Piscator Flies yeah lately I’ve been doing good using a black wooly bugger for bass and pike, I even managed to catch 2 walleye off the dock on a wooly bugger and I’ve never even caught one off the dock using conventional stuff. The bay we are in has a lot of leaches so usually the fish come in to feed at night and when we fillet them they usually have a lot of leaches in them.
They say leeches are like dessert for fish. They can be pretty aggressive on the take. I love catching walleye and pike on the fly as well. Lots of fun. Cheers
Piscator Flies yeah, walleye are fun to catch on the fly just because it’s kinda unusual to get them on the fly for me but other than that, they usually come in like a wet sock compared to a bass or pike or any type of trout the equivalent size. But when it’s all said and done catching any fish is fun no matter how you do it.
Chimo Darren, nice ESL. I really like the one in the intro photo, looks much more full bodied. Hey my old friend the cut down toothbrush! Mine retired but it's got a lot of friends ;-) Here's some stuff if you're doing fly reels anymore - I was watching wherewisemenfish and they had a video of Hakan Norling tying his original Templedog. So I googled him and found an explanation of what Templedog hair really is on speypages. Someone posted that he watched Hakan tie at a German show and he said that the hair was any fine straight hair from a dead dog. You can imagine all the comments. I've read a few things about what the hair could be and it always stirs up controversy. Whatever the material is or whatever hair you choose to use it's a productive style and not too complicated. Then I saw a post by Bob Reece on Gink and Gasoline (🔥 love their name and logo ) I think it was on using foam. So he has a channel on RUclips and I watched a few videos. He designs and ties some awesome flies. It's the first I've heard of either tyer. Hey did you do a garden this year? We did but in planters. Zucs did well, even ate some flowers. Cherry tomatoes crapped out. One beefsteak plant produced and they're awesome! Even when the tops are still green they're delicious and sweet! Red bell peppers are good too. Well that's all I got. I see Noah floating by, gotta catch a ride to the supermarket! Cheers 👍😎🍅🍅
Chimo, Joe. No veggie garden this year. I didn't have a reliable watering available, so I just did the perennial stuff. I'm missing the fresh tomatoes, but we have some good farmers markets around. Bob Reese has been making an impact this last little while with videos and articles. He writes a little bit for Fly Fusion as well. I remember the discussions about the temple dog hair. I have a few patches, but won't be adding any more. Fox works pretty well for that purpose and if you need a little more length, the cashmere goat and Icelandic sheep hair will cover you. There is a seller on ebay from Iceland who sells a good variety of colors of the sheep hair and perhaps pony hair. I haven't tried it out, but Steve Silverio (sp?) has used it in some of his creations in the past. The first fly had a little more time spent brushing it out. It makes a difference. :) Cheers
Sweet tie
Andrei Bogdan, Thanks for stopping in and watching, much appreciated!
This is one of my favorite patterns to fish for steelhead!
Thanks Jim. I've tied a few extras to try out this fall.
Hi Darren, enjoyed another tie!
Thanks Jody, I appreciate the support. Cheers
Great job Darren 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, Ryan, much appreciated.
Very nice tutorial.
Thank you! best of luck out on the water.
Awesome pattern !! Thanks for sharing.
Ernie
Thanks Ernie! Cheers
Another great tie. I make mine using micro pine squirrel zonker. Thanks for the video
Thanks, Gary. I need to get myself some pine squirrel. Nice natural mottled colors and thin hides make for lots of movement in the water. Cheers
Thumbs up. Thanks for the vid
Thanks Tim! Cheers
I’ll definitely try this for steelhead season
Thanks Matteo, it should be a good pattern for steelhead, trout and I'm thinking bass and pike. Cheers

Hey Mike. I'd keep with the traditional leech colors (black, olives, brown, chilli pepper, claret) and would also tie it in a white. Cheers

Do you still make your own lazer dub? With Angelina Fibers and yarn, like your old video?
Hey Caleb, you bet I do. I used some of the Hareline Laser Dub here though. I have a pretty good stock of I need to go through. Cheers
