I totally agree! I don’t like the year printed on the cover because it takes away from the aesthetics of the planner. I also like to reuse my covers. Happy planner stop printing the year on the covers.😊
Agreed!!!! or at least make the inside of the back, cover the same pattern but without the year. That way we can always use the back cover as the front when we reuse it, at least :)
It's great to have you back! I think the whole planner world has has a lot of changes since you last posted. I have moved into digital planning right but with an app that connects to my Google calendar so i don't have to write everything in. I'm experimenting with other digital planners that don't link and are closer to paper but haven't found a good annotation/notes app yet for Android. Digital is nice because i have the flexibility I loved with the discs on happy planner, but it's more portable and searchable.
I've been lurking around the community and have observed that lots has changed. I still just love the paper, but I am so glad to hear that you have found something that is working so well for you. Thank you so much for being back here with me.
I just came back to my HP. I bullet journaled for a while, and then I got an Inspired EC planner from Joann, but I'm back to my good old dashboard. I think my aesthetic has changed and I'm not into the bright colors anymore, but the flexibility of the discs is UNMATCHED.
I can’t wait to get back into dashboard too! I’ve been doing the vertical thing this year and it just doesn’t motivate me although it’s fun to decorate. There weren’t any good dashboard ones4 of January release and unfortunately I’m almost finding the same thing with the July start ones Since the two things I cannot tolerate are either Disney or flowers. Anything else is OK as long as the pages are neutral. So it is either the Amazon release ones OR the Ink and Arbor one (which has a few flowers but mostly all black and white, I think I can live with it lol :)
I’m still using mostly Happy Planner, but considering Kell Of A Plan for next year. I’m using her undated dashboard layout inserts (one sheet) in the middle of my vertical week and really enjoying doing that. I’ll probably get a dated one for sure to use next year but unsure what vertical I’ll be using for my catch all.
I agree about the paper of the Happy Planner Planners. I have been using 2 of the Kell of a Plan Planners this year and loving them.. I do have one planner from the Happy Planner too and I can really tell the difference. As far as covers I have been getting the Notebooks on good sales and using them for a change of covers. There are a lot of Shops that are offering dividers too. Another thing that I am liking about the KOP planners is that the dividers are double sided so you can flip them over or use them again another year.
It really is a noticeable difference. I would even pay more for nicer paper in my happy planner. Like maybe they could add metal discs and lux paper to the deluxe planners. That would be amazing.
I am fairly new to this way of planning but what drew me in was the versatility of the disc system. I do love some of what EC has to offer, like the daily duo, but I don’t think I can go with a coil system after experiencing the freedom of the disc system. I am also a junk journal’er and I am fairly certain I could take apart an EC planner and customize it for discs. But this will be a whole lot of work and I am not convinced yet that the HP paper annoys me to the point that it is time to put in that much work. At that point I may as well design my own and really create something that works for me 💯, including the paper, if that makes sense? None of this paper will go to waste, junk journal’ers buy HP journals on discount just for the paper. Or they have in the past, not sure about this new HP paper. Of course when you take paint and tape and coffee and tea and dyes and glue and do all kinds of things with it, as long as it stands up to that, I don’t think the junk journal’ers will notice? Anyway, I cannot move away from the disc system so not sure what is going to happen? Surely HP knows people are not happy with the quality of their most recent paper?! 🤔 There are options out there but HP does have a large part of the market currently that they may be in danger of losing if they don’t up the quality of the paper? These things tend to happen when you think you have the market cornered and people won’t leave you? Just some of my new, but not new to paper, thoughts? Thanks! 🙏 💕
I’m not sure if the paper is a choice or if it’s just what they’re using and they don’t realize that planner folks love good paper. I do love discs but there’s also a ton of flexibility with the coil these days. The covers snap on and off and there are lots of snap in accessories. I think I may pick up some different brands and just share them here and then decide in July. But I can tell you I will always have at least one happy planner in my lineup.
@@CreatinginChaos this is all true from you. Being new to HP it seemed like people were saying there was a noticeable paper change and recently too? I am actually more familiar with EC, I have never had one but my daughter tried one of their teacher planners. I love EttaVee which is another reason I am drawn to EC. The snap ins are cool. I have invested so much in HP over the last 8 months so I probably won’t be branching out for 2025. In fact I saw the plaid one from Amazon you used for the video and I gotta have it. 😂 I just love planners and notebooks and all things paper and always have? Sigh 😔 I hope you had a great time at Go Wild! I will be looking for your videos! 💕
@@terrilabeth it’s hard to pinpoint when exactly the paper changed but this release is truly terrible! I also am bummed that there’s no true seasonal planner this time around.
@@CreatinginChaos good find! Yes, I’m finding some of them appear to be exclusively on Amazon this time around (like the Rio vibes dashboard)…. Well, supposedly they have it at office max but I haven’t seen it there in person yet lol.

For the last two years, I have settled for HP planners instead of being excited about their selection. And what has happened to planners with metal disks? I am a loyal customer, but I won't be buying from HP next year if I don't love a design -- no more settling for a planner.
I really hope they come through with something beautiful this summer or during the 12 month release in the fall. I'm a bit nervous to try something new.
I was shocked by how flimsy the HP dividers and papers are with this release. Very disappointing since I use HP for memory keeping. I bought a spring release notebook because I liked the custom page layout. I’m going to have to use my stash if I use HP for memory keeping because the paper quality is disappointing. I already can’t use it for stamping, which is something I really love doing.
@@CreatinginChaos do you mind my asking whether you found that to be true with all of them, or just the Amazon release? The reason I’m asking is because the Amazon 12 month release one of them has a single star review talking specifically about how bad the paper is… and I’m curious to see if it’s all of them or just the Amazon release ones (I remember the paper quality taking a big downturn about three years ago also).
