Energy-Saving Floor Insulation | This Old House

Thanks for demonstrating one of the challenges to building affordable housing
Five million yards of foam and concrete are no doubt just brilliant for the environment
Great point. Ends up in the trash.
Very nice
so what happens to the concrete floor when the foam decays?
That kind of foam doesn't decay unless it's in sunlight.
Ahhh plastic… basically permanent.
Hope his basement never leaks
I was thinking the same! But then they say there's "no basement, no attic"
amazing amount of money just to put duct work an insulation in a house. probably wont even break even in 50 yrs
It's about comfort (dry, warm basement) nothing to do with cost.
@@ssl3546 No basement, ground level.
@@ssl3546 what basement? This house is on a slab of concrete.
Not to mention the thermal loss by having ductwork under grade and exposed to unprotected ground on the bottom side.
I love low HERS rated buildings
Need an episode with fire resistance housing.
Reason I really don't watch This Old House is because it's only for people with endless bank accounts to do crap like this. If they really want to be more energy efficient, live in a smaller house.
Yet here you are.
That's all TOH has been about for years, a infomercial for the latest technology. Probably one main reason they don't describe budgets on air anymore. Used to be they'd talk about the budget snd how close they were at the last episode. Now they don't even.mntion it.
These home owners have a bank account balance that surpasses their iq by an infinite factor
Wow. If I had quintillions of dollars I would probably would splurge on insulation too.
Or they're trying to meet RIDICULOUS HUD or EPA standards.
It's crazy that they put those regulations for houses in when we've got a huge housing shortfall. I'm all for energy efficiency, I'm a building science nerd, but people need new affordable houses
holy cow. do these people live in alaska and Antarctica ? well the floor will be nice and warm. but youll be at your job 24/7 trying to pay for all this crap thats just going to be pulled up 20 years from now. 🤷🏻♂️
I believe they said Lexington and since Charlie Silva was there I'd say that's Lexington MA.
at a buffet, i personally sneak corndogs into the buffet so others can enjoy them. I hide 6 corndogs in my jacket pockets. it then, is a joy for me to see other patrons of the establishment eat my corndogs thinking they were part of the buffet.
Looser troll.
You sure you put them in your pockets ? I herd some one found a pubic hair on one !!! Ask Bob he knows
@@elainerussell924 thats odd, usually they go in my pockets unless it was a tough week and i was running late due to buffet dinner rush!
@RyanCoomer bobs pissed
Ok then. That's one way to do it - an unexpected and rather expensive way.
"How to spend as much money as you possibly can on your own remodeling project"
Ther HERS rating is what makes housing more expensive then they need to be.
Save on utility bills but pay out the backside up front.
who pours concrete over sprayfoam?!? wtf...
Look at how new garage slabs are insulated underneath - rigid foam taped together or closed cell 2" like this. Both work great and in this case with the floor heat it makes plenty of sense.
Retiring this year, $82K biweekly, this video reminds me of my life in 2023, you have really inspired me in so many ways!!!!!💜
I'm feeling motivated,
could you share some details about the biweekly topic you brought up?
I raised $75k and Claudia Ann Brandon is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Claudia A Brandon is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!
Oh yea! Thanks dude, been looking on way to get her contact. I’m happy i came across this now .
This is the kind of information that we don't get from most RUclipsrs I will get in touch with her right now
How can I get in touch with this Mrs. Claudia Ann Brandon?
This has to be a joke, they buried forced air heating ducts literally in the dirt. This is the dumbest thing on the internet (today).
👍🇨🇦💯❤️

I bet if they installed a heat pump, they would be more energy efficient than all this mess. But we only see a 3 minute clip, not the full story.
