I prayed for the intercession of St. Philomena for a granddaughter for about a year. Unexpectedly, I was handed a picture (ultrasound) around Christmas of a grandchild coming. Not planned! Nine months later, I have a healthy little granddaughter. My granddaughter is now over a year old! Thank you, St. Philomena.
I was drawn to her by a nun who introduced her to me years ago at Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine in Euclid.

@@seansean7643 Thank you for your kind words. When he was three years old he helped carry our Lady of Fatima statue in the yearly Rosary procession. He and I were very close. When he first started to get sick he lived out west and I in the east. He moved back home and said his friends thought it was best to send him back to the factory to get him checked out. Then we found out he had terminal brain cancer. He always laughed and kept positive.

Two angels saved me from drowning as well when I was a kid.
My little brother was drowning as well and I went in after him, I was too young to realize he would push me under, the moment I decided to let him use me as a step rather than swim down and up, they appeared, my lungs were instantly filled with a breath and I had no need for air at all. Then an adult noticed my brother and I slowly floated up from under him.
They hadn’t even noticed me under there, I saw the angels arms holding me in the water from below me pushing and holding us up.
@3k3u3 That’s so interesting! I had a similar experience as a kid. I was in a giant floatee with my mom at a beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. A massive wave came and fell on us and in a bunch of other people. I remember getting thrust around and thrown onto the bottom of the sand and feeling like a bunch of water was being dumped on me. Then the water started dragging me into the ocean, so I dug my fingers in the sand while getting dragged. Meanwhile, I had been breathing the WHOLE time! I took a giant breath of air when I was initially under the water… I ended up swallowing water when a hand grabbed the back of my swimsuit and picked me up (my mom). It was awful but I somehow took breaths of air. I didn’t see anything, but it was so obviously God.
Wow,.. that is indeed divine intervention. Thanks to those sweet Angels.

First time commenter here but I cannot help but to share my family’s miracle from the little miracle worker, St. Philomena. Almost two years ago I was watching a multitude of saint videos when I suddenly became very drawn to St. Philomena over the other dozens of other saint stories. I began researching her feast day and realized it was August 11th, approximately 10 months from that time. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year at that point and suddenly I became very confident I was going to conceive this next month after numerous months of heartbreaking negative pregnancy tests. Fast forward a month, and I found out we were pregnant with our first child on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and our due date was August 12th… just one day from St. Philomena’s feast day! I knew my little friend in heaven put in a good word for my husband and I. Our beautiful baby girl was born a few days late on the Feast of the Assumption. St. Philomena and our holy Mother are written all over the blessing our first child. St. Philomena and Mother Mary pray for us!!

My mother Grace Mary Keenan Jenkins had a devotion to St Philomena over the years , had the waist and wrist cords, which I also had but I often neglected to wear, and had the holy cards with her prayer that she said daily when well enough. She had blessed oil called St. Philomena oil for annointing herself and me and she said a dedicated decade meditating on one Mystery, the Nativity everyday, and the other mysteries were assigned to other people over all the world. to complete the rosary. This apostolate is called "The Universal Living Rosary Association," Dickinson, TX, who has St Philomena as patron and Pauline-Marie Jaricot as Foundress of the Propagation of the Faith and the Living Rosary. I greatly enjoyed this presentation and wished mom could have heard it. She died on May 23, 2024 and ask this community to pray for her repose. We prayed the rosary with Fr Chris's Rosary CD daily until about two weeks prior to her death and it became our pleasant daily practice. Thank you Fr Chris for this and all your Seminary teachings that we loved to watch/hear. God Bless you, your ministry and your family.

I am viewing this on 8/12/2024. When I heard Fr. Alar say the day and time of St. Philomena’s martyrdom it gave me chills. My Mother died Friday, 8/10/2001 at 3:00 PM. Same day of the week, same date and same time. God is good and has sent me a message.

St. Philomena has greater power than other saints, because she died for Christ many times, not just once (as others). She was miracuously healed every time and did it again. That gives her greater power in Christ and I say, that she is an "atomic bomb" among other saints. I visited Mungano del Cardinale and her grave a few years ago and pray to her every day since. Fr. Chris, thank you so much for this talk.

Philomena answered my prayer INSTANTLY. It was so amazing that we travelled to her shrine in Mugnano Italy to thank her in person in 2005. My story is written in the book there. She truly is "Powerful with God." Do not doubt it.

I hope another comment is permitted. We had a Shrine of St Philomena at Pantasaph in North Wales. The Mother of a convent looking after orphans wanted a painting of St Philomena but she would not let the Franciscan priest monk paint it on a picture but only straight on the wall. He had painted a ray of light coming through a window and falling on St Philomena. He was at the 5am Mass in the monastery when he heard a child's voice speak. He turned round to tell her be be quiet during Mass. But saw no one. The voice came again saying, "The light that fell on me did not come through the window, it came from heaven." Stunned he realized it was St Philomena. He painted out the window. It was recognized as a shrine as according to canon Law if a devotion continues unbroken for 40 years it is verified as a shrine. The local Bishop did not want it as a shrine. In time after the nun who looked after a painting which was made as a copy of the one on the wall and kept a candle burning continuously before it for many years in her convent next to the orphanage, she died. The orphanage convent buildings were sold and made into house but the builders had taken down each stone and stored them all together in the care of another young man. So they are in a crate somewhere in a field in North Wales and the young man has moved away so we do not know what became of them.The franciscans also have recently left due to low numbers and Vincentians have taken over the friary. So all we have left is the fact that St Philomena actually spoke in that friary church.

Fr. Chris Alar, you solved the mystery in my prayer supplication with regard to St. Filumina. Every time I pleaded to Our Lady of sorrows for the conversion of sinners here, I also called on all the martyrs in heaven for help. As soon as I mentioned St. John the Baptist, St. Filumina's name came out next in my invocation of martyrs. I corrected myself and said, "sorry, she is not a martyr." And every time I did this prayer, calling on the martyrs for help, St. Filumina's name came out of my lips immediately after I mentioned the name of St. John the Baptist. Then I would say again to her, "No, you are not a martyr, sorry." And it kept on and on like this everyday. So finally I said to her, " Ok you want me to call you first, all right." Thank you, Lord God, for your chosen priest, Fr. Chris Alar, in helping us understand the Truth about the Faith. St. Filumina pray for us. Now I proclaim, St. Filumina, virgin-martyr pray for us. You can get the Novena Cards at Tan Books for much lesser price when you get them in packs. That way you may share them to others who might need her intercession and ultimately spread her devotion. That’s what I did 13 years ago or so. If you’d like I can send you a picture of the Novena Prayer to your email. Just let me know.

I actually do think Father Chris Alar does have the power of healing! I don’t know how this channel found me, perhaps bcuz sometimes I like listening to Gregorian chants.. but I could seriously listen to Fr. Chris Alar sermons all day any day. He is calming yet stimulating. I’m not even sure what faith I belong to bcuz in general I just love all religious discussions. My Dad is Catholic ( I was baptized & given a Saint middle name, Linda Mary) my mom is Buddhist & I often went to temples with her. During my teen years, I joined AWANAS Christian youth group. I tune in on Saturdays & Sundays to hear Father Chris Alar’s perspective. His thoughts, sermons, & prayers are soul healing us all from afar. Our family has worn out many St. Philomena cords! One daughter took her name for Confirmation. I also love the story of transporting her relics and the reliquary box kept forcing its way out from under the carriage seat until they all knelt down and prayed the rest of the way!

Although Saint Philomena is little known , (compared with the apostles, all the Teresa’s, etc) , she is definitely a powerhouse of intercession and grace. I am glad you remind listeners to like and subscribe and I think it is fantastic that the Divine Mercy channel has almost 1/2 million subscribers and I’m so grateful to be one of them. We all need to share these lessons too.

My husband and I were up late speaking last night about our wish for more children. I have low thyroid disease and difficulty to conceive. We’ve been praying since our son was 1, he is 4. We married later in life so not so young. I think this is a sign to pray to Saint philomena. If she helps us, we would name our child after her.

Absolutely true! I knew nothing about Divine Mercy when it suddenly popped out in my newsfeed. That's when I watched Fr Chris' talks that I immediately shared as well. Now back to confession after 25+ years, praying rosary everyday and praying the 3 o'clock chaplet of divine mercy 🙏
