'Tez.
Luke Stapleton His reason of death is still under investigation, and hasn't been publically announced at all. Thanks for your unproven clinical anyalysis.
Tom Brady Shady #WOAT#CryBaby#StillCheating Wrong, been a season ticket holder since 1990, I've lived in Mass my whole life, been a Pats fan for 40+ years,so eat the 5 rings!!! Brady GOAT!!! Period end of story!!!
Jesus you have the saddest username of all time. Get a life dude. Focusing your life on hating a football player is just sad. It's just a game. Not a Patriots fan either just think you're a sad man who has dedicated his life to insulting a great player that you are probably is envious of.
"He'll be better tomorrow, but he is already the best today" RIP
now he's with his friend and his mentor, Jerome Brown. R. I. P Cortez Kennedy! My condolences to his family and loved ones.
RIP Cortez Kennedy. We will miss you, you bad man

I saw him play when I was really young. I remember thinking how is it possible for a man that big to move that quickly.
RIP Cortez Kennedy! The most underrated defensive tackle of all time! He will be missed! :(

Just picked up a Tez jersey from this season, such a dominant performance. RIP

One of my favorite players during the 90s.
Defensive POY on a 2 -14 team....You know he was putting in WORK!
I saw him play... great great player underrated
Cortez was the best defensive lineman rest in peace 🙏
A monster. In the best way possible. Class player. True pro.
Defensive player of the year, on a 2 win team. RIP Cortez Kennedy and jerome brown
Played on some very sorry Seattle teams, it sucks he was never able to see any of the great seasons that happened right after he retired.
He should've hit free agency after his rookie contract
rip cortez kennedy, i live in seattle...go hawks...rip ck
RIP - we love you
Seahawks bringing back 92'Cortez Kennedy memories 👍

"Q.B Eagles," (LOL!) Tecmo Super Bowl!
The Seahawks D sacked Cunningham 10 times that day. They lost in OT.
RIP Cortez Kennedy and Jerome Brown #99

samoan4251 I know it’s a little late could you elaborate I’m his daughter and would love to know this story!
He was so young

The original warren Sapp, his surge off the line was unbelievable.

He was a franchise cornerstone for the Seattle Seahawks.
Wish I could of watched him play
RIP Tez

Vamos Seahawks...
RIP Cortez Kennedy
RIP CORTEZ U DIED REALLY YOUNG
man died at the age of 42
He was 48 but still way too young
I 💡 he had 18.5 sacks that year
bad bad man
Loved the 90’s
And I’m a seahawk fan
I think Tez won his DPOY on a 3-12? Team
RIP
Whose here after Brandon's (Hawks Nest) video?
Let’s go Arkansas
DEAR GOD GIVE US BACK CORTEZ KENNEDY AND WILL GIVE U TED NUGENT !!!
Cortes Kennedy...
Tez for Prez!!!
Jimberlin & Tez could've carried Washington State in the 1992 presidential election if he ran.
they should've updated the music tho
He was good but I feel I was better and deserved DPOY honors more.
"Seahawk football"
go hawks!!!!!
Who’s the narrator?
The defense was the lone bright spot on that 1992 squad. The offense was garbage.
😪
i have his trading card with me RIP

Sad to say it's CTE or repeated brain trauma that killed this great man
How do you know?
Luke Stapleton His reason of death is still under investigation, and hasn't been publically announced at all. Thanks for your unproven clinical anyalysis.
Luke Stapleton natural causes
