One of the best use of black and white cinematography ever put on film. The shadows and all the hidden faces reenforces the darkness of this world. The way Guru Dutt is standing and every gesture shows him as a loner, an amoral guy who lives in the grey world and doesn’t trust anyone. And of course the song itself is warning of dangerous world around them. It’s a masterpiece of noir film making.

@@lazyartist1327 Dev Anand and Guru Dutt movies Jaal, Baazi, Taxi Drivers, Kala Bazar in the 50’ were each a masterpiece of the what the French called movie noirs. Dark movies about amoral characters caught in a world with no way out of their dark destiny. Most of these movies were inspired by Dastyofsky, and the French existentialism. They were very well made intelligent movies, unlike the garbage the likes of Karan Johar are churning out.
Thanks for the the interpretation. These days probably the audience is also restless and do not care about enjoying or understanding the details. Result is some directors who are honest towards their art, are hesitant about making good movies.

what an observation... on top of that I noticed the acting quality of the extras is way superior than today's main actors. All of them gave simple but not over or under expressions. Loved everything about this music video.

هده الاغنية سبب روعتها لا يعود للكاتب او الشاعر او الملحن او الرقصة لالالالالالا ولكن السبب راجع الى الخلاق التي كان يتمتع بها الفنان بصفة عامة انى داك لا يهمهم المال والشهرة بل كان كل همهم هو التميز الأخلاقي
This song is just my favorite choreographed song ever. Every line, every gesture hints at something. And the way she falls in the start indicates she is literally a fallen woman and they way she dances her way up conveys her struggle to save herself from this dark and danger world she has fallen into. You don’t need thousands of extras and matching gyration to have a great choreography, Guru Dutt conveys the complete character in the dance. Everything we need to know about these characters is there. This is so brilliant. It’s my all time favorite choreographed song. Guru Dutt was a genius in conveying the character through simple gestures , movements. and through shadows and lighting. Raj Khosla, Vijay Anand and Chetan Anand as well but Guru Dutt’s work is spectacular!

Just notice she falls to the floor in first shot and then slowly lifts her head from darkness to light describing her status in life as fallen woman and how she struggles to lift herself out of this darkness, she has a sardonic smile and wild sadness in her eyes as she delivers her killer opening lines. Love love respect from Pakistan for this genius song.
