BECCA LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE THE STICK, 389 Pete, DOUBLE CLUTCHING, AND DOING IT. BECCA CAN DO ANYTHING SHE WANT TO, Tell Zeke and Bengi be Good to their Mom
When I first did flatbed I drove for TMC. They taught us how to shift all those gears in a training room with simulators. Smart move on their part vs. screwing up expensive trucks. Company Executives didn't believe in " If You Can't Find Them, Grind Them". LOL
It seems impossible at first but the time will come that it happens without thinking and the great thing is it's a skill you never forget. You're a brave kid with a great attitude, you'll get it.
I used to drive a Volvo FH 12 in the uk with 4 over 4 manual gearbox with a split gear on each gear so it basically had 16 gears it was a great truck to drive , you don’t see them now all automatic boxes over here nowadays. Once you get used to it you will like a manual gearbox much better in bad weather as well
Oh boy! Going from a freight shaker to a Pete. I just wanted to say, trust your intuition. The longer you stay out there the sharper your sense will become about others. As your insight increases, situations that used to baffle you will become clear. It’s refreshing to hear the honesty. fM
Ok…I’m a believer in un asked for advise is criticism, (un less it involves safety). So please bear in mind this comes from a million safe miles logged. I see both you doing something that’s going to get you both hurt. Driving while eating. Your skill sets are improving daily. It’s great to see the competency. It’s pleasing to see you having so much. There’s some really great people out there. There will come a day when you can look back an be amazed at how awsum this country is. Merry merry happy happy This is Squirrel Out
My dad and other family members were truckers ( Dad 46-82) and all drove manuals including my sister in law. I’m biased therefore but have more respect for a trucker especially a female who can jam gears.
Sadly it is a lost art that many new drivers in this generation will not experience due to many companies converting to automated trucks because of that fact it is hard to find drivers who know how to drive 10,13,18 speeds. However its fun shifting, feels smoother, and you feel much more pride as a trucker.
Oh my. Oh my. I learned how to drive a truck in montana switching seat going downhill going west bound I90 outside butte.mt in cabover 89 kw 350 cummings big cam 3 9 spd. Back then when i got my lic it was c.c lic then i was the first of 50 drivers to get the cdl in nebraska prob in 91 or 92 cant remeber my fist truck i own 90 flattop pete 400 cat 15 spd 110 mph. Anyhow i wouldnt know how to drive an auto shift it scare the cramp out of me. Good luck girls keep on trucking
Shifting gears is what trucking used to be like. Eventually it will all be automated transmissions. It seems the least interaction from the driver means better mileage. It’s like being a pilot there is auto everything in a jet. It’s fun shifting gears, you can get it so it’s smoother than an automated. Just take your time no hurry you will get it, have confidence girl. Have yourself a great and a safe day, happy trails.
It's a great feeling the first time you nail the shift and realize you weren't even thinking about it when you did it! You got this. Once you do this you'll be a REAL truck driver!!! Lol. Here's some advice that helped me- when you're first learning, ALWAYS double clutch everything. Then once you've mastered that you can start learning how to float. And whenever I get into any truck for the first time, I ALWAYS double clutch. That teaches my brain where the friction zone is in that particular truck and the physical location of all the gears. Then once I've double clutched it for a bit I can switch to floating. I love your videos you have the best personality!!! You crack me up. Cheers big ears!
Beautiful truck . Now you are driving now you got gears to change and a spread axle. I am drooling cause I always wanted to drive a Peterbilt. I am sure the dogs love it I've it too. Worthington steel closed down in Maryland after Bethlehem Steel shut down .
Hi Becca excellent video no worries you’re awesome driver and you will get hang of it in no time you be shifting like pro back in day I drove 4by 4 it’s browning and main gear shift and as always you and puppies and stepmom be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nice, Jona and Becca driving together ! Becca gonna be floatin !" Good to see you guys. Please, You girls Be Safe. Don't need to yell in those radios, just talk normal but fun to watch you guys. How long will you be running together? Be Careful.
Without a headache rack I would strap or chain a few dunnage in front of tarp. In the event of a hard stop load may push the dunnage but the chain or strap would work as a safety stop. Just what I do. I've seen loads hit the sleeper at red lights.
Oh snap you two together in same truck…. This is gonna a an interesting trip 😁😁😁😁😁 I loaded there at Charter Steel last Monday… yes TMC covered wagons are everywhere in there 😀
I can't believe you never drove a Roadranger. Please hit the H/L switch before coming out of gear. It tends to blow the syncro apart if you don't. Shift with your ears and feel of the truck. You can gear up fast to save fuel. Once you get the feel it won't be long before your going 1st to 3rd and so on. Start slowing before the downgrades and keep it in gear on the downhill. Easy on the clutch brake. Most new drivers wipe them out quick. Keep your foot off the pedal and your hand off the stick. Good luck.
🤣😅🤣 Nice change in a video... I thought that lady in this was your Girlfriend...Now I know its your step Mom. 🤷♂️ I didn't know. LOL. Either way awesome video Becca. Your the best trucking videos I watch on RUclips.
Very Nice Video @Big Rig Becca I Hope You Both Stay Safe Out There I Hope Those issues with the Buisness will resolve since you said there's been fighting And Arguing within the company Cause Of Team Drivers I'm sure everything will resolve in Due Time Stay Safe Out There and Keep On Truckin

As good you follow your family footstep of truckers you're following your gas footsteps Merry Christmas and Happy New Year almighty God watch you over in heaven you watch all your family and your loved ones Merry Christmas 🎄⛄🎄⛄
I've been driving for 21 years and bought 4 trucks, and I've always shifted gears. I've never driven an automatic truck. I've thought about buying one, but I like to be able to control my truck at all times in all situations, and at this point in the game, it's like second nature shifting gears. 18-speed is my favorite. Good luck.
@@happypappy6371 Meaning driving up and down hills, snow and ice. I want to be in the gear I choose, not the gear the truck chooses. As I said, I've never driven an automatic, so there may be a way to choose your gear and keep it locked in but IDK.
If you ever do decide to get a automatic truck, the Detroit DT12 is the only one I would consider. The previous company that I worked for leased trucks through Ryder. We were always swapping trucks so I had a chance to drive just about every automatic truck on the market including the Volvo I-Shift and several different Eaton Fuller transmissions. They were all a terrible experience with the exception of the DT12.
Oh wow!! I watch your step-mom's videos also. Hang in there, sista!! That Pete will have you going stir crazy before long. You'll definitely get there with the stick.
You can learn to shift ,it’s a float the gears ⚙️ at 1500 just like she said , this truck is a 13 speed on steroids 15 or 18 speed but it just the basics 5 speed pull the high range selector and go back to 1 gear and do it all over again, then you will learn the splitting the gears in the mountains or with a really heavy load the clutch s oneky for starting off and stopping, you can use the clutch any time but most of us do not use the clutch for every gear change ok you got this girl thanks BigAl California.
Hey Becca,,, it takes a little time before that muscle memory kicks in,,, but once it does, it's always there, and you'll feel as you once did, driving an automatic... Everyone has to go through the awkward stage at first,,, but like everything in life,, 'this too shall pass'..😘
Word to the wise. Never ever ride your clutch pedal more than 3 second rule, nothing wears down your clutch more than riding the clutch pedal. Stick to the 3 second rule. I see them fail like crazy if u continuously stepping on the clutch more than 5 sec up. Some drivers r too lazy to put it in neutral so the keep their foot on the clutch p at a stop sign or a red light or stuck in traffic. 3 sec.
The person at DMV didn't know what they were doing. They would have already had your birth certificate on file from when you got your original class A.

I would not know how to drive and automatic in a big truck. Have driven a bunch of fire trucks that were automatics but the only 18 wheeler I have driven was a stick. The only thing they had when I first started
It’s nice to see Jonalyn and Becca working together and I know Jonalyn is doing a great job training Becca. You and Jona have a safe trip out there.
Hi Brian, how are you? Hopefully your Thanksgiving was great!
She is doing a great job! Thanks Brian stay safe! 🤗
Could never put me in no Peter I refuse ew
@@bigrigbecca Wasn't your Camaro a manual? If it was, why is she trying to teach you the basics of a manual transmission?
@@RoadWarrior77I think hers was an automatic but I’m sure stick in a car is a lot different than a trucks gearbox.
