Exactly, now the thing to do is be a proper grandma and fed all the grandkids ton of sweets (or raccoon equivalent of that) before sending them home lol 😂
I have rescued rehabilitated and release over 15 baby raccoons! And a few of them still come around to see me years later. They are absolute amazing creatures and I still had the most amazing videos and photos of how smart and loyal and loving they really are
Aww, you're a grandma! Shows Mabel truly sees you as her mother, and I'm glad one of her litter survived. Hope the others survived and got a home/territory of their own

This is a beautiful story and thanks for stepping in and helping. I hope the raccoons can discern between who might be a danger and who is not. Also, I would like to see humans and animals co-exist together in a way that we do not harm them but help them when in trouble and just be respectful of their life because their life matters too!
Juvenile raccoons, like human kids, just can't wait to get out. But, if they were raised LOVINGLY, they usually return for food, help, and (yes) even your company. Especially once they have babies of their own! I speak from experience.
Sometimes I forget how many humans are amazing beings, then I watch a bunch of your videos and I'm reminded of what the human soul is capable of. Thanks for your work!
I love that Mabel came home to have her babies, where she knew she was safe. And then bringing Daisy back for snacks shows this is that safe and cozy place they will always return to. I'm grateful they were allowed to leave to be raccoons and not kept indoors as pets. I know it had to be tempting to have those amazing, little creatures always around. But they belong in the wild to be raccoons, and they belong at home for snacks and love. Best of both worlds. I hope to see grandbaby raccoons on a The Dodo video soon!
Oh my goodness! This is just absolutely beautiful too watch. How amazing that she had her babies; and even though she was free in the wild, she still came back with one of her babies, to enjoy a snack, a warm space, etc. I wish every animal would have this, a kind of a BACKUP plan and a safe place with food. Truly amazing. 🦝🦝🦝❤️❤️❤️
That's a perfect situation for a wild animal. To be able to be free, yet have somewhere they know to be safe and welcoming, especially when babies are involved. That lady must have a huge heart, because wild animals, when they're rehabilitated well (and it certainly seems that way given the others' normal disappearance), they don't usually return to the human territory. But they know when they are with good people, and sometimes that allows them to trust the one who cared so well other for them. It's the biggest compliment nature can pay to you, IMHO.
Check out Racoon Whisperer on RUclips His come back for years, then they vanish, nature tells them to move on. But he loves them and they trust him, he feeds them by hand. Ive raised many a racoon, wonderful critters, and so trusting after a while.

I found a raccoon that had either been hit by a car or in a fight & his side was all split open and his leg was limping. I called wildlife but they never returned my call. So since this raccoon was out during the day I knew he wasn’t rabid he was just desperately looking for food. I continue to give him food and water & Little by little he did get better and healed up. I can never resist feeling anything but my neighbors don’t like it, so unfortunately I have to contain myself. I would even feed wild fox & they were very gentle. It’s sad that we’re taking away all their habitat. 😪

Oh my gosh just so cool that they kept coming back like that. Thanks for sharing their story it's so precious.... Well for the past week I've been seeing a very large raccoon coming in my garage to eat the cat food. So I started putting all the cat food up he doesn't seem threatening at all. I mean I can tell him to leave and he will. But I'm very scared of him but he is just so big and beautiful. And yet just like clockwork he's there every morning trying to get into the garage... I have no experience with raccoons and I really don't know what to do because I'm afraid somebody will hurt him so any advice I can get on what to do with him would be very much appreciated.
Every once in a while (not often) a racoon will come by to eat the leftover cat food outside (where we live, it's okay to feed feral cats). We live in suburban southern CA--it's NOT okay to feed racoons in parts of southern CA (like Los Angeles)--not sure about our area, but we don't deliberately feed the racoons. We have noticed that (very infrequently) a racoon will dig in our flower beds, and wash in the birdbaths, but that's maybe once or twice a year. There are also coyotes in our area, and maybe they keep the racoons away? You should keep your garage door closed--racoons can cause damage if they get into your garage or attic/crawlspace.
WOW! She came HOME to have her babies! You did a FANTASTIC job! Really beautiful creatures. I have a huge male that lives in a Cedar tree in my back yard. I love seeing families of them at night. Thank you for sharing these delightful critters!
Great job. I raised a raccoon 30 yrs ago. Found him in a hollowed out log when he was 1 month old. Kept coming back monthly for 6 yrs. Then he just stopped. Always wonder what happened. At least he had a chance at life. Would do it again. Nature needs help sometimes. People say don't interfere with wild animals, but I feel we humans make them have a tough life by deforestation. Love your posts. Keep being you .❤️❤️❤️❤️
Six years is a very long life for a raccoon in the wild. Living about twice as long as he "should" have done is probably down to the care you gave him when young and the little extras he got from you throughout his life. Transforming the entire life of a free wild animal is a great achievement. If jealousy was fatal I would now be dead.
You are such a beautiful person! Thank you for taking care of these amazing creatures! Every year a wounded mama raccoon shows up outside our house with her babies. We can't take them in but we always feed them until they can go off on their own. Can't imagine how incredible it must be to literally be their mom and raise them! I admire you very much for all you did for Mabel and her babies. :)

Thank you for being so compassionately loving to those sweet babies. Just when I've lost all hope and faith in humanity you come and restore a glimmer of hope. Your caring for those beautiful little babies gives me inspiration in this crazy messed up world.
Yup. This happened to me. Except…. The two we released would break into our house, steal food, break eggs all over the floor… destroy our fridge and house and the sleep in our drawers. Bahahaha. Honestly. I wasn’t even mad. But my brothers were. So we ended up setting up an area outside for them and feeding them to keep them from going inside. It worked. Once they fully matured and started having babies and stuff. They stopped coming around as much. They still lived in our garage but they became way more independent once they weren’t interested to come inside or be around humans. Lol. I learned my lesson on how to handle raising orphaned wild animals after that. (My brothers and I were 10,14,16 at the time)
This makes me very happy to see because I have a similar situation. The first year I came to Texas they had a very bad snow storm. During that storm I met Raku. She was young and on the thin side so I fed her. Each day she came back and we have been doing this for going on three years now. She is very healthy now and had one baby which I named Raisin. Once Raisin became an adult he went off on his own but Raku still spends time here and gets nutritious food when she needs it.

You must be feeling so proud you obviously did a great job... Thank you
this is like the relationship i want with animals, simi independent but close friends
I love good people like her so much. reminds me a little bit of the racoon whisperer from Canada - this guy is also great 🦝🦝🦝
I loved this!! They found a great person to raise them up so well. 💗
Raccoons are lovely !!! 💖💖💖. Thank you Whitney for fostering and caring them so good 🙏🌷
I have had a mama raccoon for 14 yrs bring me her new kids ...she was a very gentle animal. I have been feeding raccoons in my back yard for about 20 years...they come nightly for food...very beautiful creatures. I would buy 40 lb bags of dog food which they love and it's fun to hear them all crunching away.
That's not true, because raccons only live about 2-3 years.. But say what you wanna say.
@@crystalmccraw8268 I beg to disagree...this one did...
@@roseangela2797 Alright, Im fine with that.
@@crystalmccraw8268 Thank you..this mama was unbelievable..she was well fed and so was each litter that she had... God Bless.
@@roseangela2797 God Bless you too!

What an honour to be a safe spot when needed
Thank you for your kindness and very smart way to help the raccoons! They are adorable! I'm so glad they continue to visit you.
Oh this is so adorable! This makes me miss the raccoon I took care of for years and I named her Roxy and she had two litters of cubs. When we moved of course she stayed behind in her habitat. I'm worried about her. She's so precious and these are as well and God bless you for taking care of them! They are really cool creatures!
With Mabel being so young with her first litter - you were the perfect MOST SAFEST place ever for this to happen. You are definately family!!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful story.
