I’m a dental hygienist student and I can tell you that this video is very informative and like she said we are so thankful to have an assistant help with this periodontal charting :)!
I’m an assistant at a Periodontal office and measurements for PD go from 1-12. Usually if it’s past a 9 they end up loosing the tooth shortly, but we take every effort to save them before placing implants.
CAL means Clinical attachment level/loss. It’s the probing depth (from gingival margin to base of pocket) plus/minus the measurement of the gingival tissue (from gingival margin to the CEJ) depending on enlargement or recession of gingival tissue. It’s supposed to tell you how much attachment loss the patient has from CEJ to the base of pocket. This video is great though!
Watini Evans I’m only 6 weeks into my 11 week program and we (the students) start off on the front desk then work with the hygienist then the doctor side for the remaining 5 weeks. So far it has been easy, cleaning rooms, doing periodontal prob charting and watching X-Rays. I will say the hygienist are kinda use to working on their own so you mostly watch and observe. Hope this helps!
You're amazing! Thank you for always sharing the best informative videos. I moved offices and I'm doing more charting than I ever have before! Glad I could watch this.
I have a question for you if you go for an interview and they ask you why did you become a dental assistant what should you tell them well I had an interview and I told them why I wanted to be a dental assistant and for some reason my answer wasn't good enough🤷♀️
You like to help people is probably gonna be your best answer. Good luck! Make sure you like what you do and know why you're doing it before you go into interviews :)
You made this just in time! We are just getting into the chapter about perio! Thanks Chey!
